  • OMG im pretty sure this is the Pipes and drums my dad was the drum major for!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • gr8 vid... just as nice as the pies i heard in Dundee last year. thnx for uploading :)

  • No the French were there (in settlements) long before the English. Then the English moved in and aided by Scots, eventually took over. When I say "there" I refer to the French colonies which at their peak reached all the way from Tadoussac, Quebec, Ville Marie (Montreal today) to Detroit and then down to New Orleans.

  • Nice try buddy. but you're wrong. The Scotts settled last long after the Britts. the french came soon after the Britts (hence Acadia) then the Scotts long after. theres a little history for the idiot who knows nothing about the province they're from... and by the way, the Scotts settled in Cape Breton then slowly moved into the main parts of the province. so get ur facts straight!

  • Excellent! This Scot is giving it a big thumbs up :o)

  • Ahh you're very kind :)

  • whats the song, that was played the first 4 seconds....which was finishing from this video??

  • Minstrel Boy, as noted in the comments, top right.

  • It was named Nova Scotia because the vast majority of people living their were Scots, or originated from Scotland.

  • Ever been to Nova Scotia? There's a reason it was literaly named "New Scotland"

  • Here's a headline for you chad. In the last 20 years at the Worlds, 12 times the winning pipe band was either from N.Ireland, Australia or CANADA. 6x Field Marshall Montgomery, 5x Simon Fraser University, and 1x Victoria Police. I hope you can go to sleep knowing that the current World Champions in the pipe band world are from Canada!

  • well you sir are an idiot, plain and simple

  • Just to let you know, the majority of the Canadians are of British origins. The Scots are the third largest ethnic group in Canada, but represent the largest single ethic group in Nova Scotia.

The kilt and tartan represent the clans and families of Scotland, so therefore those with the family name such as MacDonald has every right to wear the tartan and kilt of the their ancestors.

Canada does celebrate its various cultures from all our heritages European, Asian, African etc...

  • We also make AWESOME whiskey here too. You sir, are a damned fool. Or damned tool. Both actually...

  • did it cross your mind that many people like myself was born in scotland have lived in canada and the usa love to hear pipes and drums i dont think we are abusing the scottish culture rather we are honouring and embracing it so relax

  • my buddie got excepted to join as 10th snar cool vid tho

  • Great video!

If you havent seen this show in person, you must go next year!

I just came back from the one in Halifax. Magnificent!!!!!!

  • Excellent nothing beats the pipes & the drums.

  • im gonna be the pipes and drums this year :)

  • HI FROM PARIS, PM BEAR! What is the name of the first march the Massed Band played ( when

the "Brass" stopped) It sounds somewhat like waltzing Mathilda ... Where Can I find the sheet music ? ROBERT PARIS AND DISTRICT PB

  • Bonjour Raibeart, le titre du marche est "The Man From Lyonsbrook---Frank Sobey". Il est le propriétaire d'une chaîne de supermarchés en Nouvelle Écosse, et quequ'un qui a donné beaucoup aux gens dans cette région, j'imagine...

  • THANKS PM BEAR ! Where can we find this music

    I guess it is a modern composition, isn'it ...

Let me know, please ! Paris PB might visit Halifax in 2010 ... Lou DAWSON who lives there, now, Is a great Friend of the Band . Thanks a lot ! Regards to the Band . Paris and District are competing at the British (Grade 4) next june. Tapadh leibh agus ... Slainte !

  • Nova Scotia does not 'pretend' to be anything. We are who we are you stupid rat bastard.

  • Have a look at the book, "The Piper in Peace and War", page 217 onward, and you can read about the Highland regiments in Canada and how they "pretend" to be Scottish. While you are at it you can learn how they kicked ass all the way across Europe, often alongside their Scottish counterparts.

  • Even more amusing is that if you had read the posts below you would know that one of the pipe bands is from 7 SCOTS.

  • This is a awsome visd thanks...

  • I aim to please... luckily a friend of mine was in the stands to film us.

  • Hey! What is the name of the bagpipe piece that is synonymous to Scotland? A piper lead the athletes' procession from Nova Scotia at the Canada Games (I was a Manitoba athlete) and he played a bagpipe solo piece that we hear often but I cannot name... You might know what I'm talking about....

  • Scotland the Brave

  • Yeah!! You're right. I checked the name out and the tune fits.

  • LOL it is the one bagpipe tune everyone knows

  • that and wings

  • what bands were there

  • 12 Wing Shearwater P&D, 14 Wing Greenwood P&D, Atlantic Region Tri-Service Cadet P&D, Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo/Black Watch Association P&D, P&D of 7th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, Edinburgh UOTC P&D, and several pipers from other Canadian Regiments attached.

  • dude awesome video, i love the tattoo always have ever since i was a kid.
