does anyone have clips from the original (the un-dubbed version)? This is the version we get in the US but it doesn't take long to realize something's missing!!!
We've just made a film with Rab Buchanan and Dave Anderson! - I uploaded the trailer as a video response to this. Music includes sax by Colin Tully and watch out for the Gregory's Girl moments!

This film is not dubbed. I saw it during its original run in LA. People were walking out because they could not understand what the actors were saying.
I study english as a foreign language I have never came across a phrase "wee boy"?Do you often use it? Scotts only? If I understand correctly it means something like little boy?
I am traveling to Scotland in summer and I have decided to see a few Scottish movie before I leave and Gregory's girl if one of them, and it's a cute movie...so I wonder where is this park or location about which you say that not much has changed? Is the whole movie shot in Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire, Scotland?
A truly wonderful film, one of my alltime favorites, and actually I prefer the "dubbed" version over the original, the voices have a certain quality that adds to the innocent feeling.
"She's got teeth! Lovely white teeth! White white teeth!"
The best film? You've never seen Braveheart, The first Highlander movie, Rob Roy or the last King of Scotland then no? Those are just some of the oscar winning blockbuster films That are associated with scotland, made in scotland and every one of them have many decent or world class actors in them.
So no, Gregory's Girl is NOT the best film to come out of scotland, Not even close. Give me a couple of great english movies then...Wimbledon?...This is England?...Kidulthood?...Rubbish.
ok i see what your getting at but he said "come out" as in filmed their. and while we're at it, Braveheart was filmed in Ireland with an Australian actor as the leading man, Highlander was piss and is piss, the last King of Scotland has got sweet fuck all to do with Scotland, just cause it has one scottish actor and Scotland in the title doesnt mean it is a scottish film, and the best film to actually come out of scotland from my point of view is trainspotting or Orphans.
Braveheart was filmed in ireland AND scotland, and yes the australian actor mel gibson was the leading man, but don't take away other main characters who are scottish, such as brendon gleeson and brian cox.
Highlander was considered by many critics as dross, but was still a blockbuster success at the time, and many scenes were filmed in scotland.
The last King of scotland was filmed in scotland at the beginning of the film, the main character is scottish, and the actor himself is scottish obviously and it highlights the dicator Amin's passion and admiration for scotland and it's people, so it does have quite a bit to do with scotland despite the setting in uganda. Not to mention kevin mcdonald the director of the movie is scottish.
I do agree with you that trainspotting is possibly the best film to come out of scotland though.
i have checked my facts and i know where he was born, but he and his family moved to OZ to stop the boys in his family from drafted, his mother was Australian and has held an Australian passport for longer than he had an american and now he has dual passports, so i consider him australian like most other people
This is the dubbed version for the US market. Apparently the americans couldn't understand the thick scottish accents so the powers that be dubbed the voices with more 'anglisized' ones.
The DVD has audio options for both Scottish accents and what you're listening to now. I prefer the former. I'm American and have little trouble understanding the accent.
I'm an American & I personally think the Scottish accent isn't hard to understand. The ones who say it is don't want to listen intentively. I would much rather watch it in its original version but then again. Yet, I'd like to soak up as much as I can about foreign anything including language. But its just me.
Well said 88nicetat. I have to admit that even from Belfast, with an accent not unlike the Scots I found some of the (original)narrative hard to decipher. If you really want to indulge/immerse yourself, read any of the Irvine Welsh books. Irvine Welsh of 'Trainspotting' fame. His books are written in the (Edinburgh) dialect. After a few pages you are 'there' in Edinburgh with it diverse characters.
omg i loved this movie....certainly none of your modern rubbish so i must admit my sister and i were shocked (i only saw it last year you see) but it is SOO funny!!! and scared caused us to fall to the floor laughing wen we found out our mum used to fancy gregory, but i think his mate is better, though i aint seen it in a while and cant remember anyones names. AWESOME film, must wacth again, and again and again and again!!!
I don't think this was overdubbed. I saw this when it came out in the 80's and those are the actors voices. Looks like the video is just out of sync with the sound. Fantastic movie by the way, very funny. Brings back memorys of the girlfriend I had at the time back then. Classic movie!
Overdubbed or not that's Clare Grogans voice for certain.

He spent his formative years in Australia. Therefore, he can be considered an Australian.
