You know its true sir....Rekha hardly does any moves in Umrao Jaan...the camera focuses on her face more. Her facial expressions are nice but barely any kathak moves.
You should also remember one thing. The era both Umrao was made. Rekha's umrao was an extremely low budget film. Rekha had to wear very very cheap clothing and jwellery. But look at her acting and facial expression. The dances in old Umrao focuses more on expressions (the most important part of Kathak I feel). And let us not forget her acting. Also what esle I could say about Madhubala? She was simply flawless. Also not a trained dancer at all but expressions at the right spot.

the original movie barely has any good Kathak moves. Madhubala just spins a lot. Also she dances better than Rekha had in Umrao Jaan.
