  • ITS A SHAME WE NEVER SEEN HIM PLAY WITH ALEX DEL PIERO DURING 1998 WORLD CUP

  • Perrosssd

  • Is that the only miss they can find from Inzaghi? To be frank, Baggio's pass was a tiny bit too weak. He should have squared the ball with his left feet so that the defender did not have a chance to make a late tackle.

  • i wouldn't say Inzaghi missed. That was an excellent block.

  • Baggio had INCREDIBLE spatial awareness and that burst and acceleration he has is unseen, as well as his semi compact body allows for his dribbles and pace to be maintained at faster speeds. He had the most purpose regarding dribbling technique i have ever seen.

  • Lol inzaghi is so shit

  • INJAGI BODOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Baggio is the best Italian dribbler ever

  • @TheKestevon I think many would count Baggio as teh best Italian player ever. Period. The guy could really do it all. Score, dribble, pass, freekicks. Offensively there wasn't much he couldn't do.

  • Fantastico... come porta il pallone in corsa Roberto Baggio vale tremila finte da spot di questi manichini che per ora passano per essere grandi calciatori (Messi escluso).

  • the lineup of Italy from 1998-2002 was so fucking strong they could have won 1 WC 1 Euro if only those fucking idiot coaches put baggio in del piero's place.

  • he shud have been selfish!

  • ti ho visto veramente e sei stato il calciatore migliore della storia italiana......BAGGIO UN MITO!!!!!!

  • Baggio is the best player Italy has had in almost half a century.

  • Where is the amazing skill?

  • Baggio is the BEST ever from Italy so far Better than DelPiero....These Stupid Italian coaches, Caesare Maldinin Benches Baggio in 98....

  • Great player. Comes in just behind Laudrup as my fave during the 90s.

  • Baggio is just pure fucken legend ;D

  • Baggio should have taken a shot on goal. He would have scored and this would rank as one of the most beautiful goals in the history of the World Cup. No, Baggio was too much of a nice person for that, he had to pass.

I mean come on Roby!!! Just be unselfish for once and freaking take the glory!!!!!!!

  • @Shaolinkungfucat That set apart between a real legendary football player and a hype. Messi would take a shot, and Cr would too, because that's how they were, but Roby is not that kind of man. That's why people who had seen him play would always remember him better than those hype.

  • @crackeronut well maybe its about a killer instinct ..his decision to pass cost his team teh goal ..its not like inzaghi is wide open ...baggio messed up

  • Cant really blame inzaghi, that was an immense tackle, love baggio and pippo

  • baggio had the huge misfortune of being hated by trapattoni...that man took his international career away. shame, what a great player he was

  • this is basta spelr

  • BAGGIO IL PIU GRANDE DI TUTTI !!!

  • Baggio was selfless at times, he should have shot at goal with his left foot, instead of trying to return the favour to Inzaghi who had assisted his goal earlier in the game.

  • And yet they continued to play Del Piero over him for the remainder of that tournament. Baggio was clearly the greater player and on much better form at the time...why did they insist on Del Piero? I don't understand the Italians.

  • i heard a commentator say the other week that inzaghi was born offside.

  • @azertyuiop32

That is Alex Ferguson's comment on Inzaghi. Inzaghi is the most dangerous striker against the offside trap.

  • @nustabadheer

the commentator must have got that one from ferguson then. i thought it was hilarious but true.

inzaghi has been a tremendous goalscorer and poacher. always a threat and still in great shape for his age (think it might be about 37?)

  • Experto crede Roberto.

  • baggio is a legend

  • only cassano and pirlo 're not enough for us.... we need new baggio's, totti's and del piero's...!

  • @saadi09ify que ne dici di Quagliarella?

  • that miss is hardly inzaghi's fault..

  • Se avesse segnato lì sarebbe stato un goal straordinario per un mondiale...magari meglio se si dribblava il portiere e segnava. ::D

  • amazing skill that? WTF

  • Roberto Baggio best player ever!!!!!!!!!

  • ahah pizzul!! baggio stava dribblando mezzo mondo e lui elucubrava su altro

  • no comments ..... just a legend !!!!!!!!

    * i see that many of you mentioning and comparing roberto with zizo .... mmmm

although baggio considered one of the best players of all time

no one can be compared to the best of the best - zidane- ( i am a fan of juve and italy !!!!)

  • not really amazing, gets lucky at the first and doesnt really do anything but dribble at the 2nd :|

  • thnx!!!

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmminkia che azione baggio!! non me la ricordavo! troppo 1mito!

  • Baggio was Italy,s in form player leading upto the 98 World cup and showed his class once again in this tournament.

    Italy,s best player.

They have should have built the team round him for years.

  • I totally agree with u

  • It wasn't a miss. It wasn't even a chance

  • what r u talking about inzaghi could've stopped it gone around the player and shooted at the empty net.

  • baggio should've been selected ahead of delvecchio in 2002 wc

also, the acceleration to get past the last defender in this clip is unbelievable

  • Delvecchio certainly should not have been selected but the thing with Baggio is that if if they had every intention of playing Totti and/or Del Piero at the same time I just can't see how he could've fit in, plus they had Vieri, Inzaghi and Montella. You an only take so much talent at the same position.

  • As a 35 year old, Baggio could've been a 'super substitute'... his mere presence would have been inspirational for the team, plus he was good enough to be in italia's top 23 anyway.

You're right, you can only take so much talent at the same position, but it's all about picking the absolute best players you can.

Apart from the reserve goalkeepers, delvecchio was the ONLY player in that squad not to get a run in the 2002 wc. baggio would've pressed much harder for a run.

  • As a substitute he could've been useful. As far as Delvecchio goes, his selection turned out to be absurd. He was the only player to not play and unless someone had gotten injured he would've continued to not play. His selection was pointless and as long as they were not going to use a forward they might as well have picked Baggio for the bench. Although I guarantee you, as you said, much would've been made of this in the press and the coach might've been tempted to use him.

  • @TomatoBasil23 , remember also Baggio was hugely popular in the far East at the time and his mere presence would have had the local populace cheering Italy on. I agree also he was still good enough to be in that squad.

  • @TomatoBasil23 : Baggio should have been selected over Del Piero in '98, and he should have played in 2002 instead of 29 year old newcomer Cristiano Doni.....and he should have retired altogether after Euro 2004.

  • @advancedtotal i agree that baggio should've been selected over del piero in terms of the starting 11, but del piero deserved to make the squad of 23 in the 1998 world cup squad still. what i meant is that in terms of the squad of 23, baggio should've been in, and delvecchio should never have been selected to go to asia in the first place at a cost of baggio

  • @TomatoBasil23 : But Delvecchio was a CF, while Baggio was a second striker!! Two different positions

  • @advancedtotal they aren't like for like, but having baggio as a legendary supersub would've been a whole lot more beneficial to the team than having a CF like delvecchio who sat on his arse all tournament

  • inzaghi has made a career out of tap-ins, and he couldnt do the great baggio's brilliance some justice here...

  • My eyes were on Baggio and I was spechless when he went dashing like the Ferrari u all want to have. Before 98 World Cup I heard Baggio no more in 20's .Old. Now I can know that When I become 30 I I can stil be l be as good as 20 with better experience = a better man then in 20's.

  • If only Italy had played Baggio more.

They may have progressed to the final in 98 had they brought him on earlier against France,

One of the games true greats.

  • baggio could score the goal by himself .. but he passed it to inzaghi cuz inzghi assist a goal to roby before this skill .. thats why baggio is the best .. he doesn`t think about himself .. but he also think about his mates !! forza baggio 4 ever !!

  • @alqasem I don't think Baggio did that in gratitude for anything, it would be unprofessional, he assessed the situation and choosed the best option, that's because hi is great

  • @alqasem Baggio should have scored it himself but it does not matter aviamo vinto lo stesso

  • @alqasem i rem this match!

  • @GregLake88 Biggest fanboy I've seen in a while?

  • @GregLake88 you do not know anything about football. zidane was CLASS and so was baggio. grow up kid seriously only kids compare players its so CHILDISH and all those who voted up for you what has the world come to

  • zidane sucks. nowhere near Baggio's level

  • i do agree

  • wow inzaghi looks like he hasnt snorted coke yet.

  • SUPER PIPPO!

  • super BAGGIO!!!

  • ronaldo pele maradona baggio the greatest in history

  • Roberto Baggio lost on penalties on all his world cup apperances. He single handly brought Italy to the final in 1994. He deserves world cup champion more than Romario in my opinion.

  • sadly soccer its about scoring goals.. not who plays better =(

  • lol!!!!! obviously you know jackshit since you call it soccer. It's never been about winning, results or scoring goals. It's about playing. That's why people remember the 74 Dutch team and the 82 Brasil team even if they didn't win anything. Fuck off to another sport you cock.

  • Baggio > Pele e Maradona

  • Baggio might be the greatest player Italy ever had on the field and outside,he never became a diva like other big stars..So unfair he never won the world cup he deserved it!

  • He became such an important player for the team that Juventus became totally dependent on Baggio. In fact, whenever they were fighting for the Scudetto against the then almighty Milan, Juventus would end up giving in only when Baggio was out injured as the rest of the team around him seemed to lose half of its quality and ability without its captain.

  • His physical problems might have stopped any other player, but Baggio kept going on and arrived to the top of the world. He can probably be defined as the best player of the 90s with Zidane being his closest rival. In the heart of his fans and all football lovers in general who had the opportunity to see him in action, Baggio was a show to watch and is one of those players that remind you why people love football so much.

  • @xukun0

    what a great statement mate

  • there was a zidane hype i never undersood.but thats another storie of hyping people in media this times.a few good moments and you are the greatest, bla bla bla.. in 1998 zidane did nothing on the way to the final.1996 zidane did nothing for france. in the final 2000 zidane did nothing to beat italy.

  • maybe you are right .. maybe zidane didn`t do all the work for his team .. while baggio did every thing to the azzuri in the WC 1994 .. and he had dangerous injury .. too bad he didn`t win that world cup !!

  • @alqasem there is a difference between winning a world cup and being on a team which wins one

  • @alqasem In 2006 he beated the "unstopable team".

    He WAS France.

  • @marabaggio10 i agree..Zidane gets a lot of credit he does not deserve...sure he was a joy to watch but he was not consistent...he wud disappear for most early games then show up in a final and score..that is not consistency..but thats the media for you...he was probably the most elegant, not the most efficient...i would put Rivaldo, Baggio and Figo ahead pf him...but he was a great player though, just hugely overrated just like Rooney..lol

  • @marabaggio10 hahaha what are you talking about?? Zidane was the best player between youri djorkaeff on french team that world cup and so on euro 2000, and so in wc 2006 SO PLEASE STOP BULLSHITTING!!!

  • @marabaggio10 so true. i don't understand teh zidane hype all around teh world. its maybe coz most of teh hype is created by stupid kids who probably never saw zidane play before 2006 or before teh real madrid era. even in real madrid he just won a liga and CL in 6 yrs. 1998 WC was won by ronaldo's failure and france's legendary where zidane had no part to playexcept scoring 2 easy goals in teh final.

  • @marabaggio10 everyone who saw zidane play like really watched him and not just you tube videos knows he was hugely overrated, like cristina and rooney. in his whole career his highest tally of assist in a season was 10. he was never a decisive player. i agree he is a legend, his first touch and ball control was legendary but you can't say france won WC and 2000 euro because of him.

  • @marabaggio10 Wtf Zidane carried France in the midfeild for 8 years. How did he do nothing? Granted in 98 Zidane didnt help much on the road to the final but to score 2 goals in the final itself is not easy as I'm sure you know. Then in 2000 Zidane was the midfield factor that let France win their games. Do I even need to say anything about 2006? Don't hate on Zidane while singing Baggio's praises. They're both outstanding players.

  • @mrfrost0 .a lot of players outshone zidane by miles in euro 2000 and in 2006 he only had two good games va spain and brazil.

  • @marabaggio10 You are right about Zidane and I agree with what Anieli of Juve said he is a player who is more elegant than effiicient but to the media if you score 2 goals in a world cup final you are among the best even if all you did was be at the right place at the right time and then he scored a penalty in the 2006 final. He even missed 2 of France's games in 98 because of a red card

  • @marabaggio10 In 2006 he was the team, whit juventus he was very important, why you forget these facts?

and also, when Baggio will score two goals in final agaisn't Brazil we will talk again.

  • @marabaggio10 baggio isn't half the player zidane was. stop with the comparisons, because there is none

  • @aceshigh1087 hahahahahahahahahah omg that is a joke

  • WHAT!?

Zidane was cooler to see but Baggio was as if not more talented just different style and less promoted than Zizu.

Ronny was a fast runner but average dribler it was his ability to outsmart other players what made him great.

Besides his speed and dribling ability people forget his skill to take free kicks from long range. Plus Baggio had more ShootingPower than Zidane ever had.

The only thing Baggio lacked was the ability to put down the ball Zidane had but that's it.

  • baggios skills are unmatched since maradona. forget zidane...

  • baggio, fucking amazing!! love you also Inzaghi!

  • Inzaghi was on the ground as Baggio dribbled by him, but he got back up and made a quick run to almost get the goal. Love Baggio...

  • ke fenomeno ke era BAGGIO

  • ke genio...ke classe
