Because I was baptized in the name of the Father , the Son, and the Holy Ghost while in the baptist church as a child. Got FILLED, for real, with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking with tongues.

Pastor Smith is correct in his teaching. Understanding this concept however, comes by revelation from God. All you people being critical of this pastor better be careful because there are numerous examples in the bible of people who lost their life antagonizing a man of God!

Acts 2:38 is not contradicting the Great Commission. In Acts 2:38, the Jews did not recognize Jesus. They only recognized God. Because of this, Peter was introducing Jesus as the way, what baptism represents, the death, burial and resurrection. This is the only way to get to God, who is the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit.

yahschild87, From what I hear he is saying that Jesus is the name of God, the Son and the Holy Spirit. That is a Hersey of the Oneness Pentecostals which is the old Hersey from the early Church. 'In the name of' means in the authority of. Scripture explains Scripture. You have to be careful with Acts 2:38. That is one verse that Satan twists your thinking about the Nature of God.

yahschild87, I am not debating. Pastor Smith delivering of the message is misleading. If you believe in the Doctrine of the Trinity, I take your word for it. It could be that he is talking to those who think the Trinity of God is three gods. It's three persons in unity as God. God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit. It is not a God with three heads like the Oneness people think. Remember, all cults deny the Trinity of God.

yahschild87, At the end of part 2 is something I never heard before. Jesus was God in the flesh, and He was fully human. When the Bible says that 'Jesus is sitting at the right hand of God,' the Bible means what it says. Read the Book of John. I love you with the love of Christ. However, Pastor Smith is outside the Orthodox doctrine of the Trinity of God.

@drl15son Many people do not realize that even if you are looking at baptism in terms of Jesus name only, and you believe oneness doctrine. Do they not teach that Jesus is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? Matt. 28:19 is not talking about 3 gods or titles it is speaking of One Name (Read Col. 2:9. ) Name means the attributes, character, power, renown. One God, Father Son and Holy Spirit. But people in denominations wont teach you that because they prosper off of division which is not of God

Who is "him" ? Matthew 28:19 is correct when it says "Name". "Name" in hebrew and greek means the same things, "renown", "character", "power", "attributes". Any hebrew and greek study will show that. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are "ONE". So however, you cut the mustard, "trinitarian", "oneness". It's all still One God.
