4sure on lack the ground clearance not a jeep with F&R axles&leaf springs Subaru only has independent suspension BUT with how the awd&the fact that the all the axles,suspension is tucked under&in you cant get hung up on rock&elect all that forester needed was a skilled driver that know how to work its awd just right have sum balls&dont4get dent scratches comes with 4X4in.90%sure with my 05 outback sport with the full factory offroad package i could of made it 100%with a forester.

i own an impreza some of my friends own other types of subaru's and i cant believe that some people think they are hard core off road vehicles they are good cars with some 4x4 capabilities but they lack the ground clearance and suspension travel for heavy off road use, now put a lift on it and a locker and some decent tires and you can get some place

@yatzi1980 subaru is not made for off road it is more a family vehicle made for safety not for off roading. Jeeps made for off roading wouldnt last long in a a yearly 700 mile trip. Increase ground clearance and put dirt tires then we are talking
