any technique that wins olympic gold on the day is good technique theres always going to be different ways to move a boat andif everyone does the same thing it shouldnt matter.
Looks like Zealand has more of a Sweep rowing technique. Low hunched and drive, the opposite of sitting tall and less leanback, the so called "perfect" sculling stroke. Just shows it's not the type of technique you use, it's both people doing the same exact movement. Oh and power always helps.
Allldali is partly correct. The New Zealenders double rows like Mahe Drysdale, they row like they do, because they have weak upperbody strenght, so they wait untill the boatspead is high before they use theire arms, so that they dont get exausted early in the race. But theire legs are probably the strongest in this field by far, so thats why they row so fast. but they are not pretty rowers and they would probably row faster if they were buffer up top :-)
Are you kidding!! Their technique is perfect! Quick as catches! Perfect finishes! Beautiful blade-work! Good posture! Absolute perfect timing and balance! And it isn't power that wins races, its heart!
@ALLDALI it's completely untrue..if you make it to the Olympics it means that you are very fast, and if you are very fast it means that you have very good technique. You can't go around rowing like a lumberjack and be "number one". NO

Yay for the twins. Too bad they've retired. They'll be hard to replace.
