A security guard does have arrest powers, the same as a citizen (felonies), and if you work security for a retailer, you have full arrest powers in cases of retail fraud. If you are a guard operating under PA 330 then you have full police powers on duty. This is Michigan law.

Frankly, the guard showed great restraint in illegally being filmed by these losers. Most people would not think twice about spiking that camera off the ground like a football and ramming the remains down the cameramans throat.
It is bullshit to because we security do a lot of the jobs police do not want to do. We get put onto sites all by ourselves with no protection and the police might show up a half hour latter. At the hospital I deal with alcoholics, drug addicts, mentally ill and violent people.also we deal with people that are HIV and HEP C positive. All for $13 an hour. I really feel sorry for those that only get $8.50 an hour. We risk our lives just as much as the police do.
