lawl - im 13 and im doing the same thing and i tell you - piano is such a ****in instrument and ABRSM makes it a whole lot worse - our syllabus should include modern songs - not these ****ed up songs from the 1700's - only **** professors listen to this music

hello, I am 12 years old and doing my grade 3 piano, i am doing Menuet in g, l'elephant, and top cat. I am very happy beacuse i finally mastered the first line of menuet in g after a few weeks of hard core practising, yay me! If anybody is doing l'elephant, i find it really evil, but my teacher just said that im putting hands together too quickly, so if i do separate hands practising then maybe i will get it. It's good to listen to these vids, because it proves that grade 3 is do-able, gr8 job x

i'm doing this for my grade 3. im struggling on reading the music, cos i taught myself for a while just plying the piano. and my teacher put me str8 on grade 3 so i skipped 1 & 2. Mine sounds nothing like that! lmao, i need to get used to reading the music.

LOL. Nevermind, you'll get it. Your teacher should probably have put you in for 1 & 2, or at least one of them first - so that at least you get a handle on the reading side of things. Bit unfair to just drop you in the sh*t with Grade 3 first! What other two pieces are you doing?

i'm doing. l'elephant and top cat. i've mastered top cat now! now im on this one, and im meant to be practising l'elephant. i can play them, its just reading the music. so from your video, if i watch ur hands i can probably play it. if u no wot i mean lol. he said my actually playing is really good considering i taught myself for a couple of months!

i can read music well but not when im playing it distracts me, it makes my sight reading worse but

i have a good musical ear and very good memory

Hi there, no I tend not to.  I use the music whilst I'm learning the piece and usually have it in front of me even after I've memorised it (to make sure that I'm paying attention to the dynamics etc...) but in general I think that if you can memorise a piece and internalise it, (basically be able to sing it along in your head as you play) then you give a better performance. BTW I got 29/30 for this in the exam, distinction overall....:0)
