"Cause I don't know where to look for love and I don't know how. . . .(at 2:30) a soul wrenching unbelievable beautiful song, timeless and STILL one of the best!!!!!
One of the greatest from the era...My favorite part starts at 3:27, this was usually cut off on the radio and the volume has to be turned up to hear it well..."Have you ever seen such a helpless man?...."
I remember meeting Marshal just after this song came out. Me and my little singing group asked for pointers. And he said: Just stay true and be you. Still remeber that want say how long ago. Chi Lites forever,
KnightinWhite Supergreat post. For anyone who is a fan, "Oh Girl" was on the album called ,"The Chi-Lites". That album was incredible.Including "Oh Girl" there was not one bad track on the album. Their vocalizations of "Inner City Blues" complemented what Marvin made good and made it better. When it came out , a friend invited me to his house and told me to bring my 71/2 open reel recorder with me to record this great album he bought. I still have the tape and the vinyl album I later bought.
Reflect back to those good times for just a moment... You and your babe driving around in your set of wheels; cruising down a lonely country road in the middle of a warm summer night, windows open, a cool breeze caressing away the miles...and hearing this melancholy masterpiece on your radio... THAT'S LIVING!!!!
Paul Young did a nice job, but it's the song not Paul Young. This is the only version, I mean get serious. My God this is such a great song. I remember listening to this when I was just a kid, before my first love and I could feel the pain of a broken heart through this song. Man, that is music. I pray we here music like this again someday.
