HUGE SPOILER ALERT!!: Cillian Murphy will definitely 'be returning as Crane/Scarecrow in the Dark Night Rises. Here's why :if you remeber correctly the SCarecrow was detained next to "Brian' the imposter batman in the parking lot by the real Batman. I agree with most of what you say. The title itself "The Dark Knight Rises", it does sound cool, but I agree that it does ties a little too heavily to the previous movie, having the phrase "The Dark Knight" in the title again.
I disagree in that Killer Croc can't be nolanized. Apart from being a guy with a skin disease, he could be re-created and added realistic motivations and interesting origins. But Batman does have better-known and more formidable enemies in his rogues gallery, i agree.
@The12tool Nice try kid, but I'm not English! And speaking of great combacks.... "fag"? Really? What are you, 12 years old? Oh wait.... you've answered the question for me, never mind.

@themisterjefe I don't think they nesessarily need Bane to have the venom toxin, but after the previous films had Scarecrow's fear toxin, I don't think this would be a big stretch. In Nolan I trust ;)
@themisterjefe I think this has the potential to be better than Dark Knight. Nolan will find a way to do Bane that will cause many people, myself included, to appreciate him far more.
ok look i kno since heath ledger died, ppl think they cant find a replacement, but they probably could, i kno of a non-famous acter on here that played the joker really well, but it was on youtube
@synastergates5 Because it would be disrespectful to Heath Ledger, to "replace" him. Besides, Christopher Nolan has said hundreds of times now that The Joker won't be in it at all.
@TheRedemptionRain It would work perfectly. Listen to what Shades says. Make Arkham Asylum the focual point of the movie. Plus, Scarecrow is the villain with the history with Batman in this continuity.
Plus, you're saying that Shades is wrong, but you're trying to shove four major villianous characters into the movie. What, do you want it to be Spider-Man 3?
@EyeHeartJackman Ok 1st of their are 2 female leads, Talia Al Ghul makes a lot of sense as for Catwoman maybe not but who else obviously not Poison Ivy or Harley Quinn, and Black Mask fits perfect in Nolan's Batman universe since Gotham City is crawling with mobs, and Batman is now a criminal and Hugo Strange can be the one working with the police to find him, and Nolan is smart he can turn this into a physiological battle, just like Nolan did with Joker convincing everyone is naturally evil
@EyeHeartJackman and as for Scarecrow, what are the chances of him being the main villain, think about it better yet wait till the movie comes out, cuz I am sure hes not, Nolan stated he wanted to do something NEW, and do you think Tom Hardy would be playing as Scarecrow instead of Cillian Murphy (hes been Scarecrow for the 1st 2 films)? Yah best we can guess is that if the Scarecrow returns he will only have 10 mins of screen time, think of the fans do they want to see him for all 3 movies?
@EyeHeartJackman Oh and btw, what do u think about the 1st movie having 3 villains(Ras Al Ghul, Scarecrow, and Victor Zsasz) and 2nd movie(Joker, 2 Face, and Scarecrow again)? It does have a lot of villains, but thats NOT the reason why Spiderman 3 flop
@TheRedemptionRain First of all, Zsasz was in two scenes. Thr third villain of the movie was Carmine Falcone. But falcone, Ra's and Scarecrow were all working together. You're suggesting 4 different villains, with four different motivs. The reason Spidey 3 was bad was because there was too much crap going on (3 villains, HELLO). And why would Hardy replace Murphy? That makes no sense. Hardy hasnt even been confirmed as a villain yet. Wake up kid.
@ShadesAtKnight So it would make sense if the 3 villains work together, Hugo can discover Batman's true identity, Talia can seduce Bruce, and once Black Mask finds out his childhood friend is his mortal enemy, things can heat up, Nolan can give some moral issues too it such ass revenge and what people think is true justice and if you have been looking at the news and articles Hardy is most likely going to play a important role in the movie
@TheRedemptionRain Sure, Hardy is going to play an important role. He might be a villain, he might not. Saying for Scarecrow to be the lead villain, Hardy would have to replace Murphy, is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
You still have too much going on in your story. ALL these villains get together to take down Batman? Why would these random villains come together? Your just trusting Nolan could cypher your logic.
And Scarecrow could still be a major player. Why are you so against that?
@ShadesAtKnight Why am I against Scarecrow to be the lead villain? Number one Nolan said he wanted something new, he also said that he would like to create villains that have not been done in the movies, and since your against my characters, I got some questions for you, what 2 females would u like then? one of them also has to replace Bruce's crush since Rachel died, and how would you think fans would react seeing the same main villain from the 1st movie? How would your plot work out?
@TheRedemptionRain Why must there be two female leads? Why does Bruce even need a love interest? People would react fine to Scarecrow in the movie. If you even listened to my video, you'd know that I also said I'd like to see Black Mask OR Hugo Strange. I'm not against your characters. You just have too many of them, for no reason. And who gives a shit about "my plot". I'm not Christopher Nolan. But as I said in the video, I'd love Arkham Asylum to be a major focus (hense the Scarecrow, genius).
@ShadesAtKnight Think of the chances that Scarecrow is going to be the main villain, because its slim, if your going against my idea at least have a valid points
with all the great villians in the d.c. universe.... ur favorite is scarecrow ? i really think it's a bad idea not to have the riddler in this movie..... especially after having the joker in the last one.... i mean that's like going from a-list celeb to d-list celeb over night !
It's too bad about the Riddler. I always felt Crispin Glover would have made that role something special. Oh well. IMHO, I always felt the most personal character Nolan could bring in for Batman would be Catwoman, Harley Quinn could make a wonderfully dark psychopath, and Thalia really makes sense as she would make a remarkable and unexpected adversary for Bruce. I'd love to see Murphy back as the Scarecrow. However an all female villain lineup would just about blow away all expectations.
I don't see a cheesy character like HUSH being in this movie. Bullock or Black Mask are my guesses. I honestly do believe that Hardy will be Bullock or Black Mask. No Hugo Strange, although that would be fucking badass, his character is tooooo old for Hardy. Someone suggested Robin Williams playing Hugo, I know this WILL NOT happen but that would be awesome in my opinion.
@MrWilliejshow A good suggestion but Anarky is too similar to Ledger's Joker. The final film needs a different type of villain. BB had a martial arts style extremist who wanted to make the world a better place. TDK had psycotic muderer/terrorist who wanted to turn Gotham into a breading ground of maddness and chaos. In my opinion TDKR needs a ruthless crime boss who wants to rule Gotham's underworld with an iron fist. Someone like Black Mask.
You make several good points my friend, though I disagree about Bane. However here's something you didn't consider, Black Mask does'nt have to be burned. When he first appeared in the comics he just wore an ebony skull mask. Maybe Nolan will have him reorganise the mob into the false-face society. Also here's something noones thought of, KGBeast. Anyway you are the first person I've met who knew enough about Bane to fairly say they did'nt like him. I'm glad to see you do your research.
The Riddler would be too much like there trying to compensate for the lack of Joker action and it will seem like a rehash of what we have already seen before. Plus, giving him characteristics of villains like in Se7en and the Saw movies, or him being some sort of private eye/FBI agent (which is way too early for that). Now that's just sad. The Riddler cannot carry a whole movie as a main villain, so he's a 'hell no' for me. But he would make a good minor/sub-villain. Nothing more.
I personally never liked Edward Nigma as a main villain. (Maybe side-villain, DEFINITELY not a main villain). I never really felt that he was ever a true threat to Batman on a big scale. The Riddler's style is just too close to Nolan's Joker to be really inventive and fresh.
Add to the fact that the Riddler, in true heart, is not a killer, not only it would be a rehash of things we have seen before, it would be watered-down rehash. And changing his core personally would be a mistake.
YOU MOTHERFUCKER! HOW DARE YOU SLANDER BANE! Just kidding. Bane or Croc wouldnt fit in with Nolan's Batverse. save them for Guillermo Del Toro's Bat trilogy (wishful thinking).Go with Black Mask and Deadshot.im all for that Hugo Strange rumor also.
I think Riddler would have been a good character... But I want to see Bane... I dont know who would play him but for some reason Im thinking about the guy who played sabertooth in the new wolverine movie being Bane I think that would be pretty cool.
If you don't want to see the same kind of villain in the next batman movie then why do you want Black Mask? The last two movies have been filled with mobsters like Carmine Falcone, Sal Maroni, Gambol, The Chechen, etc. They even had the Triad. And if Black Mask came in he'd be another mobster added to the list. And it would be like Harvey Dent died for nothing, he was all about stopping the crime families and mob bosses. Nolan has a limited selection, so certain similarities can't be avoided.
No one EVER mentions Hush!! He is possibly one of Batman's most challenging enemies.
The next movie should pick-up with Harlequin trying to re-create some of the Jokers crimes. She could have been influenced by the Joker while he's imprisoned. After she is easily defeated, Hush comes in and becomes the main threat for the rest of the movie.
If they did a part 4 both Harlequin and the Joker could be in it together. They could re-cast the Joker and Harlequin's story would already be set up
@dre2you That's because Thomas Elliot knows Bruce since childhood, and wasn't in either Begins or TDK. How is he meant to have this best friend come out of nowhere?
And Nolan has said on multiple occassions that this would be the final film, and that he'd never recast the Joker.
@dre2you dude theres no way harley quinn could be in the movie without the joker being in it also.. and christopher nolan already said no joker.. and i dont like the idea of Hush, I just don't think the story behind the character would work in the realistic universe that christopher nolan has created.. thats like one of the main reason why i think spiderman 3 sucked.. every villain in the movie was just toooo close to peter parker in some way or another
@supermaustify Everyone will have their own opinions. It's not impossible to tweak characters, such as Hush to make them more suitable for a movie. Look at how much they changed The Joker, and he's the most infamous Batman villain there is.
@dre2you well you do have a point there, but if there gonna do that with anyone then it should be black mask. Another reason i dont think Hush in this movie is because he's another marial arts style villain kinda like Ra's Al Guhl and I don't really wanna see that again, and I'm kinda glad they're not gonna have the Riddler too because that would be kind of the same thing that Joker brings to the table. They need a vaillain that'll show us something that we haven't really seen yet in the others
@ShadesAtKnight nahh man, i just got another update too! Crazy Quilt is going to be the other villain. So its gonna be Killer Moth and Crazy Quilt! hmmmm, i wonder which one tom hardy is going to play!.. is Joseph Gordon Levitt still gonna be in this movie?? .. Oh snap! i just got another update while i was writing this! actor Scott mother fuckin Thompson! is going to be in this movie! i thought he was phenominal in Dennis the Menace strikes again...
And I would have loved to see The Riddler as well but as you say, This is Nolan and the man can do no wrong lol, anyway thanks for making the vid, shades, always love watching them :)
In my mind, the trilogy should go like Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Batman. Theres something about it that gives it that final feeling that hes become the batman that we all know, TDK Rises doesnt sound like a final title to me and as you say, is linked too closely with TDK, but it could just be a working title for now lol. I agree with Arkham too, thats always intrigued me so I would love to see more (the spanish arkham film is epic lol)
Titles dumb, movies with 'rise' seem to fail & it just copies the epic title of TDK. Yes she reminds me of Michael Jackson lol. You took the words right outta my mouth with Black Mask's face I actually posted that on Silverlightsabers. Croc doesn't make any sense, I could see Hardy as Bullock but not really sure its his character. Besides Ledger was cast 1st for TDK and casting Hardy 1st seems to indicate a villain role. Black Mask. Nolan i trust
I think Nolan would have easily made a Riddler that all fans would love, just as he did with the Joker, but, as you said, Catwoman does serve a purpose at this point in the story line. As far as the title goes, I'm pretty much indifferent about the title right now. We have very limited details about the plot, so we can't really judge the title yet. Plus, maybe for the casual fans, seeing the words "Dark Knight" in a title again will encourage them to go see it after the success of the first one.
Not keen on the title, "The Gotham Knight Rises" would be better. Also disappointed about no Riddler but I can live with it. Whatever happens it will be good, I trust Nolan and his team.
Killer Croc and Deadshot were in Gotham Knight (The DC Animated Movie apparently set between BB and DK) so I don't know if that might affect them if they appeared (which is unlikely anyway). Not that keen on the title - 'Caped Crusader' or 'Gotham' might have been better choices. Villain wise I'm sad there's no Riddler but Catwoman would definitely be a good choice. Penguin is probably still a viable option. Wouldn't really want Quinn without Mr J. So how about Scarecrow and Catwoman?
@DerektheDalek I think Scarecrow & Catwoman are a pretty good pairing. They aren't the team-up types with regards to each other(they'd more likely be enemies) and that could be an interesting dynamic.
too bad bane's in the movie :)

Mad Hatter or Black Mask.

They've taken enough liberties with characters where Hush could be worked into the story, it's not impossible
dre2you 1 year ago
No one EVER mentions Hush!! He is possibly one of Batman's most challenging enemies.
The next movie should pick-up with Harlequin trying to re-create some of the Jokers crimes. She could have been influenced by the Joker while he's imprisoned. After she is easily defeated, Hush comes in and becomes the main threat for the rest of the movie.
If they did a part 4 both Harlequin and the Joker could be in it together. They could re-cast the Joker and Harlequin's story would already be set up
dre2you 1 year ago
@dre2you That's because Thomas Elliot knows Bruce since childhood, and wasn't in either Begins or TDK. How is he meant to have this best friend come out of nowhere?
And Nolan has said on multiple occassions that this would be the final film, and that he'd never recast the Joker.
ShadesAtKnight 1 year ago 2
@dre2you dude theres no way harley quinn could be in the movie without the joker being in it also.. and christopher nolan already said no joker.. and i dont like the idea of Hush, I just don't think the story behind the character would work in the realistic universe that christopher nolan has created.. thats like one of the main reason why i think spiderman 3 sucked.. every villain in the movie was just toooo close to peter parker in some way or another
supermaustify 1 year ago
@supermaustify Everyone will have their own opinions. It's not impossible to tweak characters, such as Hush to make them more suitable for a movie. Look at how much they changed The Joker, and he's the most infamous Batman villain there is.
dre2you 1 year ago
@dre2you well you do have a point there, but if there gonna do that with anyone then it should be black mask. Another reason i dont think Hush in this movie is because he's another marial arts style villain kinda like Ra's Al Guhl and I don't really wanna see that again, and I'm kinda glad they're not gonna have the Riddler too because that would be kind of the same thing that Joker brings to the table. They need a vaillain that'll show us something that we haven't really seen yet in the others

I wanna see Slade Wilson, Catwoman, or Hush in Batman three

Black Mask and Talia as the main villains...no Catwoman!

@NewSuperAvenger Nolan has said a millions times that Robin won't be in this.

@NewSuperAvenger christain bale said he'd back out if Robin was going to be involved.. so christopher nolan is not going to be having any robin

I think Batman Rises would be a lot better
but Nolan knows it best.

Great, comprehensive video. Jeez you fit a alot of stills in them!
In a few months we'll all get used to the TDKR as a title name.
I wanted Gotham City. (perhaps the next Batman francise has tabs on it!)
I'd be cool with Tom Hardy playing Dr Hugo Strange.
Anyway, excellent presentation, and congrats on leaving school.
I'll look out for you at Kings Comics with the rugby jumper "SHADES 10"!

The best fans speculation Title i heard was simply "Gotham"

I wish the title was The Caped Crusader, that would have worked alot better.

And I would have loved to see The Riddler as well but as you say, This is Nolan and the man can do no wrong lol, anyway thanks for making the vid, shades, always love watching them :)
solyentbrak1 1 year ago
In my mind, the trilogy should go like Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Batman. Theres something about it that gives it that final feeling that hes become the batman that we all know, TDK Rises doesnt sound like a final title to me and as you say, is linked too closely with TDK, but it could just be a working title for now lol. I agree with Arkham too, thats always intrigued me so I would love to see more (the spanish arkham film is epic lol)
solyentbrak1 1 year ago

Jetsyankees1294 1 year ago
I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess Catwoman & Hugo Strange.
SavageVandar 1 year ago
Not keen on the title, "The Gotham Knight Rises" would be better. Also disappointed about no Riddler but I can live with it. Whatever happens it will be good, I trust Nolan and his team.

Hush!
Seriously, am I the only one who's hoping Hush'll be in it!
He's be a totally badass!!
MonkeyThunder5 1 year ago
Killer Croc and Deadshot were in Gotham Knight (The DC Animated Movie apparently set between BB and DK) so I don't know if that might affect them if they appeared (which is unlikely anyway). Not that keen on the title - 'Caped Crusader' or 'Gotham' might have been better choices. Villain wise I'm sad there's no Riddler but Catwoman would definitely be a good choice. Penguin is probably still a viable option. Wouldn't really want Quinn without Mr J. So how about Scarecrow and Catwoman?
DerektheDalek 1 year ago
@DerektheDalek I think Scarecrow & Catwoman are a pretty good pairing. They aren't the team-up types with regards to each other(they'd more likely be enemies) and that could be an interesting dynamic.
