  • instead of saying DELETE THAT, he said DUVITAT. wonder why he failed...

  • SΣҖѰ

  • Voice recognition should be attached to one person, there are different accents in the world of different accents, therefore voice recognition will never be perfected, unless there was a software program that adjusted to your voice as you talk.

I dont think they would be really easy to make.

  • last time i saw this video was when Vista was coming out, and still puzzles me, why he says "Dewete that" instead of "Delete That"

  • Siri better.

  • @9rockky It's a shame Siri doesn't fix your grammar for you.

  • speech recognition is bad...

  • Janet Leigh so if you have a lot of them is the with the outgoing hear what he saw both committee control of the PC as well as the patience of this is really unlocking the markets for us the thing about 1/4 accessibility am working with PCs as well as in some markets where a young keyboard input can you give the holder hasn't really been the norm Susie think about what the handwriting recognition voice recognition unlocking a kid of the leasing markets will face and.

  • @BarbaricGoose This comment brought to you by Windows 7 speech function. I turned it on, set my mic next to the speaker, and Windows 7 transcribed the audio with effortless precision.

  • @NonCorosiveAcid Visual Basic 6, Windows XP, Windows 7. And maybe VB6 was working a little too well for them, so much that people kept using it instead of buying newer products, so they decided to make it artificially incompatible with Windows 8.

  • select all doesnt work, i tryed it

  • I tryed sterio mix and this is what I got,

As soon as this so as not one has a desire and Asian and naturally was long and using the citizens of sorrows of it is a little bit about speech and was arrested it was a story as well as good

In an who everybody everybody in the world body of the debut on a wide plateau and up on that debt that I’m not by unidentified man and an ad add the fact that all as easily as Mrs. Other states are so as long food

  • i have this crap on my computer, it's worse than this

  • Switch to work too long, or were a lot of times if Dumont,

    The DVD.

    We miss you, june

Blitzer you have a little is known to the winner will use a command and control over to zero as well as the onward and markets for I think about the stability and working with kids use as well as its markets where are you

From 0:46 to end by using Stereo Mix, Notepad and The one and only Speech Recognition

  • I used stereo mix to make the audio from my speakers come back into the mic. The when he said open word, my speech recognition opened a new tab in google chrome and went to microsoft at work -_-

  • this tech is so usless. microsoft should take there time in prigraming more useful tech

  • is there a way to do this in WinXP?

  • why doesn't the windows tab work on my vista!? It looks cool

  • @mariomario8888

i have vista x64 bit, which has the windows tab. maybe you have x32 bit?

  • @KawaiiSakuraKitsune nvm, i got it to work!

  • i hate voice recognition - especially when i'm trying to get through to AT&T about my dsl being down

  • Voice Recognition is problematic no matter what you are using.

Cell phones, bluetooth, Sync, and the Microsoft Vista stuff -- it's all the same. It may work some of the time, but it is not perfect. It's hard to come up with a perfect system because the ambiance will never be the same in two different places. What can be heard in a bedroom may not be easily heard in a car.

  • A good speech recognition has to be calibrated to each specific user's way of speaking and dialog. This has a listen and guessing system, that means is just AIMS for the best suitable word, that has pre-programmed, which is very clearly annunciated. still clumsy then!

Something like this needs to be tailored to ever person, just like a suit. One outfit made, wont fit everybody, so thats why every program has to be calibrated individually as well... (They just haven't figured this out yet)

  • You know what's funny about this video if you have your sound on and you also have speech recognition enabled his voice will start to control your computer. It just ran through all the commands that he mentioned in the video. Even if you have your speech recognition as sleep he says start listening and then your speech recognition wakes up and continues to follow his commands. Try it!

  • this why i hav windows 8

  • Fission Mailed

  • @OptiMystic8 LOL I see what you did there!

  • I don't want to sound like a Microsoft nerd, but you could see that the voice meter was confused. The auditorium is a bit of a bad place to test it. I use the speech recognition on my Vista machine, and it works fine (Most of the time).

  • Jesus fucking Christ just type! Yeah, if you have 15 hours to kill then by all means use the voice recognition to dictate a 50 word paragraph.

  • ITS BECOMING SELF AWARE KILL IT!

  • Thanks for uploading the entire version. All of the short ones make the speech recognition look like failing crap.

  • EVEN THOUGHT ITS A FAIL I WOULD STILL LIKE IT TO OPEN FOLDERS WITHOUT TOUCHING SOMETING

  • Sounds like he's saying: "do eat that" when saying delete that :P

  • to microsoft- this was your own nail in your own fucking coffin.

  • thats awsome

  • this is so old I'm sure the program has new code added since it was first made. anytime you make a new program it always takes time to work out the kinks. take a look at winamp its been through hell and back and now it does everything another is divX

  • @unevenlight :P it's still hilarious though

  • @5dragons2 yep XD

  • lol

    This is hilarious

  • Still seem pretty faulty to me.

  • What if you want to write select all?

  • @ghostsloth ....say select, wait, then say all.

  • @xxseenyweenyxx Aaaaahhh... of course!

  • double the killer select all xD

  • Speech recognition never worked well, but it's always was fun ))

  • double the killer

    lol

  • Vista sucks! I know

But I am writing this comment using the speech recognition software!

    It's amazing.

  • my is assumed missing in the control panel cant find it at all. want to try it

  • @mikaelssen if you are working with vista! Type voice in the search bar in the control panel and it will appear!

  • nope noting shows up at all. might be because off my language settings. might not support my language

  • "correct 'let's set'." ya dummy..

  • ROFL!

  • double the killer lol

  • NilEinne, I am no fan of Microsoft either, but this is really, really good research. Well done. Thanks for this. IMO, it is a great example of the media having their own agenda: ratings and sales rather than objective reporting.

  • "DELETE, SELECT ALL" *types delete select all* hahahaha

    i was laughing sooooo hard

  • Comment removed

  • thats the only thing they forgot to fix in windows 7

  • Shanen

  • That is pretty cool. I would rather type the words in though. Especially while I am writing a book.

  • Yeah, saying the whole book would take twice as long because it wouldnt work.

  • Oh look! Windows has a built-in MAD GAB game! XD

  • "Bulldog are ugly but old daughter and spectroscopy hi to you hydrogen "

    I like speech recognition. :)

  • @MentalSentinel. Honestly I would rather type the words out. I think it is fun.

  • @MentalSentinel what were you trying to say?!

  • Can i like record my own commands!?

    even in my own comands?

    like i say gta4 it opens gta4!

  • FAIL.

  • Careful. You don't want to accidentally DELETE a FILE!

    -person on the computer- AGGHHH!!

    ^.^

    -Jessica-

  • imma buy that shit son!!

  • FAIL

  • don't buy this shit..

  • By the way, thanks for your research and uploading this video. I appreciate your impartiality.

  • Not too bad.

  • his mic was set too high

  • someone got fired that day...lol

  • Voice Rec ROCKS!

  • sucks it doesn't workin in polish version of vista

  • hahaha

    i have this

  • every single thing microsoft made, zune, was a ripoff to something else and it is ALWAYS worse than the competitor's product. i can't think of 1 thing microsoft made that nobody else has done, and i can't think of 1 thing microsoft made that was actually better than everyone else's products in every way

  • yeah, you have to wonder why there OS is the most popular, if the apples OS was as compatible with most software as Windows i would switch to to that OS but it isnt so ill have to stick to Windows

  • yes , because Ipod is really not a ripoff of music players which is a ripoff of radio, which is a ripoff of human speech which is a ripoff of animals sounds.

Building on other achievements to add more functionality is innovation and not a ripoff. it is how life works always.

  • ipod was original, thats why it got popular. it was the first portable music player with a hard drive, meaning, capable of storing several thousand songs. at its first release, keep in mind mp3 players were really bad and small, so ipod was considered huge. ipod innovated, microsoft just wanted to be in the game. they innovate NOTHING except ms office

  • well, if you add a lot of details, like "first portable music player with a hard drive" . well, we can say Microsoft innovated too, for example Microsoft made the first blue screen of death. lol and they introduce it live to the audience.

well, i don't like the monopoly attitude of Apple, if they want us to use Mac OS , I hope they license it and make it installable on PC.

  • lol very true about the BSoD thing, but what monopoly attitude of apple? i don't think they're monopolizing and even if they are, its incomparable to microsoft's blatantly huge and highly illegal monopoly. i think the only reason our government hasn't shut them down is because 95% of all computers in america run windows (i'll admit, one of mine does too, but i only use it for gaming, otherwise i use linux only)

  • well, Apple wanna be more than Microsoft, they control Mac manufacturing and the OS and they don't let their mac to be used by other OS neither let their OS to be used on PC. I searched before ways to install Mac OS on PC, I want to use PC, I like to customize it and want to run several OSes, but what I read that it would violate the EULA to use Mac OS on PC with or without hack. unless they Mac OS on PC, I would not switch. at least MS does not make the PC

  • that isn't monopolizing, thats just their particular license. apple from the beginning wanted to sell computers with their os and they deliberately prevented windows from installing on it and they deliberately prevented mac from installing on a pc. as i see it, apple targets specific groups of people, they are their own community and don't intend to make products for everyone. windows does.

if you really like to customize, you should use linux, since thats all about freedom to do whatever

  • yes, I do use Linux and Windows, but mostly windows, since i'm used to, and I love the many apps, dreamweaver and visual studio. and yes I know apple intended to do that, that's what i don't like about them. I don't want to be confined by their choice of hardware.

  • I couldn't have put it better myself.

  • @undocumentedspot human speech has nothing to do with other animal sounds other than humans themselves are animals, our speech is original.

  • actually you know what? xerox made it. do some research next time. i'd consider changing your username to "the humiliated angel"

  • Apple was first to really utilize it, Gates had nothing to do with it.

  • Are you fucking kidding me?

  • Don't be silly.

  • bill gates did not invent or make the mouse i am holding

HE IS A SOFTWARE DEVELOPER. S-O-F-T-W-A-R-E

  • HE IS A SOFTWARE THIEF. T-H-I-E-F

  • It's not theft if you pay for it, which he did.

  • its pretty hard to program something like this you know so you gotta be honest its hard to do this so dont all laugh lol

  • HAHAHAH You colud train your speech recognition before you show it on the presentation dumbass haha

  • Dear aunt, let's set so double the killer delete select all

  • OSX has this option from very long time :)

  • I like voice recognition and in fact I am using right now!!

    On windows seven!!!

  • ive tried speech recognition before and it didnt work ver well for me at all

  • watch my vid it works well for me.. not for editing but typing is pretty fast.

  • the echo?! What the hell?! Dumbass

  • hes in an auditorium DUMBASS

  • Haha, its just funny how Microsoft comes up with all of these excuses

  • how does aunt sound like mom......... sigh... another fail...

  • Y'know.. why are you guys saying that; "MAC SUCKS!!11! get a WINDOWS!!11!!!!!" or vice-versa. Can you guys all say that; Apsoft. Apple and Microsoft. Guys, just calm down. I have a Mac and Windows Vista. They both work fine. What's the problem? .. Both have their pros and cons. Stop complaining and just have fun with your laptop/desktop
  • @TehOneSkillers

While both have their pros and cons, but windows is clearly a better OS to get simply because it has more supported software, and so it's much more likely that the software u buy will run in a PC than a Mac, and that the software that you borrow from a friend will work on your computer. Secondly, The UI design is more efficient, while Mac is simply being different for the sake of being different. I use a computer not because of its animation-stunt ability.

  • It's a bit buggy. But you can use it.

  • FUCK the echo man you were wearing a headset, and a damn good one by the likes of it, there isn't a better way to pick up a voice

  • Yes, unfortunately it appears from other non MS sources echo is still a problem in auditoriums and hence it's never a good idea to test speech recognition in them. Of course if you actually have to use speech recognition in auditoriums, you're kind screwed...

  • @sjpc33 It was probably the people laughing.

  • lololololololololollololololololololol

  • that would be awesome to use to write an essay <333 :DDDD

  • I don't see anything in this raw footage that makes CNBC's "selective editing" any less compelling.

  • You mean besides the fact that they didn't show the part where it works!

  • Comment removed

  • I tried using voice recognition with my laptop, works ok most of the time for opening up programs but sucks so very very much for dictating stuff!

  • Ok, I'm sitting in a small bedroom, windows/doors closed, no tv going, nothing. Went through the trainer a few times, did the "extra" training a few times and the thing still worked like crap. Even tried to dictate a "dummy letter" so it could get used to "my voice" patterns and train it more. The thing kept saying my name is Mr. Woo, Mr. Who, and Mr. Wu. I'm not chinese, I'm white?lol. For those people who said it worked for them, I have one question for you. how slowly did you speak to this?

  • same here. my name is glenn and it kept saying its clean or queen or...pauline :( well at least its free

  • @boonsblues lol I tried it....it understood NOTHING! lol

  • dragon speaking naturally 10 is way better

  • it works very well

  • I could type that faster than it took him to say it

  • Speech recognition is not for people who are capable of typing. It's helpful for people who cannot otherwise type. I knew someone who used speech recognition that was paralyzed on half of their body.

  • I have acute dyslexia and it can take forever me to type voice recognition helps a lot but good ones are hard to cross

  • This is a piece of SHxT! Fxxk You microsoft speach recognition team!

  • Does anybody know how to switch from English to Spanish in Vista Voice Recognition? Pleas reply if any of you do.

  • This thing is driving me crazy

  • i didn't hear that he say "delete that"

  • Ha! it works like that too, i tried it out for like a month and it just sucks on every aspect.

  • importing Wav files woud be better for dokters with a tape recorder.

think it was tampered in ultrasonic, somebody do a (non mp3, they don't record that) soundanalysis

  • dude its awesome i have it right now in my laptop HP and im writeing this massage with speech recognation!!!

  • i think its picking up a little bit of echo here-_- yh right, LOL

  • Vista is a load of BS, I try to push the limits of my computer like I do in XP, it crashes and formats my Hard Drive........

  • That's what we call 'serious user error'. It means you are too stupid to own a computer and should take it back to the shop and reprimand them for selling a computer to someone so stupid.

Seriously, there is no OS, not Microsofts, not Apple's, not Linus's, not the FreeBSD foundations, not Suns, etc which randomly formats your HD.

  • ORLY? Hmmm, I try to run Visual Basic 6 to program, comes up with a "Fatal Error" with about 20 lines of numbers then freezes, I boot it up and all my data is corrupt, it didnt reformat my HD, just corrupted everything. no matter what computer I put it into It won't boot up, explain why that happened to me? You seem smart enough, and explain why it never happened on XP?

  • Given that you don't apparently know the difference between formatting and data corruption, there's no point me guessing what we went wrong. For all we know your Visual Basic 6 program was designed to corrupt data but you didn't realise

  • Incidentally if your partition table is corrupt, putting it in to different computers is not going to help anything. Your best bet is to use some sort of recovery tool (that doesn't touch the original HDD) or if you're desperate, pay someone to do it

  • Anecdota evidence. Irrelevant.

  • Anecdotal that is.

  • oh i love windows microsoft has a lot of credit cuz of making this thing!

  • i love windows vista

  • Microsoft is making people lazy by adding this voice recognition

  • dewete that..... dewete that....

maybe you should say delete not dewete

  • I had a better voice recognition software in 1997 than what windows vista is trying to offer now.

  • ....So Microsoft continues to catch up with technology that was created (and executed fairly well) 10 or more years prior by IBM and Dragon. Way to stay current!

  • ROFLMAO :))) Good job Microsoft! WTG...

  • umm echo? AHAHAHAHAHA

  • he dealt with it, pretty good....he seems pretty cool!

    Go windows!!!

  • Tried it myself, really works like this..

  • I see no difference between windows xp speech recognition and vista

  • I have used this, and it is a little bit crazy!

  • What's so crazy about it if I may ask? :P

  • Its recoginzing certain words when trying to sya something in word is a bit off. As well as trying to type in a url on the address bar, atleast for me. Its really good at opening up stuff quickly though.

  • Microsoft and innovation. Yeh I know OS/2 did not make it. But I guess its not that strange with Microsoft still being chased by the European Union for there monopoly practices.

But in 1996 OS/2 already had none continues speech with Warp 4... It was not the best, but still I still use it. And in 1994 Warp 3 had person to person basicly 99% of what Microsoft netmeeting was in Windows 95.

So much for innovation sadly IBM was never that good at marketing, thats where Microsoft is a winner :-)

  • Yeah. Microsoft are good at marketing. Just a shame the gaming and Zune division aren't nearly as "innovative"

  • no worries I remember the hells of Dragon Speech over 6 years ago

  • thanks for the clarification ^_^

the stupid media confused me XD

yeah vista isnt the best OS out there but it clearly has some cool points.

  • Interesting drop by sometime - Gene

  • Dear Ma, get off the dang roof!

    <3 Shanen

  • It actually worked somewhat. But still a great blooper.

  • kinda funny, but this guy handled it great.

good presenter, not so sure about the technology...

  • lol
