  • Ryan - just go check out that website and educate yourself.

  • The devil doesn't exist, that is why unbelievers can be everybit as beautifully creative in all areas of life as Christians, sometimes more so due to being less inhibited by overly strict morality [ especially the sort of nonsense morality of ancient superstition rather than health & safety assessment ] . Bible scholars Robert M Price, John W. Loftus, Valerie Tarico, Dan Barker, Ken Humphreys, Keith Parsons, Richard Carrier, Bart Ehrman point to a more moral & honest interpretation

  • @zytigon I'm not even sure if you're claiming to be a believer or not. But the devil is real, but so is God, and God is so much more powerful.

  • @TheRyannosaurus I have faith in the Golden Rule & I can see worth in the riddles of 'love your neighbour & enemies' if it means act with due care & attention & try to see the good points in others & what they say & do but be on guard against harmful ideas. In assessing human behaviours there is a whole debate pro & con about each one. It is possible to prioritise different aspects. There is the role of social pressure, conditioning of children by parents. The bible gives only part of argument

  • @TheRyannosaurus I recomment the excellent book, ' The reason driven life' by top author Robert Price. It gives a witty, good humoured look at the meaning of life.Price notices that each of the Bible authors has a different opinion about things. He traces the evolution of the Satan figure in relation to the date of bible story & also at how the ideas about Satan were borrowed from religions like Zoroastrianism. See Acts 23v8 Sadducees say there are neither angels nor spirits & no resurrection.

  • @zytigon I hate to tell you, but the devil is real, angels are real, and the resurrection is real. I quote Paul from his letter to the Philippians when I say that if Christ did not resurrect, I (a believer) have wasted my entire life. I don't think 1 man can try and claim that these things didn't happen by twisting a verse. And the Sadducees were hardly the most knowledgeable on the spiritual, they completely missed the messiah and ended up murdering him.

  • Many people in The USA think there christians purely because their white. Going into Mac Donalds doesnt make you a hamburger. If youre a true born again christian you will not have this fucking stupid gun mentality as you yanks do. Its moronic

  • Thank you Larry! Rest In Peace father of Christian Rock! GOD BLESS!

  • Love this song, could play it again again and again, yes he is rockin ih heaven!!!!!!!

  • Jesus must not have been listening to nature if he had long hair...

  • he got poisioned by the kgb for smuggeling bibles......

  • 1 Corinthians 11:14 - - "Does not nature itself tell you that long hair is shameful on men?" LOLOLOL

  • @179rich That was a cultural issue in the time of Paul in Corinth. It's to do with the way people looked at it then in Corinth and is not saying that men should not have long hair. Understand scripture before you try to patronize people with it.

  • @TheRyannosaurus - none of this, including what ZMAN44708 wrote, changes the fact that the Bible, which many consider to be the unerring word of "God" claimed that long hair is obviously shameful on men, thus insulting Larry Norman and the Bible's own god. Jesus is usually depicted as having long hair. If "God" truly existed and truly inspired the words of the Bible, I think he could do a better job than insulting the popular image of his own son! LOL

  • @179rich God did divinely inspire the Bible, however in some epistles Paul has to deal with certain things specific to churches, that may not be affecting other churches. Paul wrote specifically to that church, that in Corinthian culture it was shameful for a grown man to have long hair, he also speaks a little earlier about women covering their heads in church. If you think you can try and disprove and disrepect God, you've got another thing coming. We all are held accountable for our actions.

  • @TheRyannosaurus - I could spend all day pointing out all the contradictions, shortcomings, absurdities and evils contained in the Bible, let alone the history of Christianity, all of which would lead any knowledgeable person capable of studying the material objectively to conclude that the Bible is little more than a pile of lies. If you want to learn more, a really easy way to get started is to check out skepticsannotatedbibledotcom

  • @179rich The bible has very minor contradictions, mostly surrounding the number of people in a place, but none of these contradictions change anything about the overlieing message of the Bible. The history of Christianity has nothing to do with the holiness of the Bible, people sin/make mistakes but God never does. I'm going to conclude that you're an Atheist who is just angry at the God he claims not to believe in, who thinks if God existed that he was shortchanged somewhere along his life.

  • I Corinthians 11:14 - "Does not nature itself tell you that long hair is shameful on men?" LOL

  • @179rich So you dont wair a hat and women can never cut there hair? Please read all of 1 Corinthian 11,1-16

    1 Corinthian 1-16

But if any man seem to be contentions,we have no such custom, neither the churches of God

  • To willietango, If humans come from fish and have no purpose; then why do you care if they're dying?

  • UOU! GREAT! GREAT!

  • Jesus is a myth-- after life a wish,--humans are descended from a walking fish. Faith is just a scam-- profit is the plan-- buy a lot hooey but no promise land. Rockin Robin tweet tweet tweet....

End the fantasy, people are DYING over here.. cuz of what you BELIEVE!

    HA Ha. !!

  • i mean rock/metal white metal band

  • amazing artist !! God bless him.

  • i love how he plays the air sax

  • Strange ... this is the music I enjoyed just before I became a muslim in the early seventies !

  • his music will be around for a hundred years from now. no doubt in my mind. (this song isn't my fav..lol..but it's got a point)

  • so you know larry do ya??? l ol fax..just the fax

  • Well, everyone makes mistakes. I wasn't perfect before I was saved, and I'm not perfect now. I'll only be perfect in heaven with my Jesus. The same was true with Larry Norman: he made some decisions he shouldn't have, but that doesn't detract from the fact that he was a pioneer of Christian rock and influenced many, many people in a thoroughly positive way. He loved and served God as best he could given his imperfect self and his mistakes, and that's all we can hope to do, as well.

  • a true trailblazer, he brought a Christian message to non christians or people led astray. A true pioneer in music. he is saying you can have upbeat, r&b based music, that can be Christian.

  • Hallelujah, Larry brought God and HIs Love to a lot of people who may not have known God otherwise...For that, I believe Jesus was with Larry!!! Larry had his other moments, proving he was human. Cast stones elsewhere, where they may roll downward forever.....

  • Yeah, why should the devil have all the good music :-D

  • As good or better than the rolling stones... yet no one knew him... I suppose he could have sold out. I'm glad he didn't.

  • Larry Norman já está com Jesus!!!

    Amem

  • você uma pessoa muito abençoada.

creio que já está com o Pai, cantando e glorificando!!

    vlw!

  • You have to see the context when this song was written. Some conservative Christians in 60s and 70s saw Rock music as a detriment and that it had no place in church. He's not saying that Satan has good music. He is saying that he enjoys Rock music, many of his Christian brethren despise it as sinful, and he wants to worship in the manner in which he he worship with everything he has.You say that he is saying that the bible is not good because it is music. He doesn't have a problem with the words

  • Comment removed

  • Once again you are only superficially looking at what he is saying. Many churches that I have been too, and this is sometimes due to a lack of musical talent sometimes to preference, sing hymns at egregiously slow tempos. You do realize that there are lots of different versions, music wise, of many hymns. Saying it's a funeral march doesn't degrade the words, which are usually Scripture, but degrades the how they are played and the musical style in which they are composed. Listen closer.

  • Man, some of you all are missing the point of the song and Larry Norman's relationship with The Lord Jesus. He is not knocking SOME of the hymns, he is just not ready for ONE of them funeral marches, he ain't dead yet. That means when he is dead (he is dead now) he may be ready for one, however I doubt it.

  • Psalm 150: 3 Praise him with the SOUND OF THE TRUMPET: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

5 Praise him upon the LOUD CYMBALS: praise him upon the HIGH SOUNDING CYMBALS. 6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

FOr that day and time, using what was available, Rock and Roll musician would use those instruments. Trumpet with cymbals would be loud and not "unplugged."

  • Are you saying there is False Christian Music? I thought all Christian music is true. Christianity is true, therefore music about Christianity is true. Of course you could mean one other thing. You know what Christian Music is and we don't.

  • I did ask myself. I still do not know what you mean by TRUE Christian music. Are you speaking of the great hymns of the church? Are you talking anout Gospel music like The Gaithers? Are you speaking about any kind of Christ centered music that is not rock and roll?

Sir, could you list some types of music and some artists that personify the True Christian Music that you speak of?

    Thank you.

  • Praise Him with stringed instruments and loud cymbals maybe?

  • In a sense that is true since rock n roll did not exist until the 20th Century. However, Psalm 150 does say Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. That means anything that is capable of being used for God's glory should be honoring to Him, and playing rock or metal music should not be excluded just because it wasn't mentioned in the Word of God.

  • Wow, you're really stretching it are you. Did you forget that all music was inspired by God before the devil perverted it? So what if rock n roll began in the secular industry, that does not mean it should not be turned around and used for the glory of God. You sound to me like a Southern Baptist because the church I used to attend did not condemn Christian rock or metal.

  • Furthermore, who are you to judge and say that a Christian band is not of God if you can't understand the lyrics clearly? God wants us to make a joyful noise unto Him, He didn't say it had to be pleasing to the world to be acceptable.

  • Based on your logic, NONE of the hymns we sing in church are Christian songs based most of their melodies were part of bar room songs back in the 19th century. In that aspect, you don't know what real Christian music is from what you've been telling me.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't how much research you did, but I can guarantee you that hymns were not always Christian music. They began as songs written in honour of the gods, leading figures, and heroes. So as you can see, hymns did not begin as Christian music like you claim.

  • Comment removed

  • Just as much as I can say I'm sure you didn't do your research like you claimed huh? It goes two ways. You didn't say where you got your info in claiming that hymns have always been Christian songs, so what makes you think I need to site a specific source for my information?

  • You got a real problem with this song, don't you? You have marked the exact time on the video that he said something but you left out a few words that he sang. Most importantly, at least to me, you don't agree that Christians should have some good music. God made rhythm, you know.

  • Comment removed

  • Dude, you are taking the lyrics way to literally. The point he was making in the song is that everyone has their own style of music; no style of music is bad, it is the song itself that is either good or bad.

If you are going to say that the genre Rock and Roll is evil and owned by Satan, you would also have to say that about the genre of many famous hymns. Many hymns were made with the tune of many songs sung in bars because at that time, that was the style people liked!

  • Derek, I believe you have duct taped your eyes and ears shut. If I may say, I believe you have missed the point of the song. Psalm 150 gives a lineup of a full rock and roll band, as was available without electricity, in David's time.

  • You know hes a christian, right?

  • Brother, you misunderstand the song completely. "The Good Music" is not referring to the words of the songs/hymns(ie. what you find in the bible - psalms, etc.) the "music" Larry is refering to is the instrumental, the ryhthm, the beat, the tempo. How the church ever got the idea that Satan "owned" everything upbeat and uptempo is beyond me.

  • I got to see him sing this at C-stone!

  • LOL... I don't think so
