Mogen has claimed that it is impossible to damage the penis when using their circumcision tool. The procedure is uncommon in Europe, and the USA has an even higher incidence of common STDs. Moreover, I haven't seen evidence of STDs being commoner in the US uncircumcised population than in its circumcised. As a pharmacist, I see no sound evidence of a health benefit for circumcision, at least not in any developed nation.

Including, what are likely consequences to African women, based on cultural practices? In Africa, many women are victims of FGM and have extremely small 'entrances'.
Pt 2: In Africa, males prefer 'dry sex' and women are expected to wipe out natural lubrication before sex. Therefore, African women are more likely to experience tearing and abrasions with circumcized men, which provides opportunity for HIV and other diseases.

Procirc, Many circumcised men have a penis that leans to one side. Having had sex with uncut & cut men, I much prefer the feel of uncircumcised men. Even if some men prefer to be cut, let them choose when they are an adult what is done to their own body. Many men are really pissed off the choice was made for them. It is jumping the gun to amputate skin because there may be a problem. Society should allow for the maximum choice and respect to every individual on their own bodies.

July 19 2010 Atlanta Journal. Maker of the Mogen circumcision clamp is sued and the Court awarded a 10.8 million dollar judgement. The infant lost the entire glans of his penis. Mogen has claimed that it is impossible to damage the penis when using their circumcision tool. Mogen was also sued when use of their device resulted in an infant boy loosing 1/3 of his glans in 2009. Mogen is already in default on a $7.5 million judgement from 2007

@SSanf, I'm not sure why you insist circumcision has "an over all health benefit", when no medical association recommends it, and there are associated risks.
The procedure is uncommon in Europe, and the USA has an even higher incidence of common STDs. Moreover, I haven't seen evidence of STDs being commoner in the US uncircumcised population than in its circumcised. As a pharmacist, I see no sound evidence of a health benefit for circumcision, at least not in any developed nation.

I do believe you're reading from something. Nobody uses "may" so much in their normal speech, I'm used to reading medical literature. Researchers don't like to make absolute statements of fact as that will lead to others proving them wrong, so they say "may" when proposing any idea. Therefore it may be true that Routine Infant Circumcission is a waste of time when similar results can be achieved with proper Sex and Sexual Health Education in schools.

I am AMAZED at the opposition for circumcision and the intellectually bankrupt arguments its antagonists provide. Some seem to think circumcision is some old religious/cultural ritual that should be stopped. The problem, however, is that this time, our ancestors actually got it right. Circumcising your kids is largely to their benefit!!

Some seem to think that Circumcision is some old/cultural ritual that, in a light of modern cognitions, should absolutely be maintained. Circumcision to prevent STD's and other problems failed in the US, it didn't work, it doesn't work, it's bunk, the data is there, just compare ANY two WESTERN countries where one is circumcised and the other isn't, the non-circumcised country always has a lower rate of STD's... without a single exception.

IDIOT! Those "target cells" you refer to, are the first line of defense against infections. What is happening on a biological level is a battle. And in any battle, there will be casualties, in this case it is those cells. Without them, there will be a reduced defense and AIDS/HIV will get through easier. This is shown by the high AIDS/HIV rate in the US among the circumcised and the low rate in Europe among the intact.

Assuming that disease IS a factor, I still don't agree with this one. Now when they're older, heck when they're a teen then I would say TALK about it, you know communicate and be open about one's body and not ashamed, (but mainly adults) then I'd say go for it if they feel they want to. But for infants I have to shake my head at this crude, irreversible, physical indoctrination.

This study essentially compared a group of men who had been circumcised
AND who abstained from sex for 6 weeks after the procedure
AND who had condoms
AND who were educated on hygiene
against a group of uncircumcised men who were
NEVER abstinent
Did NOT use condoms AND
Who were NOT educated on hygiene.
In short, it could have been any of these variables that helped prevent HIV. This is a poorly conducted study and circumcision was most likely NOT the deciding variable.

There are no benifits. The studies are compleatly biased, and if you don't believe me, look at the study. In Africa, it reduced aids statistics because you can't have sex for like a month after being circumsized. Not having sex reduces your chance of aids.

Procirc, Many circumcised men have a penis that leans to one side. Having had sex with uncut & cut men, I much prefer the feel of uncircumcised men. Even if some men prefer to be cut, let them choose when they are an adult what is done to their own body. Many men are really pissed off the choice was made for them. It is jumping the gun to amputate skin because there may be a problem. Society should allow for the maximum choice and respect to every individual on their own bodies.

just because someone is uncircumcised doesn't mean they have no problems, the foreskin is not sacred, or infallible.
my opinions are based on PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, i have had it both ways, and from my personal experience i KNOW that being circumcised is great and does not reduce pleasure or anything.
i am not biased, i have acctually experienced both sides, which is more than i can say for many many men, and from experiencing that i KNOW that what no-circ says is EVIL and HARMFUL.

I am just going by what he said regarding his body self-image, which he is trying to correct surgically. Both the mental state and the willingness to undergo additional surgery to correct the perceived flaw are certainly atypical for circumcised men. Taken with the constant emotionalism in the nature of the posts and the sheer volume of the posts, that is what I am getting from it.
