@sephiroth87932 ball chain acts like a swivel, its not made to be a swivel! guarantee put a swivel on your ball chain and it will actually swivel 100x better!!
well close to the ball you can shorten your poi and still have it swivel and with the handle you can feel certain moves and you can have swivels on both ends which help more or just get ball chains the balls spin without the need of swivels hope this helps =)

What kind of cord do you use on those poi? I can't get orbitals to work with anything by my ball-chains because the cord slips on itself, rather than catching on itself.

I've heard about ball-chain breaking with orbitals, but I do lots of orbitals, and I've never had a chain break, so I'm not sure what to make of that.
here is a tip. try connecting the chains and let it wrap for a split second. then give it one short but strong pull. when you stop pulling make sure it is a hard stop. so give it a short but strong pull then stop completely. that should make your chains catch.
Looks to me like he's using a nylon cord with swivels at the handles. The move is a lot easier using something with tension as opposed to socks that have a lot of give and stretch. With chains it's almost mandatory that you have swivels installed, although not impossible without.
I am currently trying to learn these. Does anyone know if you have to put your palms both facing out as the spinner does here in the video? I can get them to go into an orbital, but not nearly as fast as the spinner.

as for palms - it depends how you hold your poi. It's normal hyperloop which you try to loop as close to hands as possible and when they tangle (make a loop) get your hands firmly outside (equal - if you move your right hand faster, stronger than left it will not last too long - practice and you'll do it :)
yea!!!, F=MA, so, when M= grams, and A is aceleration; change of the speed in the time, so, if you give it lesss grams, thats when you pull, the aceleration change, because of the inicial force, that in this is a constant, jajaja, i will chek it and, try whith sock pois, heavy in the head, flexible, it will help
you don't really need a swivel if you have a ball chain because the balls on the chain can swivel around =)

I think he is using his firepoi. Its a chain with swivel. Hm, i know people who can play this tricks with fire.
the tricky point is cancel this trick without to interloop with the poi. to get it out backwards i cant manage yet :(
