ma mettete dei cazzo di sottotitoli che vi costa....ogni volta devo guardare il video 50 volte x capire....dio santo...vi pago ma metteteceli eddai cazzo...
i have a question.. i have a fairly new dj controller, and theres a button called "SYNC" And it automatically matches the bpm of one track to the other. example
song 1: 123bpm Song2: 126bpm, and if i click sync song 2 will go to to song 1's bpm??? do i still need to beatmatch?
i see why im starting to like dj'ing... ITS LIKE A RACE.. i love cars>.<! take one car.. drive up to 4th gear 30 mph 3rpms take another car drive to 3rd gear 30 mph 5rpms... one will sound louder which is 3rd gear
say if i got it in beat for example ones playing at 155bpm and the others playing at 155.2 bpm i tent to flick the jog wheel to keep it in beat, when i see other people DJ'n they seem to be slightly turning the pitch up or down, personaly i find it easyer to keep it in beat by flicking the jog wheel
i bought an all in one piece and it has pitch control, BUT it dusnt go to decimal places(well at least not on the read out) so can i still beat match?eg. 4% move it a bit 5% instead of 4%move it to 5% and it will read 4 4.1 4.2 4.3 4.4 4.5 4.6 4.7 4.8 4.9
hmm not saying i'm a genius and i'm not even a dj but went round my mates house who has dex n i got the hang of beatmatching pretty quick. I matched the vocals of the tune i mixed in and the beats just seemed to match as well? Was it just a fluke?
I have watched most of your video's, They have been very helpful. 1 month ago I knew nothing about djing but with your help and the help of a dj community. I have come leaps and bounds. I can now consider myself a bedroom dj.
This is the first video of yours that I had watched. One thing confused me about this.. you used race cars to explain how to keep them in sync. if they are race cars one should always be trying to pass the other. at first I was adjusting the tempo like they were race cars.
Wicked stuff man never really understood how to beatmatch even tho ive been told like 50 times your video just summed it up, im gonna go practise now cheers :)
basiccly hes saying you must know music what it sounds like right beatmatched and baby the shit out of it before it will be beatmatched properly this is the hardest thing to do so treat it that way
Good video as usual. Do DJs ever use the 33 + 45 buttons to match beats? I know it sounds crazy, but my 1200's only have the +/- 8% pitch adjustment. I like to mix together all different kinds of music (I don't think about BPM). It's really hard. Often times I end up using EQ kills to meld the songs together. When I pull off a clean beatmatch I still celebrate. It's rare. SO anyways... 33 + 45 buttons... leave 'em alone or use 'em?
those buttons r ther because vinyls r either recorded at 33 OR 45 ..so wen u play them bak with the pitch control in the middle and the tune ur playin sounds strangely slo then switch it to 45 and it will play at the correct speed
bit of a mad start, but top vid. i had a bit of a similar experience to the guy below, but im still young so its helped me understand it better. thanks
Great video. Wish I had youtube and you guys back when I tried to master the art of beat matching. I learned on my own. No one would teach me so I guess you could say i was on my own, however I did learn to mix and do it pretty well.
cheers sorry to be a pain but i was looking at some and they mention the frecancy of the, now i take it the wider this the better quality right?? any suggestions on a descent pair for beginner/pro ( dreaming lol) cheers bud wicked vids, they really made me think bout my attituide to beat matching and as for scratching we`ll leave that for another day hehhe
Another tip. Listen to the entire measure (16 beats usually) and match them that way. I found myself doing that with a lot of Hip-Hop, Downtempo and Drum and bass.
The slogan "Practice and Enjoy" couldn't apply more to anything else. When I bought my first decks many years ago, I spent literally 1-2 hours a day for about 6 months practicing beat matching. At first it was hard and frustrating, but I got better and better as time went on. Now, it has become part of me. I no longer think consciously about it, I just do it.
I'd like to say, I had a midi controller plugged to my pc running a software that automatically beat-matched. I realized, I was just pressing buttons, I saved some money and bought a set of turntables. Damn GOOOOOOD feeling, just moving the pitch slider is great. Learn how to beat match is not easy, but it only takes practice. Guides or tutorials like J's are totally awesome. For a start, tap your feet to the first song, then to the second, you'll realize which one is faster or slower. P & Njoy
My personal problem is that I cannot distinguish which of both records is too slow/fast. I just guess and either go up or down on the pitch and hear what happens... so I have a 50:50 chance to get them in beat. The method of course works but it often takes a lot of time which I would be better used for Equing. Can somebody give me and trick to come over this problem?
The best advice i can give you is to stay away from the tune thats playing and put 100% concentration into the tune you are mixing in. Keep one ear cupped for the tune you're mixing in because when it starts to go off you should be able to establish if it's going too fast or too slow. Don't let the exsisting track get involved. It's all about the track you are mixing in.
This is a god tip when you are using monitors. I`ve been DJ`ing for 2 months and i didnt buy booth monitors yet. The way i`m doing it is cue`ing both tracks in the headphones. Is this a good idea ? How can i distinguish witch oane it faster and witch one is slower?
if you know your record pretty good you should be able to distinguish the different snare drum sounds, if you cannot distinguish you should spend more time with your record collection. once you can tell which is the new snare (the record you want to mix in), boom you are ready to move on to the next step in beatmatching. i assume your using slipmats and are "rocking the beat" back and forth under the needle before throwing (this is absolutely neccessary). after the throw listen&applybeatmachin
Thanks buddy, that is another problem. Too many records which I do not remember at all hm. But the stupid thing about vinyl is that it will sound worse every time you play it. I should get my collection as mp3 files, too.

I know why the beat goes off even if the cars are at the same point and are at the same speed.. think about it like this, a car is a track and viceversa, when the track goes down the car goes to the pits to replace a tire etc.. so the car gets behind the other car, so it has to catch up again. it usually happens with most tracks. but sometimes your tracks do not go to the pits.
LOL!! funny though as you have a point, driving a BMW will be like using a Technics sl1200 , and a Skoda would be like using a belt drive T Table!!! nice one thanks for the inspiration! j
Very good. Learning beat matching just by sound can be difficult. Learning it visually does help.
I used to look at peoples blinkers while driving and try to beat match 2 cars together visually (deside which blinker was going slower and by how much). It helps
Big thx for clear explanation of the subject. But... Beatmatching isn't just about pitch controlling? Or i'm getting sth wrong :/
