The helicopter is a frickin moron for seeing someone down there and landing. If she's filing her report, give a shit and move the helicopter somewhere else
its a heli pad, not a news studio. What if he was landing cause he was at the end of his fuel cycle and about to tap into his reserves. Would you expect him to fly somewhere else. If that was his pad, (im sure it was) he would have his fuel truck and support vehicles there for him. I say moron reporter. No different then seeing them reporting on a hurricane, they deserve what is coming to them.
That is awesome...they where stuck between a rock and a hardplace in that situation...Sure it would have been better to cut away but damn at that point the people in the control room where probably rolling on the floor laughing instead of at the switcher. Kudos to the crew for recovering but the playback for the voice over was off...I am sure that came up at a staff meeting. BTW, I know the dude they interviewed I think he was a scout leader when I was a kid..Horley or something...
I know what happened as I live in Lillooet: The reporter was inside the restricted area where the helicopters land without any permission to do so. There are very clear signs telling people to stay out. The pilot was probably a little irritable due to the massive number of hours he's had to work on many consecuative days on. What a stupid camera crew... purely their fault. FYI... all media groups over hyped this fire big time... Love the question: " Do you have a helicopter near you?"..!
Wow You obviously dont know what happened. The media wouldnt have been in that spot if the forestry department didnt put them there. Maybe you should think before you speak next time.
The media did not have permission to be reporting in the "restricted area" (aka landing area).. plus this had nothing to do with Forestry, this took place at the Caribou Chilcotin Helicopters base... who's the youidiot222 now?
What an idiot. An active helipad, and why HE is so close?!? Back the fuck up ya stupid idiot! It's his pad; you're the one that's too close!

"it's an active helipad with choppers coming and going" from her own mouth... yet she wonders why she almost got pancaked.
almost had a contender for the Darwin Award.

She probably shouldn't be filing her report from a heli-pad. Fighting forest fires is hard enough without reporters standing where your fuel is.

CBC, Global and CTV had permission to be there. Maybe people shouldn't comment when they don't have a clue what they are talking about!!!!

I was there and talked to the pilot. He had no idea she was there and he didn't seem to care.
TimeLapseHD 2 years ago
I think the helicopter pilot did that on purpose cause the pilot knew they were recording.
