I've started making something similar now. Do you get much flex on the disc when you apply pressure sanding? I've got a lawnmower motor, but it seems quite fast, but I'll give it a try!
@NickD680 The platter is 5/8" thick so no, it doesn't flex at all. An electric lawnmower motor is probably too fast and pretty noisy as well. Better to find an induction motor, like a furnace blower motor, etc.
@jpheisz i am going to use a corded drill as a motor and 175mm sanding disc. A small sander project which can be mounted to the side of foldable work bench. i couldnt manage to understand how to make a section to bend the table in angles.Oh,not to mention that my budget is only scrap wood and some bolts (=
wow thats really awesome. I like how it kind of seams (at least from watching in the video) to reduce the noise because of it being made of wood. great job it came out very nice
Hy, I´m a friend from Mattias and I saw your very interesting sander on his homepage. But I am realy interestet in the background music. I´m saerching this title a realy long time. Could you tell me this titel of the music. Thanks.
@lawerenceoshea Thanks! I don't have any usable plans for this. As it is built using a specific motor, plans would be useless unless you had that same motor.
it wobbles

@DARKSCOPE001 Thanks. It's is very quiet and doesn't vibrate much. Well balanced spinning parts, I guess.

@Tuomelaz Thanks! I usually try to build what I need instead of buying, and a lot of times it works out well.

@kbthfrtedserg Thanks! The music is Air on the G String - JS Bach. I thought it would make for a relaxing listen during the slideshow.
