po i know am not at bmq yet even thou i was thinking of joining the forces but what is with the card thing anyways am just asking this is only for the po's
I just noticed that when they are in weapon training, must the gun be held on the right side? I was wondering because the military is so tough, will one be able to hold it on the left?
@beaverrig5 there is a pay phone on each floor of your barracks. I suggest a calling card or prepaid phone card. You will not have access to cellular phones or other electronic devices for at least the first 5 weeks.
Im actually surprised with the number of people wearing glasses, i want to join but always wonder if my glasses would make a difference with what my goals are.
makes basic look easy, then your warrior platoon and pat platoon are going to be over populated, cause anyone will think they can complete basic training.
@Freepepsi42 Colt Canada (the current manufacturer of the Canadian Military's C7s and C8s) has an optional ambidextrous selector switch and magazine release. I'm not sure, but it would only make sense that the military would buy WITH the ambidextrous features (call your recruiting office to make sure though).
lol my friend has the greatest stories from BMQ. Showed her this and all she could do was laugh at how watered down they make it before it airs to the public.
@Masonc898 probably so they do not get accused of sexism plus she is a novelty out of the five they were following there was one girl...they are catering to the public, females want to know what it would be like for them not just for the men
for protection mostly. sure they could have done it without the gloves, but a soldier with raw hands is no good for combat. Hence why soldiers deployed in Afghanistan wear gloves (really sick ones too) lol
Im 14 years old and i cant wait to join. My dad used to be part of the P.P.C.L.I until he said he got to old. Now hes a TDO (Training Development Officer) making a a lot of money.
no. tac vest + gas mask/carrier + helmet + c7 and 4 empty mags , 30 pounds max. Canadian combats are very light. and chances are they're wearing gps which are pretty light as well.
Actually being on basic is what got me started on smoking. Only time you could get outside the shacks was for smoke breaks so the guys and I would buy cigars and pass em around while polishing boots. I quit a few years later (smoking that is) still wouldn't give up the time I spent there for anything in the world. Just don't be an idiot like me =P
havent these guys played in the jungle gym as a kid? why are they so slow?

The question about the berets - They WILL have a beret to fit you, and if not in the QM they will GET you one that will fit.
The question about the "mitts" You will rarely find a member of the CF during any physical combat without gloves. By physical I don't mean fitness.

@sabresfootball91 for grip on the monkey bars and so they don't get rope burn or slivers in their hands from the walls

@sabresfootball91 i think it's harder to hold a weapon when you are wearing mitts.

is the C7 supposed to work better in colder conditions than the M16?
hollyy
littledrugaddict 2 years ago
yes, the c7 has a removable trigger guard so that mitt's can be used in the arctic.

Is the tactical vest more comfortable then the webbing during the marching and obstacle course?

whats the twist rate on the c7
yaknowurright 2 years ago
ok whats the difference between the M16 and the C7? is the barrel longer? different grip?
HairyTrigger 2 years ago
stronger bolt on the c7, m16 has a maximum of 3 round bursts i believe where the c7 has both semi and fully automatic capabilities.
BRADM69 2 years ago
@HairyTrigger pretty much the same

Do they still use the webbing during BMQ at St Jean? I thought that wasn't in the system anymore. During my BMQ (res) we got Tac Vests.
