Diamond Radeon HD 2900 XT Video Card

so how for example is a GTX 260 or even a Radeon HD 4890 better than this card?? i mean the GTX 260 memory bandwidth is at 111GB/s and an HD 4890 is 124 GB/s. The 2900XT has an insane 512 bit bus and is at 126 GB/s. So how are they better?

@FalloutProductions1 bandwith are nice but gpu's just like cpu's isnt just about the numbers mate... as they evolve the cores allow faster and better decoding .. so even tho the bandwith is high the core in this 2900 XT isnt as good as the other cores 3870 / 4870 / etc

Hey man- Dont diss this card! It was nasty when it first came out! Its 512bit ring bus interface was a pure masterpiece and way ahead of its time which was the reason for its speed and memory through put. I wanted this card sooo badly when it first came out, now I own a GTX 275 OC which is faster than 3 of these in Crossfire X lolol!

I have this card. Removed the leaf blower heatsink and put an arctic pro aftermarket cooler and overclocked it all the way to the max which is 858mhz core clock and 1152mhz memory clock (2.3ghz effective) Idles at 35-40c with low ventilation and dust and maxes out at 50-53c. Yeah, it can still play current games mostly maxed.

The 1GB version only beforms 7-10% faster at certain applications and higher resolutions doesn't work much better. And that's known fact higher resolutions doesn't consume that much V-ram today as in the past, that's all up to the bandwith. As a silly example: HD2900XT 512MB outperforms the 8800GTS 640MB at 2560x16xx by about 25-30% in most applications.

of gaming. i own the 8800 ultra and my cousin

has a 2900 XT and we have practically the same systems and my 8800 gets 10-20 fps more on games than the 2900. but it depends on the games. 8800 performs better on some whilst the 2900 performs better on other games.

LukeXgamer sucks: 9-series based on the G90 chipset will launch February 2008 and will only perform slightly better than the 8800GTS 65nm but will support DX10.1 which ATi brought forward along with Tessalation. AMD has a good future, as soon as they got the C8 driver and fixed Phenom you'll see new world records, by far, with the AMD Spider platform. R700 will also be better than G90 anyways. Four 55nm chips against one/two G90 65nm.

not true... the 2900 is a lot faster in half life... and since the new drivers came out it is only about 5-10 fps behind the ultra in bioshock... Ultra wins in ID games.

two of the 2900 cards really can easily outrun the ultra on just about anything.. I had one ultra and now two 2900 cards on the P35 from Asus... my games play faster with two... and with one 2900 Half Life is much faster and Bioshock is like 5 fps slower... after another set of drivers comes out I bet the 2900 will be even faster.

it does make some noise... I had the 8800 ultra installed and I didn't notice the noise on the 2900 until someone mentioned it... so it's not that bad. in windows it's low as expected and I was playing stalker last night and I didn't notice it at all unless I thought about it.
