Arabs messed up Afghanistan by releasing criminals from over crowded prisons across the Arab world and sent them to fight the Soviet army. Pakistan and the U.S. armed, funded and trained many of them. After the Soviet withdrawal the so called Mujahideen with no enemy to bring them together became warlords and started the Afghan civil war for control. The Taliban with reinforcements from Madrasah in Pakistan defeated the warlords but did not return the power into the hands of the people.
