1) I'm a sahraoui girl and MOROCCAN girl and Proud to be Part of Morocco SAHARA has always been historically linked to Morocco and ONLY Morocco claimed its independence when Spanish was colonizing it. this music must have come partly from india at least there is a strong resemblance especially in the way the drums is played. the timing is a generic 6/8 beat which can be found throughout the sahel zone eventually reaching yemen and then going further to iran and india. The weird thing though is that the 6/8 timing isnt very prominent in other eastern arab countries like egypt or libanon.
even be found in iran. Is there any tie between Mauritania Yemen and maybe India?
@mdinka just because two cultures have 6/8 rhythms does not mean that their music is especially related. it does not take much time to create many different types of rhythms when you are bored and have nothing to do but sit around and bang on a tabl. 6/8 rhythms exist all over the place but it's not like no one could ever create a simple 6/8 without learning it from someone.
@glorplaxy of course you are right It could be just a coincidence but I observed many more similarities between the cultures I mentioned below. it's not only the rhythmic patterns or the pentatonic scale it's also the dancing and singing (especially the singing) . And I'm thinking here about very very old ties like way before biblical times. I can't prove it though it is just a gut feeling. Anyway its good to have many cultures on youtube to share and learn from each other. thx 4 ur comm.
funny you should say that. the dresses and the colors... even the patterns/decorations are virtually identical to what is found thousands of miles away in india. interesting
