To tell you the truth, a good Hip Hop Artist (Not no Gucci Mane, one with real lyrics, good vocals) + RHCP Vocals over this would be good as fuck. If I get a microphone I could try it with my vocals and Hip Hop skills.
@aleiva101 But their soul IS what makes them play like this. If anything, people trading their souls for this power lost out big time, and the members of RHCP got the discarded funk left in the ether and overloaded of funky. Hence the B-sides.
I'm looking for the B-Sides Instrumental #1 song from the Californication album and cannot find it anywhere can someone point me in the right direction, Thanks!
But the song Around the world beginning an album with the name of Californication is a good choice.
Lots of very good songs steal be unknown today and it's because of albums structures. I heard about a musician saying that no one really understand how to shoose songs for albums (he might be J. Homme). He was totally all right ! It's an artistic choice.....
They should have used this instrumental as the intro to the Californication album. I've been thinking about it and I've decided that this would have been one of the coolest intros to an album ever. This would've totally set the tone for the rest of the album. I mean seriously imagine putting on the Californication CD and this being the first thing you heard and then Around the World. That just would've been spectacular. What were they thinking not including this on the album?
nice idea! this would sound pretty sweet at the beginning of the CD. they would have to make sure the bass guitar is mixed in nice and loud, cuz the bass is tight here too. my favorite part though is john's strumming at 1:20. just too funky.
yeah its not bad.. but it sounds too funky for being on the Californiacation album. but i guess it could have been a decent song for by the way or stadium arcadium. just not on californiacation
u know mike watt interviewed them and they got along perfectly fine. dont blame one bands "failure" on another's success based on ur own opinions about who ripped off who.
It's a lot better than Instrumental #1 that's for sure, but not as good as Instrumental #3 (Slowly Deeply).
It seems there are enough Cali B Sides to make a whole album, and there were for By The Way too. It's ironic that on these two albums, the b sides were good enough to make both albums double albums, and yet Stadium Arcadium is a double album and it sounds like a load of b sides they would easily leave off if it was a single album.
yeah.. but I think there are a lot of awsome tracks from the SA-era that also were left out of the album. Save this Lady, Million miles of water, Mercy Mercy and so on
Nope, never released on a single, but on a bonus disc in the 2-disc bonus version of Californication. Released only in Australia. WHY?!?!?!? Now nobody will ever get this song oh wait....I got it ;)
Could ya get me a track list for the special edition, as i can't find one anywhere? I would probably have all the tracks but it's worth it if you could message me the list. Many thanks.
it's funny how this song sounds just like the other songs in californication, the same style, you can easily tell what kind of music they were focous on those days.
Can someone emailme an iTune version of this song? That would really help me out. I could trade those iTunes exclusives for it (fat dance, over funk, quixoticelixer)in return.
just in case you didnt see the overly large letters across the screen saying B-SIDE,i might be so kind to point out that this obviously wasnt on the album, and that it may have been a B-SIDE to something from the album.or may be just an unreleased leaked track blah blah etc...
you won't get it anyway... sorry for you. you appear to be a good guy and all but you suck, somewhat. nickyjohnson took his time. so, live and learn, dumbass. go to record stores, live the culture and LEARN, dammit. till then, you level 1 geek
true, i think its catholic school girls rule, lol. anyway its a matter of opinion (which i guess eveyrthing is) cuz some people might not like lets say dani california, or punk rock classic on MM and such. but yea, personally every song i've heard is at least "good" some i like more than others tho, not a fan of their new stuff.
i can definitely see why you don't. For a while i would just skip it on CD, because i felt that the song was retarded because it was writen about basketball, and i just thought it was childish. But then i just listened to it for what it was, and the bass line is cool, the guitaring is great, the drums are absolutely wonderful, i just don't care for the lyrics.
But that is definitely one that i have to go into with an open mind and not judge it because what it is about.
Me too, I always used to skip it but now I kinda like it. Plus, I think its cool that they used to be so obsessed with the Lakers that they actually made a song about Magic and them. How many bands make songs just for their fav sports team? I think thats pretty cool.
Yeah it's cool how they like the lakers so much. There's a line in Mellowship slinky in B major that goes, "Rockin to the beat of the fabulous forum, my lakers I adore 'em."
Savior is OK, but i think This Velvet Glove is oneof the best and most underated songs theyve made. Oh, and Funky Crime is an awesome song that should have got a lot more attention.
