No library is complete without Franz Kafka. (Always keep a pile of money in the bank, a rainy-day fund, for a lawyer -- you never know when you will get that knock on the door and become the protaganist of The Trial.
Did you actually like "Valley of the Dolls"? I thought it one of the most depressing books I have ever read. And what did you think of the ending of "Der Schwarm"? I've not read it yet, but some of my friends hated the end.
Thank you! I've read "Valley of the dolls" about 8 years ago, so I don't remember that much, but I remember that I liked it =) The thing with the ending of "Der Scwarm" is that it doesn't really give a resolution, but despite that it's a great book! I read the "Ring" triology because I watched the movie and it didn't give me enough information on how the girl actually got into the TV =) And the books satisfied my curiosity. I like them, it's an interesting style.
We should totally exchange some books some time. Büchersendungen are pretty cheap and that way we not only save money we'd need for new books, but we also receive books that someone has tested firsthand. I have a lot of English books, if you'd like.
And what I forgot to mention: The worst ending is (for me) the one of "Fräulein Smillas Gespür für Schnee" I was so angry when I turned over the last page...
English books are quite expensive over here and I buy most books used because I just read too much to buy new books all the time. But sometimes I find some interesting english books :-)
Your video ideas are so random. I enjoy seeing the new ideas. I would be interested to know how speaking two (or more) languages is... I don't know what. Like having a foot in two worlds? Dan
It wasn't really my idea to show some books, it's a german conspiracy thing. And the way I did it results from the construction of my bookshelf.
I never thought about this language thing like that, but english is everywhere. But I'd love to speak it more fluently, I hate it when I can't find the right word for something, but I also don't want to script my vlogs =)
I understand. I've moved so much in the last seven years, all my books are in boxes at my sister's house. My books and records are the things I've always wanted with me the most but are the biggest pain to move. I finally sold my records which I kind of regret, but really had no choice. They can mostly be replaced by cd's, but the books can't be replaced.
Du hast Stil, was man an deinen Büchern sehen kann.

A very beautiful video, muserine.

Also, how was the Ring trilogy?

OMG, it took my months to surpress a horrible ending to an otherwise decent book. Now you have gone and reminded me again! Ahhhhh!

the best writer you never heard of: V.S. Naipaul (good in any language)

Thanks for the hint. I looked him up at Amazon and it sounds interesting. I'll give him a place on my list :-)

Don't say that "R" word too loud ;-)

He said the r-word! *gasp*
And your English is great, Kerstin!

That's a pretty well rounded collection. How about some classics like Hemingway, Dickens, Tolstoy, Mark Twain.

I skipped the classic-section ;-)
And I simply don't have all my books in my appartement, there are still some boxes in the basement and at my parent's house...

Herrlich!
Das Hörbuch kenne ich nur in Auszügen.
