You don't actually have to copy the audio clip from the first track to the second to do this. You can make a completely blank clip in the second track and throw in your automation envelopes. Copying the clip isn't wrong, just not necessary. The beauty of this is if you have clips in multiple tracks that you want modified in the same way you can just direct the audio to your processing track. This technique offers so many possibilities. Thanks for the video.

Oh wait! I didn't see that you had changed the variations of "Chord" to go back to First! This makes way more sense now, I was wondering how the original "Chord" pattern seemed to come through, because for me it was all over the place!
This is amazing, thank you so much! I have a song in the works that sounds incredible now thanks to this! When you made the variations on the start points of the sound (1:55) did you choose them randomly or did you choose specific points where you knew certain sounds would be happening?

awesome, awesome, awesome. I've known about follow actions in Live but never really experimented with them. Thanks for this video, really appreciate it.
Nice dude! I just bought the PadKontrol which is an awesome midi controller by the way.. and when tried to install the bundled Abelton Live Lite 6 software that came with it- it rejected the serial number that was on the back of the CD ...does anyone out there have a working serial they could spare or know where to get one??? thanks i'd really appreciate it...
@bjarkebech ableton rules :D if he played the chords himself which he likely did, it took 1 minute. If he used a sample it took 10 seconds.. Viva la ableton!.. thanks a lot for this sick vid too, i just used this technique in a new track with a nice guitar sample, it worked wonders :) Peace and love all :D
nice tutorial, i do similar things myself by laying out all my chords and assigning them keys
i like the way you used a dummy clip to automate the paramaters of an effect, if only you could change the envelopes of other channles. It would mean I could switch between different envelope patterns automaticly, i currently have to copy and paste them.
Anyway Live 8 is coming soon and has Max intergration =>, it's so gonna rule!!
Before the drums came in there was clipping sounds in between every 3 notes or so. Is that because it is a bad software synth or does it have something to do with Ableton as a software.
Fortunately That "clipping" can be avoided easily if needed. There can be several solutions for that, basically modifying the amplitude envelopes to produce smooth transitions will do the trick.
If you need more technical data on why that is happening don't hesitate on ask.
What I found interesting on your comment is what you said about a "software synth". Where you saw that "software synth" you are talking about?
Thanks for the response. Anyway, when I said software synth I meant a synth from Ableton live. For example, in reason I could choose a sampler or a synth. Sometimes specific patches from a specific synth create noises, either distortion or clipping. Where you using an external synth. If so, what kind were you using? I just got a nord lead 3 though i can't use it in Reason. I intend on getting Ableton soon. Looks amazing. Do you perform live with ableton?
I understood that you was talking about an Ableton softsynth, my doubt is "why?", becuase I'm not using any soft synth on this video.
About performing live with Live, yeah I perform and produce all in Live, mostly using just the Ableton synths and effects, I have a lot of hardware, synths, samplers, effects, but to be honest I don't need of them, just Live ;)
THANKS GUSTAVO BRAVETTI!!!! Very nice tutorial! Always nice to explore new techniques! This one is huge! Keep on with the tutorials!!! Cant wait for the next one! Thanks for the share of knowledge
allways a huge help ....i can't wait for those "lessons" about compression so i can stop killing my tracks with all the wrong settings :)) Cheers from Portugal

He's explaining how to do something technical in Ableton--something not immediately apparent to beginning users.
He's not attempting to entertain with this video.
Synthetic and sampled music has moved very far beyond the place where you appear to place it. It is REMARKABLY powerful.

When you set the different offsets, it blew my mind! Really surprises me that it's that simple to create so great sounds.
Did you play the chords yourself? Was it a loop, VST, etc?

indeed it is a chord I made in Operator :)

I think all softwares can produce good results.
Please provide some links to some of your works with FL to have a better idea the way you take FL's advantage.
thanks

check my Featured Video in my page ^.^
DreamBeni 2 years ago
I see,
Honestly, I think that FL is far far better than what you just show on your feature video.
I advice you to look for some unique features on FL, then make a video showing that features.
To show something that can be made on all DAWs is pointless.
Best,
Gustavo
