@ac3320ac3320 - hi there. this is probably gonna be a disappointing answer but i honestly have no idea regarding the tech stuff like "series" or "parallel" or what pickups are installed :( all i know is that it has the aggie pre. i didn't have this custom made...i kinda just ordered it from sleekelite when i saw that they had it. sorry for the lack of info friend :(
@pederazyon Oh and the 'series/parallel' stuff I was referring to cause the "mid boost" and "mid scoop" modes you were referring too (respectively). It has to do with the pickup wiring. Also, since they are humbuckers, each pickup can be internally wired series or parallel. (The neck pup is internally wired parallel and the bridge in series for a more Jaco tone...though Sheldon hasn't wired the bridge pickup in this way the whole Super J's life.) Anyways, got any more dingwall videos?
@ibzmav - pare, add mo lang ako sa facebook or sa twitter :) punta ka lang ng gig namin para ma-sign namin lahat yung CD...para maka tambay narin tayo :) salamat sa pagbili pala ng CD namin :)
Couple quick questions for you.... Can you have the pickups set to series or parallel, and then flip a switch to go the other way? I see there is a mid boost mode...is that what you're doing -- switching between series/parallel?
And do you have the FD3 pickups or the mach II's or the super fatty's? lol trying to figure out what the differences are..
Finally, do you have the glock preamp, or the Aggie?
@xPELICANx - thanks so much for the kind words friend :) yeah man, these basses are insanely amazing...KUDOS to the wonderful people at DINGWALL for being super nice and extremely committed to making excellent instruments :) thanks again for the encouragement and have a good one :) - karel H.
This video is perfect. I'm glad you showed more than one style of playing. Most people just play slap. All of the tones from these basses are beautiful. Your playing is amazing, as well. Never stop!
Wow. A thing of beauty, but the fretboard needs a little time to get used to.hehe. Great bass guitar, but it's the guitar player who does wonders, wish I could play bass as wonderful and as artful as you.
in my my most humble opinion, IN TERMS OF JAZZ BASSES, i've decided to keep my dingwall, '72 fender jazz, MM fender jazz and hope to get an Fbass VF4, '69 fender, '63 fender. don't take my word for it though...i probably didn't maximize the capabilities of the other basses i tried out due to time constraints or having a bad ear day hehe. forgive me for being a bit chatty...i havn't slept and my mind was burning the remaining coffee coursing through my veins. hope that all made sense - karel H.
so basically i got the bass primarily for it's function, then it's sound secondarily...i was surprised as hell though the 1st time i plugged in...it sounds GREAT! i honestly don't have alot of experience when it comes to compering this bass to other jazz basses in the market. i tried and owned a few jazz basses (namely fbass, fodera, sadowsky, vintage fender, modulus, mike lull, atelier Z, and others i can't remember clearly) -continued-
the problem with my way of playing is my left shoulder is hyper-extended all the time and i developed this nasty problem on my left wrist due to the odd positions i get myself into (chords with the 9th as the top note or other uncomfortable finger positionings.) the super J fretboard may seem weird at 1st but it is definitely effective in assessing those problems i've been encountering. the neck is great too...really thin yet sturdy resembling 60's jazz bass. -continued-
@ike1500 - hi there. i guess i did miss out a few details hehe. on the specifics, the body is alder, morado fingerboard, aguilar OBP1 preamp and the weight is ridiculusly light...too light infact...but it's great for people with back issues. the reason why i got the bass in the first place is due to it's ergonomic fingerboard. i have fairly short fingers and i usually play with the bass centered on my body as to having it slightly off-centered leaning a bit more to my plucking hand. -continued-
hi, i really would like to know more about this bass, maybe you can show all the features aside from the sound and how it looks overall. I know ur busy since u have a busy schedule, hopefully you have the time to expalin it, your the first one in the phillipines to have it so wish you could share more about it, since it's called a super j from dingwall, can it be compared to other jazz bass like fclef bass, tino tedesco bass, sadowky nyc bass, really i would like to know more.
Wow, you got a killer groove man! and the bass sound great too! Very unfortunate they are so expensive here in europe. =(
