Fraser can never be a threat to felix in the 200m,allyson has more endurance due to the 400m is running.allyson and VCB will still be the main favourite for 2011 and 2012. It seems the 100m at Daegu will be between Jeter and VCB,bcos the gals are running marvelous time.10.76 and 10.70.
I don't think it's pressure from big meats specifically; I think VCB gets into her head. She knows her only competition is VCB, and although she can smoke VCB, she knows VCB is relentless, and it seems to scare her. Shelly Ann, for some reason, I just don't see her as much theat; she has a great start but not much speed. I'm looking out for Kerron Stewart & think she's got tons of potential. BTW, I think our biggest big met screwup is Torri Edwards. Shame she hasn't won anything.
all you saying amazing things about Jeter's top end how she easily caught up to VCB have to realize that VCB isn't in top shape at all... look how she lost to Shelly Ann in the 200m in Kingston. A top form VCB would never lose a 200m to Shelly Ann. Her endurance and top end aren't there yet, so it's just her improved start that's doing it for her so far. Look out for VCB when she gets in form.
@rayric84 The race with Shelly was just a joke okayyy and that is evident from her 10.76 and 10.84 recently also....if she wasn't in form she wouldn't have beaten Jeter okay.
She is stubborn and her coach is not forceful enough, I think she should go to Jamaica where she will be punish out of her bad ways in training by the likes of Stephen Frances and then we'll see her true potential. All she has to do is stuck to her drive phase and count her steps to 10 or 15 and she will be the record holder, but instead she panick each time at the start. Then revert back to her bad habits standing up. Her window of opportunity is closing she'll be 32 this year.
VCB is such a beautiful woman and brilliant sprinter. Jeter is annoying me with her horrible starts. Look at how easy it was for her to catch up to VCB with her top-end speed...it's insane she doesn't focus on her starts and clear the field. Also, why isn't Jeter running the 200M? With that top speed & experience, I'm sure she could topping VCB in the 200...
@tigguh19 Trust me, I feel your point completely. As of this very day, of the 200M runners we have, it's pretty much a battle of VCB, Allyson Felix, and everyone else is pretty insignificant! LOL, but, let's not forget, Jeter hasn't been running the 200M. Jeter is amazingly fast and continues to increase speed with distance; she seems like more of a 200M runner than a 100M runner to me. I honestly think if she trains for the 200M, she'll beat, Felix and VCB.
@tigguh19 I think the secret name this yearis Shelly Ann Frasier Price as evident in her recent victory over VCB in Jamaica where she stormed around the curve much better than VCB and Felix. Shelly Ann only needs stamina and work on an actual top end speed to bring her gold. I think she's improving and if she get another victory next week against VCB and Felix the latter two got to be worried; very worried.
@kingofsprints the thing VCB has never won the world champs for 200m so im not at all surprised if she doesnt perform that well, we all know she picks it up an extra notch when it comes to the olympics coz thats when her form really comes together.
@sexygreen2010 True! There something about the worlds championship that doesn't entice VCB... Anyways she do need a coach though because her husband alone can't help her.
@stevie586 This is what Ihave been saying for the last few years, that Carmelita has the ability to threaten the world record, but she's reluctant to follow directions. She'll never win a gold medal with coming from behind period, as she only rely on her top end speed. She doesn't trust her drive phase, so she tends to stand up straight up and started running which usaully puts her at least 1 to 2 meters behind from the start. 10 steps while in the drive phase will put her in front at 40 meters.
@kingofsprints Thanks so much for backing me up; I really know what I'm talking about! Yes, I agree, she will never win gold coming from behind; not against a field of such seasoned runners as VCB, etc., who have near-perfected their craft. Look at her 10.64 run, how she got a great start, a huge lead, and continuously just pulled away from the crowd more and more until she got to the finish line; it was perfection! Her coach needs to really get on her about strategy...the speed is there...
@kingofsprints Gotcha...I don't know much about her training habits, etc. But, you are right about her bad habits; they are horrible. As well, she does that on the end of races when trying to play catch-up...she especially does this in indoor. You're right, her window is closing and I just want to see her get it right...she has such amazing potential an is RIGHT THERE with the gold dangling in her face...
@stevie586 I don't feel she is a big meet performer, I think she's the female Asafa with all the potential in the world and choke on big stages. Shelly Ann is 24 and not yet reach her prime and will only get better and that's the reality VCB and FELIX faces the next 6 plus years.
She showed those Americans how a REAL champion runs

@stevie586 There's no female on the planet expect Allyson Felix who can match VCB in the 200m
