Imagine political parties that stands for something besides corporate privilege. The U.S. congress has been totally co-opted by corporate interests. Don't let this happen to Canada. Control corporate campaign contributions.
Yeah but the problem with Canada is the Governor General(With direction by the Queen) can overrule anything done in Parliament. That isn't true Democracy.
@TheJosephPrice: Whats your definition of democracy? Power has to reside some where I would rather see it sit with one that is impartial like the Queen. The Queen is as powerful as the public needs her to be, and may be called on in times of constitutional crisis. Do you want a President who has more power than the Queen that would be dangerous given how Bush Jr used his authority to invade Iraq.
No one is defending Bush or his Administration. However my definition of Democracy is electing officials every 4-6 years(Depending on the position) and have a constant rotation of lawmakers in power. Keeps monopolies out of the picture(Usually, although special interest groups need to be dealt with). Where as The Queen can simply remove the PM if the House of Commons "Loses confidence". Don't work that way here. Here you vote them out, and that's that.
@patthespark it depends how its interpreted, remember that just like in just about every country the highest court can interpret any piece of legislation how they want to interpret it
@patthespark The future monarch assumes the power as even without the coronation they are the King/Queen and so forth, so it is legit, but looking at your Parliament I see two major problems, one is the voting system and the second is that unlike my countries (Australia) Senate which is elected whilst yours is appointed that must stop.
Protect Democracy my ASS you are sucking up to Monarchy and Guv Gen! Fuck you Stephen Harper you pawn for the New World Order down with these kind of people! Fuck You Liz Windsor!
That's funny, he got his minority government in 2006, then even gained more seats in parliament still maintaining his minority government, then in 2011 he got his majority government. You tried to bring him down, but each time his government has got stronger.

@jayman1011975 Is that all you tory supporters worry about? All I hear from Harper is that we're trying fixing the economy. But I've never seen anything done by him except for a billion dollar photo-Op, the CF18 Fighter Jets that will cost 30 billion dollars and now he wants a tax cut for large corporations? Does that make any sense? What we need now, is to lower property taxes and small business taxes. The middle income families are the backbone of Canada and trust me Harper is NOT for them
@jayman1011975 And incidentally, the budget wasn't voted down -- Harper was thrown out by that point. If you don't know what you're talking about, maybe you shouldn't be on a soapbox.
@BoredomCorner Agree! But, Iffy has said he will vote the budget down on return of parliament. The usual jackals (the American Iggy, the Socialist Layton and that Separtist guy) will form another Separatist-Socialist Coalition against the will of Cdn voters. I guess the only solution to keep separtists out of running my country is a majority for Mr. Harper.
The 'Kool-Aid' drinking Cons insist that the Prorougation of Parliament was in the rules which is a LIE of OMISSION.

See? No conservative writes anything on Youtube about politics that doesn't degrade into filth. You'd almost think their Evangelistic leader has no effect on them. Maybe it doesn't matter to him - given the ability he has to scrape the bottom of the barrel to win his own way.
Im More of a liberal ass hole. But i have no faith in them anymore. and a true Canadian Would not be such a Asshole to people because they don't share there political views.
@Deltaego hang on you just called Harper a moderate he was the leader of the Canadian Alliance which was about as Conservative as it gets without going all nationalist.
@irishgodfatherchris Thank goodness we have Mr. Harper's steady hand at the helm! With the roaring Jackels (Iffy, Layton and that Bloc guy) we need to help Mr. Harper to protect Canada!
@mikefastener I could he's gonna privatise as much stuff as he can get his hands on and when another global depression happens Canada will suffer, privatising everything is a great way of making money quick but that money soon dries up and then what will happen they've already tried it here in Australia when the Liberals we're still in power (they're conservatives) and it failed miserably.
@irishgodfatherchris No, you are wrong! Mr. Harper is going to follow the course that has put Canada ahead of every other country in the G8. Canadians are so proud of Mr. Harper and his successes for all of us!
1-"G8 does not exist anymore.."-the best measure of future success is past success, so yes, of course, this can be used again to praise Mr. Harper
2-"majority of Cdns do not want him"--also true of Chretien who lead a majority gov't--the last PM to have a majority of Cdn's actually vote for him was Mulroney--I assume Chretien was not legitimate as well!
3-"privatised.."-let the best control possible work-the Market!
1. A completely free market as conservatives around the world hope for only sets the world up for an economic crisis because since they are privately owned they are not as tightly controlled and as you've seen in the US things go south very quickly when you have a free market economy that is a law unto itself and will leave everyone up shit creek in a barbed wire canoe.
@irishgodfatherchris No one (including Conservatives) wants a completely free market!!!
And, pleeeeease, don't try to use the US as a boogie man--let us use other countries (unless you will allow me to use the former Soviet Union to discuss controlled economies!!!)
BTW---try to keep you sentences to less than 55 words! Hard to follow your point!
@mikefastener uh huh you really have a one-eyed view on this don't you. And if left wing politics is so bad explain why my country out of all the Western economies is in better shape, indeed we'll be in surplus by the time PM Gillard finishes her first term (thats 3 years by the way)
@irishgodfatherchris The left-wing is well known for their promises and lack of delivering. (We had the same problems here in Canada with the liberals--promise the moon to get elected, failed to deliver.)
@mikefastener uh huh in Australia the left wing has bought us, the best performing western economy, a public healthcare system that works, decent minimum wage and so forth.
@irishgodfatherchris I understand the left wing in Australia has only been in a short time---seems like Mr. Howard's Conservative gov't should likely take credit for your comments.
@mikefastener the Conservatives left us in a huge mess and set us up for this it got to a point where PM Rudd used $300 million of money we didn't have thanks to the policies of the liberals but against all probabilities the stimulus worked. If anything the liberals are to blame for getting us into that situation.
@BoredomCorner I'm sorry, are you saying you are disgusted with Chretien and the lie-berals taking credit for eliminating the deficit when it was due to Mr. Mulroney's GST and FTA? (Both of which, that hypocrite Chretien said he would remove.)
2. One of the many problems that I have with most countries is the FPTP voting system in Australia every winning candidate has a absolute majority of the vote. So each majority government and even the current minority one received over 50% of the vote (voting is compulsory for all Australian and some British citizens over the age of 18)
@mikefastener Italy has a different voting system again. And how much stability is there to be had when a party can form a majority with a minority of the votes.
@mikefastener but as you pointed out Chrieten won a majority win 40% of the vote which is bullshit when you realise that here in Australia PM Howard lost the 2007 election in a landslide with 47% of the vote.
@mikefastener in Australia we have two major left wing parties in Labor and the Greens. and on the right we have the Liberals, the Nationals, Democratic Labor Party, Family First, Country Liberal Party and the Liberal-National Party (they only field candidates in Queensland which federally is like Alberta very conservative but state-wise it votes for the left hence the fact they have a Labor Premier in Anna Bligh )
@BoredomCorner Interesting that you seem to impose an Americanism on Mr. Harper (who, through his actions on the recent global economic crisis, shows his thinking is nothing like the US is pursing, Mr. Harper, being an economist BTW). Also interesting is this Iffy guy who is an American and loves throwing around gunslinger statements lie, "Mr. Harper, your time is up".
I’ll stick with someone who has stuck with Cdn's--not gone, what 42 years?
@mikefastener in 2007 Kevin Rudd won the election with over 52% of the vote, whilst current PM Gillard (she challenged Rudd in July and won) on the other hand Gillard had to form a loose Coalition of sorts with a Green MP and three Independents to form a majority even though Labor had received over 50% of the vote. whilst in Canada you can form a majority with less than 40% of the vote which is bullshit in Australia Howard lost in landslide with more of a share of the vote than that.
@irishgodfatherchris Canada 2000 federal election Chretien got 40.3% of the popular vote. Your are really getting confused here--to repeat, Your party does not need a majority of voters to become the government!
@mikefastener 3. This is the problem I have with conservatives (all over the world I've had this same conversation with a Liberal here, your good self and a National in New Zealand) you are always saying oh how good are we we did this in whatever year it was and not paying attention to the constituents and their needs of the present and the future.
@mikefastener you we're quoting Mr. Harper who essentially said that our past success can be used to determine our future success which is bullshit nothing can be determined by what you've done rather than what you will do.
@irishgodfatherchris Actually very incorrect, my friend. We find here in Canada many liberals (most call them lie-berals now) that say what they will do and never do it!!!
Pass success (not Mr. Harper's line; but, my line) is a better predictor of future success.
(Ask any employment recruiter when they interview candidates!)
Mr Harper's success at the helm of Canada is the envy of the world--tell me where I am wrong!
@mikefastener ahh in Australia we actually look down on Canada because like the US they're up to their neck in debt, by the way how long would it take for Canada to be in surplus under Harper.
fuck harper and fuck dion there all fucked i say we should throw them all out and find someone our selves fit for the job dont give us 5 idiots to choose from like really
Wooooow... She refers to the Bloc as "Separatists"... This is such a Conservative network. "Stephen Harper trying to do his job addressed the nation". Could this netwrok be less impartial? Answer = No
I think Harper a back stabber, perhaps even the most back stabbing Canadian ever, the son of bitch, wrote a letter to The Wall Street Journal in which he condemned the Canadian government's unwillingness to participate in the 2003 invasion of Iraq, if this piece of shit had it his way Canada would loose its traditional role in peacekeeping, supporting internationalism, as a fair-minded mediator and conciliator, and become the 51st state of the United States, the Coalition needs to stop him
I don't know about you people, but I think the rest of Canada (other than Quebec) would never vote for the Bloc Quebecois separatist party....but apparently they have if they voted liberal or NDP. Thank you to our leaders for teaming up with a separatist party to govern the rest of Canada. Disgusting.
he is a bilderberg group puppet same as Dion they are a threat to the world who looks to canada for guidance ,people goggle the evil Bilderberg Group, they are both the same crisis makers to keep the sheep asleep and distracted
Thanks for the tip on that - I had no idea it existed. Have just read a bunch of articles; so far no mention of Ignatieff, and I guess Obama is off their list since he's African-American. The won't invite Asians, Africans, or Latinos. Maybe not Russians either?
job protection stands int eh way of progress and innovation. canadian politics are nonsense, harpers economics aren't even bad, its foreign policy those hacks should care about..

@mikefastener but as you pointed out Chrieten won a majority win 40% of the vote which is bullshit when you realise that here in Australia PM Howard lost the 2007 election in a landslide with 47% of the vote.
irishgodfatherchris 1 year ago
@irishgodfatherchris You may not be penalitized in Austrialia by the various weirdo left-wing groups we have in Canada--you are indeed lucky!
mikefastener 1 year ago
@mikefastener in Australia we have two major left wing parties in Labor and the Greens. and on the right we have the Liberals, the Nationals, Democratic Labor Party, Family First, Country Liberal Party and the Liberal-National Party (they only field candidates in Queensland which federally is like Alberta very conservative but state-wise it votes for the left hence the fact they have a Labor Premier in Anna Bligh )
irishgodfatherchris 1 year ago
@mikefastener That's not worth much, from a guy who acts like he thinks George W. Bush was left-wing.
BoredomCorner 11 months ago
@BoredomCorner Interesting that you seem to impose an Americanism on Mr. Harper (who, through his actions on the recent global economic crisis, shows his thinking is nothing like the US is pursing, Mr. Harper, being an economist BTW). Also interesting is this Iffy guy who is an American and loves throwing around gunslinger statements lie, "Mr. Harper, your time is up".
I’ll stick with someone who has stuck with Cdn's--not gone, what 42 years?
How about you?
mikefastener 11 months ago
@mikefastener in 2007 Kevin Rudd won the election with over 52% of the vote, whilst current PM Gillard (she challenged Rudd in July and won) on the other hand Gillard had to form a loose Coalition of sorts with a Green MP and three Independents to form a majority even though Labor had received over 50% of the vote. whilst in Canada you can form a majority with less than 40% of the vote which is bullshit in Australia Howard lost in landslide with more of a share of the vote than that.
irishgodfatherchris 1 year ago
@irishgodfatherchris Canada 2000 federal election Chretien got 40.3% of the popular vote. Your are really getting confused here--to repeat, Your party does not need a majority of voters to become the government!
Hope I cleared this up for you.

@mikefastener 3. This is the problem I have with conservatives (all over the world I've had this same conversation with a Liberal here, your good self and a National in New Zealand) you are always saying oh how good are we we did this in whatever year it was and not paying attention to the constituents and their needs of the present and the future.
irishgodfatherchris 1 year ago
@irishgodfatherchris Sorry, my friend--I am not sure what you are saying in this post.
mikefastener 1 year ago
@mikefastener you we're quoting Mr. Harper who essentially said that our past success can be used to determine our future success which is bullshit nothing can be determined by what you've done rather than what you will do.
irishgodfatherchris 1 year ago
@irishgodfatherchris Actually very incorrect, my friend. We find here in Canada many liberals (most call them lie-berals now) that say what they will do and never do it!!!
Pass success (not Mr. Harper's line; but, my line) is a better predictor of future success.
(Ask any employment recruiter when they interview candidates!)
Mr Harper's success at the helm of Canada is the envy of the world--tell me where I am wrong!
mikefastener 1 year ago
@mikefastener ahh in Australia we actually look down on Canada because like the US they're up to their neck in debt, by the way how long would it take for Canada to be in surplus under Harper.
irishgodfatherchris 1 year ago
@irishgodfatherchris Hmmmm....wonder why countries of the G8 are praising Canada? (Oh, I forgot--Australia has not yet made it into this group.)
How long for Mr. Harper to get a surplus? Depends on world-wide economic conditions and Canadian priorities.
When will Australia get into the G8?
mikefastener 1 year ago
@mikefastener the G8 no longer exists so you cant bring that up
irishgodfatherchris 1 year ago
@irishgodfatherchris When was the G8 disbanded?
Missed it on the news.

fly your nations flag upside down in your car window and it may start a conversation.
post a blog on this topic on a forum that gets more hits.
write on a t shirt with permanent marker all the things you feel like screaming at the top of your lungs and wear it in a very public place.

Disgusting.

Thanks for the tip on that - I had no idea it existed. Have just read a bunch of articles; so far no mention of Ignatieff, and I guess Obama is off their list since he's African-American. The won't invite Asians, Africans, or Latinos. Maybe not Russians either?
