  • That's really impressive. I've had my hermit crabs for a year now, and they love me and i love them, but they will probably never do that! How long have you had your hermit crabs? :-)

  • wow awsome(: how did u know when he wanted to change??? how did u get him/her to change in your hand?? please answer

  • lulz my crab loves me lol hes always in his shell when im not around and when i get home from school and sit by my computer he comes out of his shell crawls to the cage side and stares at me so i can pick him up

  • very cool :)

  • Wow! How do you entice them to change shells? Sherbert and Buddy are in painted shells. I have loads of natural ones for them to change into, but they won't! The only hermie that changes shells at all is Lou-Lou! Cute hermie btw!

  • I've had four crabs for a while and I try very hard to provide them with the best care possible. The problem is, they hide when they see me. How do you get hermit crabs to trust you?

  • you have to make sure its in a good crabitat, love it and hold it gently everyday, and dont come up to it fast with ur hand or speak loudly. Go gently, slow, and quietly, talk to it, and just take good care of the little creature ^^

  • my hermit crab name is lili and oliver... im getting 2 more there names are going too be clair and herly...... :D

  • they're such gentle creatures!

    so cute!

    haha

  • My crab changed four times in one night in my hand. It was annoying. Its cute, but I don't like it. I'm afraid I'll hurt their delicate behind.

  • Me too!

  • Cool, but a bit scary ;)

  • Cute, I must say that the abdomen of the hermit crab looks pretty gross though. I expected something cute and curly, not that monster XD

That must of been so facinating to have a hermie do that in your hand right in front of you. You're a lucky owner!

  • Soo good great job!

  • I love it...

    Gee...

I hope my hermie would do that also...

    I gave it a new shell...haha

  • Lol I didn't know there was a hermies-fan community.

  • Wow! thats awsome! I wish my hermit crabs whould do that for me! one time, Leanz (the second to the youngest of my hermies) was walking around the cage with no shell on for 1 hour and i thought he was ganna die so I scooped himm up with a clam shell and picked a nice shell for him and he changed into it in my lap.

  • lol thats cool as hell ... i feel sorry 4 that disfigured hermie u had ... ive had 19 hermies and they wouuld never do that 4 me :)

  • That was so COOOL! How did you do that?

  • wow amazing how did u get them to do that?

  • WTF is wrong w/ the person below???

Anyway, that's so adorable! She must really trust you!! :)

  • wow!

  • aww now thats trust! lol, And my hermit crabs seem to wait for me to go to bed and do it, even if I go to bed at like 5am, lol. :P

  • once i went to bed at 4am

  • Cool! I have a shell changing video too... but dont think i could ever get them to do that in my hand. Awesome!

  • how long have you had that crab?

  • sweet!

  • Looks healthy happy hermie. Thanks.

  • NICE!!! mine is pretty shy and gave me a light pinch, do you know what could make it like me?

  • That was awesome!

  • Aww! That is just too sweet! What a great bond you have with your hermies! ;3;!!

  • Wow! Changing shells in your hand! How cool is that! I've got a little one who likes to sleep in my hand...it's so cute.

  • AWW, you're so lucky!! i wish my hermie did that with me. :[

  • Woah! My hermit crab is changing right now, in my room. But the problem is, this has never happened before and he is aking a very long time. I don't know if he is regenerating or what, but we are kind of nervous. Does anybody have any pointers for me?

  • Its been 2 years now what happened? did he get a new shell?

  • Beautiful! How did you know it was going to do that? I've only had one crab who would "change" in front of me, but I would never imagine them doing in the palm of my hand!

  • That has only happened to me once.

  • For the record, hermies will change their shells for many reasons, sometimes even just for fun. It has nothing to do with molting.

  • awww that's sweet! usually they just do that when they're molting

  • How awesome!!! That is really neat and special.

  • Wow! That is amazing!
