It must have required much work to make this tube. Well done !
I see the 'Elf and safety squad are trying to spoil it all. You will get no appreciable Xrays at voltages below about 20Kv.I've spent nearly 50 years working with C.R.T.s, both in and out of housings, and still no cancers etc. EHT rectifier valves give more Xrays, and people dont seem to realise this. Their radiation is wider spread too.

No X-rays till you hit 16 kilo-volts onto a dense (nickle alloy) target. He's running 1/4 of that according to the video. Absolutely safe... well, radiation wise.
@zaphodb777 Why? you do get x-rays if you shoot 4keV-"fast" electrons at metal:. The frequency of the Bremsstrahlung would be up to about 10^18 Hz according to my calc. Bad news - thats definitely x-ray-rad
@drMerkwuerdigliebe You're right, my bad. But knowing glass blocks UV and other semi-hard photons (up to a certain point), would sub 16 keV photons be able to escape?
Perchance he used leaded glass too, as in commercial CRTs? My monitor is currently running at 32KV (1600X1200), I have seen some other CRTs running at up to 50KV (projection). High voltages in some hi res CRTs is needed to maintain beam focus at high sweep rates. Of course, there's an inch of heavily leaded glass in my monitor.
@zaphodb777 what concerns me most is that selfmade electron gun. A x-ray-tube is a tube where the anode is a peace of dence metal that "catches" all the elecrons producing heat and well: x-rays.
a ideal electron gun is one where the elecrons go through the elecrical field and accelerate but miss the anode and are emitted. The ideal process cant be made but: Now: if I understand this construction here right: this is something in between. The anode is a copper-plate with a hole in it???
....(2) so if Im right here: pretty many of those accelerated electrons hit the metal. Are slown down - emitt rays which have the photon-energy of about the kinetic energy they had: 4keV - are therefore up to 10^18Mhz in frequency: x-rays - and this radiation is nowhere blocked by metal upward and downward!?
Maybe Im wrong but that is my concern. And therefore Im not so sure about this experiment here to be healthy.
@drMerkwuerdigliebe why not build this and use a geiger counter? i HIGHLY doubt it will detect anything at 6kV. and the glass is too thick for them to make it outside
@drMerkwuerdigliebe btw, this guy (XtrBass) is doing PROPER x-ray experiments. I doubt he cares about this tiny thing generating a TINY amount of x-rays lol
@hardstyle905 I didnt say that he is as good as dead already. But I dont think this kind of experimentation is recommended for anybody. I dont know the power ie. Nor the transmission coeficient of this type of glas at the frequ. Nor the width of the glass.
Is there x-ray rad at only a several keV: yes. Does it kill you instantly: no. Is it healthy use it all the time for something and put it on your desk: I dont know. Thats all.
Ich möchte kein Spielverderber sein, aber stark beschleunigte und dann plötzlich abgebremste Elektronen erzeugen in jedem Fall Röntgenstrahlen - nicht nur aus einer Metallannode.

"crt tube" is redundant because the "T" in crt stands for tube. That's like saying "ATM machine"

@SilvianoJ people say ATM machine all the time.
