Only in the sense that its main focus of the animation and is placed at the very centre of the screen, then everything rotates around . It'll also still move up and down with the character in accordence to its movement. =p
I admire your work and im a big fan ^^ I would be happy if i could someday animate like you ^^ Im from estonia so there arent any schools to study making animations :P Mabey Finland or latvia have those schools , when i get to the point where im going to an university then we'll see...anyway , i wanted to ask you for a favour ^^ (only if you have time for it) Could you check out some of my animation vids and comment on what you think :) You can say whats wrong and etc.
Heh, I'm not sure if any schools do animation at all, but if you plan to do it for university, it's a good idea to start researching as early as possible. Find out what universityies you can try for, find out what A-levels you'll need and get those grades! =p
Err... I already graduated from university, its now become my profession, what more can i do eh?
I'm quite hapy doing short films though, i dont know if a series would hold my interest long enough for me to finish it. But i do have an idea for one, maybe sometime in the future eh.
I tend to work on body and footwork first before I do head movement, when I did my animations using this method it worked out so much better! Thank you for the explanation, seriously, my animations have never been this clean cut and smooth before! Thank you DarkMane :D
The math is confusing me.... but the key frames thing makes a lot of sense. I was hoping to do some run cycles with changing camera angles in my anime (once I get a lot better at animation). I'm trying to learn as much as I can from you - you're amazing!
Heh, i thought the key frames explination was a bit crap and confusing. If the maths is confusing, i'll try to add more to make it less so eh. Dont worry about it too much though, its just if you want the entire thing to loop, you want a high total number of frames to divide into the number of cycles you want in it and 4. Multiplying the frames in my run by 5 gave me 60, 60 divides into 4 too and i end up with 15 which will be the number of frames it take for every quarter movement.
I'm sure you get this a lot, but you are absolutely amazing. I can't do animation nearly that smoothly, or that well. How long have you been doing this?
Also, I just noticed the music from Braid. Nice :D
Heh, well actually, it was 4 years of study at university which consisted of 2 years on the Video games course doing 3D stuff first before i transferred to 2d animation, starting in the second year. So, 2 years in 3D animation and 2 years in 2D =p
@DarkmaneTheWerewolf Is it better to start with 3D animation before going to 2D? It seems counter-intuitive, but when I think about it, yeah, that might work. Not that I know much about it anyway... I wish we had animation classes...
Very helpful stuff! Thanks!
