My friend has only 1GB DDR RAM, he has a 3.8GHz Prescott Pentium 4 and a 9800GT. Is it his RAM which is bottlenecking him? He has to put resolution on 800 x 600 and everything on low.

@RedHaxorz It's both his CPU and his RAM. His CPU is only single core, and so is the equivalent of roughly 0.95 GHz compared to a quad core. Then with the other advancements of today's technology it is even slower than a quad core of that speed. The RAM is also only DDR whereas there is now DDR3 (and has been for a while now) it is also only 1GB, the computer apart from the graphics card which should be fine with this game, is just about hitting minimum specifications.

I've seen other people run this game on a Pentium 4 OK, but since it's on an LGA 775 motherboard he might as well just buy more RAM and something from the Core 2 series. Although Core 2 is pretty old, and so is DDR.... Screw it, I'm buying him an AM3 bare-bones deal... Or Sandy Bridge :P

@Arjun007ize 8600 GT will be able to run it but most likely on medium settings. What I would do is put it all to highest and put shader quality and water quality to medium. It should run quite fast that way, also put anti aliasing and anistropic filtering down to zero it will still look really nice and run quite fast. I can't know for sure though, so if you're having FPS problems talk to me again.

@Arjun007ize It really depends on your graphics card and your monitor. With my 4870 I can run crysis on very high with about 25 FPS at 1920x1080.

@Arjun007ize I wouldn't get an e7500, go for an i5 that should suit your needs, it's a bit more costly though. I would suggest the i5 760 ($209.99) and an asus sabre-tooth 55i ($169) . If you've already bought the e7500 go for the Asus P5Q ($124.99) Core 2 Duo's are getting really outdated now, so if you want to play crysis then I suggest you get the i5.

No, I ran MW2 on 1360x768, and now I have my HDMI lead back, I run it at 1080p, flawlessly, and this game runs better than MW2, although only slightly. Also, that is nowhere near my specs. You saw the minimum specs, try actually reading next time.

IMO Intel is always better as is Nvidia, but AMD and ATi are the cheaper options but still have good power. So I would reccomend the Intel if you have the money.

Hmm I would reccomend an upgraded processor although you will definately be able to run the game at the very least. Also I've been planning to do let's plays of some of my games Batman Arkham Asylum for example as that's one of my favourite games this year or Operation Flashpoint 2 as I just got that. Besides, what if the computer completely craps out on you? What are you going to do then? You surely can't send the computer back to be fixed if it's something to do with an essential part...you'll be spending more money for that part, which is bad if you are on a budget or anything.

Not necessarily true, some pre-builts that are built for gaming can be in fact, upgraded.

I've upgraded about 4 gaming rigs for my friends because they have requested either, a better card, more RAM, etc. and I've had no issues upgrading them whatsoever.

Once more though, it ties back to the whole budget thing...sending it to a technician will cost you ungodly amounts of cash whereas, if the computer is under warranty, it is free.

Granted, customs are nice, don't get me wrong...pre-builts...
