It sounds very technical but but basically interaction with a capacitive touchscreen requires an electrical conductor such as your finger to interact with it.

yep, its kind of crap. First of all its thick, second you need to hold it upright, third there is no place to keep it so you can loose it easily, finaly it dosent look good and it is too big !!!!!!!!

Two things strike me:

1) It looks like he was jabbing pretty hard there.  Maybe he is just a brute or maybe it doesn't work all that well

2) The 'point' doesn't really seem very fine so it doesn't offer massive advantages over your finder

In any case, ThinkGeek are selling capacitive gloves for $15 which is a lot more practical imo

It's a matter of taste. Personally I like using a stylus or the tip of my fingernail. Even though this [particularly] solves the first problem, the second remains. Also resistive screens are generally more precise than capacitive, even when using a stylus; You can pack in a lot of wires into a resistive screen, while ATM signal noise limits the "resolution" for capacitive.
