  • Unreal how the street musician was able to improvise the lead instrumental break

  • This is interesting! Had they occasionally decided to perform or it had been planned? Because it seems the drummer and the rest are just street musicians.

  • @Dr666Love they were walking and then saw the street musicians, they stoped and asked them if they knew how to play the song, the musicians said yes,so that was it...this is a real band,so humble and talented! :)

  • Still sounds great.

  • NAILS that falsetto doesn't he? :)

  • One of many reasons New York CIty kicks ass! You don't have cool shit like this happen in small obscure towns like I live in!

  • yes, they didn't get the respect they deserved in America. I was a huge fan of their's during their Hunting High and Low days, and continued to buy their stuff here until they stopped selling it in the states. Luckily I have found alot of their stuff on amazon, and I am buying it up now. I just bought their 25 cd, and it is amazing. And as for appearance Pal looks a little aged, but Mags and Morten are still hotter and sexier than ever. Especially for men in their 50s. Whoa baby.

  • Wtf 3.00

  • Comment removed

  • these guys are like 50 or 60 and they look like they are 30

  • @bb33nnii in fact they morten harket the lead singer is 52

  • Mags: dance for me, pleaseeeeeee!!!

  • @michealboryalis eather "hunting high and low" or its " the sun always shines on T.V

  • @00nevermore00 Problem is. I did NOT ask you. And that's a fact.

  • You can't deny the FACT that THIS song MADE A-HA HUGE in the 80s... I do live in Europe and if you ask one million people in the streets here to name just ONE A-Ha Song that comes to their mind they would ALL answer TAKE ON ME...So stop with your arrogance anti US and learn to respect other people knowledge and opinions..

  • @MisterBigJones Well, it isn´t exactly news that a-ha were heavily underpromoted and underappreciated. Most Europeans as Americans probably wouldn´t have a clue who they were.

  • Cool.

  • You can't blame the Americans for not knowing all a-ha's music, you need to blame the U.S. music industry... if it wasn't for iTunes or YouTube we Americans wouldn't know how talented they were and still are...

  • Brilliant voice.

  • obviously, only a few peeps are there. but it's sad to see a small stage, aha would rather have a large pavilion.

  • people are actually walking past this... how is that even possible?

  • Comment removed

  • The best

  • @GreySkyShades maybe but he has 5 kids

  • nice :D

  • Pure Gold! Real talent from when songwriters where singers and could do both extraordinarily!

  • that is sooo cool... I bet those other musicians couldn´t believe their luck.

  • fuck this is a cool video. Thx for posting.

  • bom pra caralho

  • Americans, Americans. How many people watched that live, 50?

They rather prefer Justina Bieber and Lady Gaga and, other computer made material, and they call it music.

    A-ha is music.

  • @ordahlen please... if this was done in the 80's, there would probably be a couple more people, right. This song is good. But Ah-ha is not The Cure, Depeche Mode, New Order or U2. Let's knock the new talents.. just because you can't relate. I don't even litsen to Beiber. But more power to people who persue their dreams. Gaga is actually pretty good, but you can't get pass the persona. Musicians will create music out of anything that is available to them. From computers to spoons. No restrictions

  • @utubemusicjunkie

But still, you can't compare Gaga and Bieber to real music like A-ha. It's not even worth comparing. It's sad that todays kids grow up to most of the shit that's on radio today.

  • @utubemusicjunkie in everywher aha is great as the one you named, only in the states they are not equal as depeche mode or u2, in eurpe and in the rest of the world aha is a legendary band, you got to listen to them, watch youtube youll find out, they are much more than take on me

  • I also want you to come to Japan by all means.

  • There amazing.

  • very disappointing guitar solo wtf man

  • AMAZING

  • @creangga ahh... nicely spotted! When I wrote that comment I didn't actually notice the GREEK text in the guy's "uniform".... But I did notice what resembles a P for "Police" in his BACK (can only see a little of it though).

  • i didn't know that a E5 note in headvoice was considered as impressive...because i can't sing beyond E5 and that really pisses me off..

Anyway..... the A ha singer is really a good vocalist...

  • God Damn, Morten has to be in the gym, all the freakin time, am 3-4 days a week, and still cant look 1/2 as good, Great Genitics, or WTF ?!

  • @supersonicbird11 Norwegian...

  • Wow- I'm surprised he can still hit that note in the chorus. Yeah Norwegians!

  • They are so hot! This is my all-time favorite song.

  • A-Ha never got their due respect in America. They are anything but one hit wonders. They're legends in Europe. Where are all the 80's bands now? Most are gone, drugged out, fat or dead. These guys all look great and have passed the test of time.

  • @UncleFooFoo68 Well they may not be to much famous in USA, but I live in Brazil and I gotta say that here they are very very famous and respected :D

  • EPIC AT TS

  • Great performance !!!!!!!!!!

  • classic

  • look how Magne is shaking his hips in 00:30, cute :-)))

  • Grandi grandi grandi!!!!

  • Tunin' up the instruments fellas? For "take on me?"

    ehh..

  • This is how u tell the real singers from the fake

  • Geniales Noruegos...

  • i can hit the high note too but im not as good as he is. ill never be. but im okay with that =p

  • It's a-ha unplugged!!!!! KICK ASS!!!!

  • COOL VERSION! I like it!

Check out mine if you get a chance! :)

    Thanks Kirk

  • i have the full version with no annoying cut

  • Morten's voice is sheer perfection! Amazing! Surprised he didn't get jumped.

  • Morten's voice is sheer perfection! Amazing!

  • Great band now reduced to begging/singing for tips? 95% of the people there dont know who they are.

  • @sanfranguy9 i doubt that

  • @sanfranguy9

This was just an appearance for the press. A spontanius idea. a-ha has toured and released music from 1985 to 2010 ( when they broke up ) and sold around 70 million albums and singles. Their last studio album was released in 2009.

  • @sanfranguy9 you are totally wrong, a-ha is wide world famous, only in the usa they are known as one hit wonder, they are famous in europe, south america, asia

  • you are totally wrong only in usa they are considered one hit wonder, they are famous everywhere, south america asia europe, they had recorded 10 studio albums and all were sucsessfull

  • @cristinawilligs What is their second most famous song?

  • @MichaelBoryAlis the living daylights, the blood that move this body, stay on these roads, slender frame, you are the one, the sun always shines on tv, crying in the rain, is not my intention to argue with other posters, maybe is a fact that people who post in youtube are always in fighting mode

  • @cristinawilligs WHY WOULD YOU SURMISE ONE IS IN A FIGHTING MODE BY ASKING WHAT OTHER SONGS ARE POPULAR, THANKS FOR ANSWERING THOUGH.

  • @MichaelBoryAlis is ok then, sorry about that. is just that everybody is trying to argue and i almost got used to, so im sorry

  • also tellme what is the second most famous song from depeche mode after i cant get enough, and from the beatles since loveme do, you cant just answer

  • fun...

  • wow, I never expected this.:o

    Unplugged ftw

  • I wish they'd come to perform in the streets of Helsinki too!!!! Love this band!

  • i thought he was gonna kiss him for a second at 2:54. hah

  • and to think I just walked in that same spot just the other day when visiting times square....

  • 5 stars!!!

  • ahesome!! uhuhuuu

  • u dont how much I wish I were there the moment the band started playing, lucky audience!!

  • MUITO MASSA, ISSO É QUE É BANDA

  • I don't think this will ever go out of popularity. Still one of my favorite A-Ha tracks.

  • ruined by some motorcycle fags

  • but because the singers of today are not like them singing in the middle a road would be nice

  • The high note is orgasmic

  • i sang this song in school for a contest and won second because i can hit a c major like morten

  • @tankerplant

You won 2nd? Let me guess...the other person sang Taylor Swfit.

  • @Airsoftsniperkid even better justin bieber, the faggot lol

  • @tankerplant

Well, Beiber does have the voice...of a 6 year old that is.

  • nice this band is impressive 20 plus years later

  • Are you freaking kidding me? Where was I? *pouts*

  • Wow, he really can hit those notes. Awesome! They are too high for me, even. (Unless I'm really warmed up vocally.) And I'm a girl, LOL!

  • essa musica eh show

  • He was performing with some Bolivian dudes that were there and added the sound of their instruments! Look closely and you'll see Charango (kind of like a Yukalayle) and sampolla (rows of flutes). NIIICE!

  • @Heartlezzzz - too bad he's not singing. Waaktaar is.

  • @Heartlezzzz - wait - i was wrong. sorry.

  • to me it seem to look like the a-ha were just walking by and they decited to stay and play

  • Just a perfect song, honestly it got me through a horrific experience (molested) when I was young (born in 81).

    I love a-ha.

  • i find it cool whenever he whispers/sings silently - kind of sweet nothings during every performance. ^^ SIMPLY THE BEST!

& Yeah.. They were so lucky to be there that time. 5/5

  • This is a real gem, thanks for posting!

  • They're sooo cool!))))

  • Que vídeo mas arrecho se la comieron en plena calle eso son unos verdaderos músicos con talento vivo.

  • it's wonderful in ny, walking on the streets unexpectedly u can meet famous musicians performing live under the sun...

  • lollllllllllllllllllllllllll

  • Is this the real band?

  • Yup.

  • 1:13 a policeman (or what looks like one) comes. I would expect that to happen in any impromptu performance in the streets.

But look closely when he comes. What I didn't expect is the policeman to be VIDEOTAPING the performance with his personal digital camera!! Lol. :)

  • MagellanOfBass: Nice to see a good cop every now and then. Who knows? He could have been a real dick, interrupted them, asked for permits and all that crap. People were enjoying it so he let them play :) Right thing to do. (assuming he could have decided to be a nuisance)

  • a-ha.s newest album, foot of the mountain reached nr.1 on the german album chart adn nr. 5 on the UK album chart. They will play concerts in the USAA in march 2010

  • you know nothing of performing....how about warming up? How about accoustics? How about timing and a familiar beat.....which this one was spontaneous. Duh! And they still sound fantastic! They are true stars. God bless!

  • ur a fucko, theyve been performing longer then you were born you dumb fucker

  • How do you know that ?

  • i dont know that, and quit backing that guy up fucko

  • They were walking be because people wouldnt recognize the guy, or they would think its just a no-name band doing a cover

  • 2:57

  • What are the crowds doing just standing there not even clapping....I would have been jumping up and down singing along so excited. Maybe none of them were teens from the 80s?

  • ...MY GOD!!! If I was there, I would come straight to him and kiss his feet... Morten is truly amazing!

  • Cripes how lucky can you get? Way to go AHA!

  • I wish to be there too Lilimacca.
