Thanks Gal - this is a great song and another that should have been released! Yes its always interesting finding and presenting the background information for each song, though these recent unwanted changes made by youtube definitely do not help! I've had a break to get over them, hope to be doing more videos soon - greetings from your friend John!
Yes Abba were such perfectionists that even though this unique song sounds great as it stands, it wasn''t quite good enough for them. Unfortunately they never got round to finishing it for release.
Thanks Mark, this is a great race-along melody filled track that really should have been released. The singing by the girls in the second verse is ecstatic, and the lyrics are Shakespeare quality when you read them! I just can't understand how they didn't take this fantastic song to completion for release!
Nice one Shay - that guy Willie Shakespeare's words are still as meaningful today though he wrote his plays 400 years ago! That's the measure of his brilliance. And songs like this are an example of Abba's brilliance. The music, singing & lyrics are all great, but it didn't get released. Shakespeare would have been proud to perform this Hamlet himself! I must pay him a visit soon, and see if he's done any new plays - he was just up the A435 at Stratford!
Except when you have to learn the lines Elin - "Alas poor me, my head hurts!" It must be one of the most analysed plays in history, and its amazing that it was written 400 years ago! That guy Willie Shakespeare is nearly as good at writing as Bjorn! I'm off to get the lowdown from the ghost of Hamlet's father. He said to beware of Claudius!
Hi Myriam, yes its a very nice foot tapping melody and is sung in perfect harmony following every note as only Abba can do it! Its a pity this did not get released on a main album, I reckon it would have been very popular - but we can do our bit here! Yep I can send you the picture of Agnetha composing to candlelight at the piano. I chose that pic to link talented Agnetha with the Bard, who wrote his classic Hamlet play under similar conditions 400 years ago!
Thanks for your suggestion, it really was a pleasure to do a video for this very nice but rarely heard song. This is an example of Abba at their best and why we love them - but their release standards were even higher!
Thanks Jesus, I like to do things that are a bit different from the norm. This song is so beautifully played and sung by the group at their best, it deserves to be heard a lot more rather than being hidden away in the Polar vaults. It stands comparison with any of their released songs for catchiness and creativity!
Thanks for sharing this musical masterpiece with me John! Thanks also for the wonderful information you included! I really enjoyed this a lot! Thanks again!
Hi Dallas yes I'm amazed that they could discard something so good and original as this. I've not heard anything with such precise harmonious singing to match every musical note, and the lyrics are of Shakespeare tragedy quality when you read them through! This song is indeed a hidden masterpiece like a work of art. It was a pleasure to bring it to life here with the background info and Agnetha composing her own classics in similar style to the Bard - cheers from John!
Yes its fantastic how they both sing every syllable just right to match every musical note Matthias! The attractiveness of their singing is heightened by being delayed until the 2nd verse when it comes as a nice surprise, and by their Swedish accents in delivering these Shakespeare quality sad lyrics quickly !
Yes I agree Johanna - this song is so tuneful and original that it deserved to be completed and released! You can't help tapping your feet along to it. Its an unusual arrangement to have the instrumental part first, but you then appreciate the quality of the girls singing when that breaks in!
Well, I've found another treasure of ABBA; thanks John. The instrumental introduction reminds me of "Intermezzo nº1". Lovely picture of the versatile and always beautiful Agnetha; cheers from Francisco
Hiya Francisco, yes you can just imagine Benny bashing away at the piano to this. But its much more tuneful and nicer than Intermezzo #1, especially with the super singing from the girls! It was really a joy to make this video - there was plenty of scope with this excellent rare song and that intriguing picture of Agnetha composing with romantic candles for inspiration!
excellent John -good to come back to YT and see this after 5 days with no PC-the trusty laptop expired and I have now got a new one-good job I could touch type because most of the letters had worn away on the old one-this is so fast I cant keep up with it!
Hiya Bill, I know the feeling - I upgraded my memory short old pc a month ago, and the quick response from this new pc is great! its almost as fast as Benny's playing and the girls clever singing here!
I may well get the old one repaired as a spare-it is only 20 months old and still a current model but 5 days without a PC called for drastic action and a bit more oomph-were I more patient, then a repair and memory upgrade would have been cheaper and would have left me with a better machine and some change!!
Was this from the 80's? I have always believed that "The Visitors" pointed up the career that ABBA would have had had they continued through the 80's. This was great to hear. Thank you so much for posting!
Hello - this is from August 1978 and would have gone on the Voulez-Vous album if any. You're right it does sound more mid-80's style and perhaps more in the "Chess" vogue.. Benny did re-record this song as an accordian instrumental "Lotties Schottis" for his successful Swedish solo album Klinga Mina Klockor in 1987.
Thanks Jim, I found this one more interesting than most as this is a rarely heard song recovered from the vaults and had to think of a suitable picture to go with it. This picture of Agnetha composing to candlelight gives plenty of scope and a perfect link to Shakespeare - and she could challenge him for genius!
Great UPLOAD John,...thumbs up to ya and thankin' ya for the COOL share! = )

Someone at EMI (or wherever their rights are) needs to release a CD of songs such as this. They could count me as a sale. :)
STAY AWESOME mate! :)
