While it was obvious the panel had no counter to David's claims, he definitely came on way too strong. If deconverting theists was as easy as pointing out the logical fallacies in their beliefs, then atheism would be dominant throughout the world. While it was obvious the panel had no counter to David's claims, he definitely came on way too strong. If deconverting theists was as easy as pointing out the logical fallacies in their beliefs, then atheism would be dominant throughout the world. But we know from experience that it's not that easy, and so one man against a mob is not going to end well.

He didn't say that religious people COULDN'T prepare for disasters, he was saying that they should prepare AS IF they were atheists. As in: prepare for the worst, which absolutely involves assuming that your god will not intercede and help you, and so you will be on your own. Fine, pray if you want in your downtime, but in the mean time, your safest course of action is to prepare as if there were no god to come help you out of your troubles.
