  • reminds me a lot of The Fall of Troy

  • @BearsMusic1 math rock touch, that is

  • *turns speed up to 1.5 times faster* O.O twelve fingered men

  • So great live.

  • @TrifectaStudio agreed

  • No man I saw them at El Carazon in Seattle, they played with RX and Zechs Marquise. Easily the best guitar work throughout a concert i've ever seen.

  • It sounds like someone is doing the motorboat on a guitar.

  • @zackrabramo you are a retard :)

  • @zackrabramo How about they are fucking amazing and I saw them with RX Bandits. How fucking else do you discover new music? I think seeing a band live is probably the best way discover a band. It's better than " Oh I saw this band on American Dad "

  • @bubsadoozy Did you see them at The Middle East Downstairs because that was a sick show!

  • I got to see this band in like 2004 in a empty church with like 10 people in the crowd. the power went out during their set. it was epic :D

  • Woah, I saw these dudes live with Minus the Bear, they didn't play anything near this crazy. I want more stuff like this; album(s) suggestion?

  • @nlo13 ghosts n vodka

  • @mrfish4lyfe

I know ghosts and vodka, I meant more Maps and Atlases that's more spastic like this song.

  • @nlo13 Listen to the album You and Me and The Mountain. It's not quite as quick but technically it's just as amazing.

  • I don't know if this is just me but, does anyone else LOVE when you get those awesome surround sound speakers for xmas and you just get to blast cool shit like this!? ugh, i'm melting.... but that's a good thing (;

  • @zackrabramo im usually here to just enjoy this awesome music, not to comment and make come backs to jerks like you but, SCREW YOU.

  • @zackrabramo Shutup hipster faggot.

  • They put on such a good show on the 23rd.. Last sunday, there such chill people too. I didn't know of them before the Circa show on the 23rd but I'd recommend seeing these guys live if you have the chance.

  • @zackrabramo Since when is a fantastic band being recognized a bad thing?

  • @zackrabramo you should be happy for them. touring with cira is getting their name out there.

  • I cant even explain how fuckin amazing this song is, but Im also high, but idk

  • Philly on the 26th!!!!!! woooo woo Cannot wait!

  • I think this is something like what some get out of the bible?

  • gotta say this song kicks ass

  • Awesome picture, awesome song.

  • I can't wait to see these guys live with circa, gonna be the best show ever!

  • @iamjoshbrooks WHAT where?!

  • @IoDecay Friday in Omaha they're playing together. Idk where else its probably for an entire tour leg.

  • @IoDecay they are on tour together, I'm seein' them in Memphis.

  • @iamjoshbrooks They're not coming to FL though :(

  • @IoDecay damn that does suck, I just got back from FL 2 days ago.

  • @iamjoshbrooks Saw it, SO GOOD.

  • they sound just as orgasmic live

  • @killswitchofficial just because there's a shitload of notes and tapping going on doesn't make these guys good. Thomas from tfot can do this but he tones it down and switches it up (he does wank, but not as much as this). The guys from tera melos can do this but they stopped becuase they said they felt like wankers and hacks. And its true. Im glad this band changed their style and matured because this makes them sound like they just learned how to tap well.

  • @REVOLV3RR

When tapping wasn't a commonly practiced method this was awe inspiring.

Now it's old news, so everyone jumped off the band wagon, either entirely, or use it sparingly.

Still good stuff to me, but then again, I don't study music theory or anything else that can sanctify me to judge who is presenting talent and who is not.

  • Verga!!! estan re cabrones!

  • Wow. so much like early Genesis/Yes/ELP, great to hear someone knocking out awesome prog. Vocally so close to old Peter Gabriel era Genesis, love it.

  • 1:29-1:47 is pure magic.

  • @killswitchofficial compare this to Tera Melos not with FOT ...it's another league..

  • There are hardly Guitar cover of Maps and Atlases. Everyone covers The Fall of Troy riffs because they are much more fun to play and catchier. You cannot compare FOT with this.

  • @ipschedipsche

Can you get TFoT out of here.

Every fucking mathrock song on youtube I see has one thing about TFoT.

    That shit sucks

  • someone start a band like this with me please. i'm serious.

  • @Drebin34678 where do you live?

  • @ValkyreBomb Queens, NY.

  • @Drebin34678 thats my home town! idk why im tellin u this

  • @Drebin34678 Haha, were do you live??(:

  • @Drebin34678 Totally would if you lived near me no joke

  • @Drebin34678 Wish you were in San Diego, or Cali for that matter. Totally would... Not necessarily like?! but definitely an influence. Check youtube.com/rambleandwake. My broken up bands channel. None of the bandmates were willing to work hard enough so I,m solo right now working on some stuff thats a bit more complex. It'll be up soon.

  • @Drebin34678 id be more than down to collab on this kind of genre. im great at writing deep, flowing lyrics and singing. i can play acoustic and metal-style guitar, bass, and a little drums nothing this damn technical and good though. what do u play?

  • @Drebin34678 where ya located I can get drums, guitar, or bass.

  • @Drebin34678 i'm in dude. where do you live? ill move there.

  • @geoffcabforcutie Queens, New York man.

  • hooo my god .. enough said

  • is this the hipster version of fall of troy?

  • @1ManArmyOfDisease Dude. Man. Friend, Maps and Atlases are far more musically talented than Fall of Troy. I give your comment 2 big thumbs down.

  • @1ManArmyOfDisease Are you the stupid version of a youtuber?

  • @1ManArmyOfDisease Dude, the fall of troy is a great band, but I see no comparison. And how the hell is this hipster??? This kind of music is as real as it gets!

  • @Fenrisulfr529 i feel that the whole song writing style is similar, just the way this bands style is seems like the hipster way. I wasnt tryin to troll, your the first person not to bitch at me.

  • @1ManArmyOfDisease No worries, man. The only thing that really make them similar is the fact that they are both complex bands. Nothing more. The fall of troy didnt invent musical complexity. And hipsters are deuchebags who think theyre better than everyone else because they like indie stuff and because theyre so different, when in reality all hipsters dresss and act the same. These dudes are very far from that.

  • @Fenrisulfr529 I personally like FOT better but this band aint to shabby.

  • @1ManArmyOfDisease There you go. Thats how you should have stated your opinion from the beginning.

  • @1ManArmyOfDisease Tera Melos :}

  • Yes! Maps & Atlases and Tera Melos (as well as HELLA) are the cream of the crop.

  • @Fenrisulfr529

nothin gets as awasome as the fall of troy, but I'll tell you why they find them similar: it's MATH ROCK, it includes a high complexity in rithms and it's basicaly guitar experimentation!

  • @TheWhiteZanate And? Even so, both bands are completely different. The fall of troy is complex hardcore, and this has nothing to do with hardcore. And its way more complex than the fall of troy.

  • @Fenrisulfr529 i think cuz he finds similarity in the voices of the two bands lmao.. M&A > FOT

  • @pedrosanc07

nope, nothing alike... there's no band like TFOT! although it's math rock to.

and thomas erak's voice, is very different! think about it

  • @TheWhiteZanate

This may be Math Rock but TFoT is a little on the heavier side, and use things such as breakdowns, and all that over-used "HxC" crap; let's just call them both good music; screw all this "how they are/aren't" alike crap, cuz they are both very good; both very different.

  • @NoiseNoiseNoise732 wat is math rock exactly

  • @halokillsblackops

Apparently something to do with time signatures... I was just saying this maybe "Math Rock" but TFoT is not this.

  • @halokillsblackops Really late to reply haha someone prolly beat me to it. But math rock is just really technical pieces that are made into melodic songs like these. Tera Melos is also very math-core ha

  • best band

  • Wow, instrumentally intense song

  • DUH BUH BUH DUH BUH DUH BUH BUH DUH BUH BUH DUH BUH BUH DU BUH BUH

BLOODELEEDLEDEEDLEEBLOODEELELEELE DUH DUH DUH. duhDEEEEEEEEE DA BOOM BOOM BADA BSHHHHHHH!

  • no lyrics online, booearns!

  • good sound.

  • very very very very interesting music !

    i don't like it.

  • @totem63 LAAAAMMMEEEE!

  • @totem63

    Die.

  • This is the advancement of rock as we know it. This band and many other math rock bands are the reason rock is still alive...period. cause radio rock ie."alternative" is killing the scene in general.. that's why rap is taking over. Just wait til math-rock/prog rockhits the market, done.

  • @GSarovich yea but then it's gonna start sucking. look @ rap in like the late 80s and early 90s it was fuckin sweet. everything has waves we just have 2 wait till bands like this are cool for a little while b4 they get shitty again and rap turns back to awesome. cyclic fad-following shitheads make this happen. blame mtv and billboard for "rating" music based on it's video.

  • @GSarovich dude fuck yes!!! i want to hear soft machine, can, and guru guru on the oldies stations. Then some mars volta on modern day rock stations. :) and this on its own station!!

  • @GSarovich wtf is 'math' rock.

  • @chasingxsuns It is characterized by complex, atypical rhythmic structures (including irregular stopping and starting), angular melodies, and dissonant chords. I am pretty sure this is the official definition.

  • @GSarovich My sincerest condolences, Math Rock has actually been dead for about 5 years now. Any math rock you see now is either watered down versions of the sub-genre(such as Battles) or former bands that have greatly strayed away from it (such as Maps and Atlases).

The good news is, is that prog rock did hit the market... in the 70s.

  • @oredrocozne why bands like Maps and Atlases are stray away from Mathrock? just asking, so don't respond me like i'm a troll please.

  • @oredrocozne And is alive and thriving this very day, (prog that is). Unacknowledged by the market... I wish somehting like 'Math rock' would become a popular favorite. Seems unlikely though. (It needs a better label for one thing!) - First I've heard of Maps and Atlases. Pretty good stuff. God bless 'em for trying.

  • @GSarovich it's been in the "market" for about 40 years. it still has no steady foothold. don't misunderstand. i like it, but saying this is will save the market is horribly incorrect.

  • barbaro dave... very nice

  • barking at dogs tapping ballons to avoid the downfall
