I wouldn't say Square Enix is the best...

After constantly bringing out new Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games with the same recycled time/turn based battle system, I think they get boring really quickly. Chrono Trigger is no different.

But the World ends with you was Amazing. Probably the only RPG whos gameplay takes full use of all of the DS's funtcions.

Yep, the pin-based batlle system was extremely ingenious but more importantly, it was the best feature of the game(apart from the story). It's still one of the best rpg's out there. I wish more people would play it.

@WarRock97 Chrono Trigger is about 300.67^8 times better than TWEWY. Not only was Chrono Trigger one of the most innovative RPGs of its time, it still, even by today's standards has a great storyline and a fun battle system. TWEWY not only was a lesser game than CT, it sucked. Period. Terrible, conflicting stylus combat, boring, predictable story, stupid setting, and annoying characters that had little growth. The only exception was Neku, and he just turned from cool into a pussy.

@mysterymeat3 Don't get me wrong, I like both games. I just prefer The World Ends With You. And yes, the battle system was very unconventional, but it worked well. Though, not everyone of people can work well with it. You may have had problems with it, but I didn't. I just prefer something like that over menu based combat as it can get boring when done a little too much. Story in general isn't going to appeal to everyone, obviously (not everyone is a fan of time travel either...).

You can tell the game is an RPG by the fact that you're playing the role of Link, hence role playing game...

Strategy RPG's and action RPG's are still both RPG's. Just that strategy games require, obviously, strategy, while action RPGs are more get in there, drink your potions and smash the crap out of everything. Zelda is obviously an action RPG/Dungeoncrawler with puzzle elements in it, what genre do you think it is? :S
