  • This commercial used to scare the HELL outta me when I was 10 (summer of '78).

  • What a shame we don't have stuff like this anymore. We live in such an awful time where everyone is living in their cellphone world, unaware of anyone or anything around them.

  • was at great adventure that day of fire went to see golden earing concert cancelled concert but gave out free passes to come back

  • i went there , it was fun.Thank you for posting this clip.

  • I was there in 1979 and it was so scary I walked out. Now I wish I had stayed on for the rest of the tour, Now I'll never know what the rest of it was like?

  • hahaha, one of them looked like frank zappa

  • This is from the 80's, not 70's.

  • I remember going thought it with my friend .And i pitched a girl who was one of the acters and she thought my best friend did it !! Boy she chassed him all over the house LOL !! And him not knowing why LOL !!!

  • Cont. I dont know if they did this all the time, and I lived in Long Branch from 3rd grade to 6th grade. But the first and 'LAST' time I went into the H.M. at the exit there was a long haired nut!! with a hiperdermic needle coming at you and boyyyy !!! freak that!!! You run the hell outta there. it was much more peacefull at chelsea pool, Eating funnelcakes, italian sausage subs with the fried peppers and onions. I could tell you boy, nostalgia, those were the days. I remember everything there.

  • I used to live right down the street,57 south broadway right next to Saby's grocery store.Haunted mansion was wild, ahead of it's time actually.I remember a white devil in a throne, you'd walk around it.Something like rosemary's baby in another part.A cementary with a werewolf,I'll never forget that one.He would jump over this high barred fence, scare the living crap(literally) out of anyone. There were these rubber prison bars towards the end with crazy strobe lights.alot of darkness inside-Cont

  • That is some serious craziness. I would love to visit that place.

  • COOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it!!!!!!

  • Oh....this haunted mansion!!! I WENT ON THE WEBSITE!!!! They have coloring pages. I printed out the "Sisters Shouldn't Fight" one. It was of a girl holding her sister's head with a bloody axe!! :D Now who does that sound like? Hmmmmm.......LIZZIE BORDEN!!!

  • wow...i never heard of the haunted mansion..lol

  • hey mansion manager...i was one of the kids scared shitless around that time...

i remember hearing the evil music as you would walk u the clifs towards the pier...

  • I saw these ads on TV after school for years and always wanted to visit, but could never coax my parents to make the trip. Too bad it's gone. I've enjoyed some of the seasonal haunted houses I've visited around Halloween. They had quite a good one at the Queen Mary in California I once went to.

  • I was at the Long Branch Haunted Mansion as manager 1978 and until August 1979. Looking to connect with former cast members from that timeframe. Thinking about a reunion party.

Please email me if you're out there!

  • Hi, I was one of the actors from the Haunted Mansion and played many different roles however I did Norman Bates more then most. I totally enjoyed having the opportunity of having a professional paid actors job. I enjoyed my exhibit and would keep totally still. customers would come by in packs saying "aww he ain't real" He is a wax figure. And just when they all breathed a sigh of relied I would scare the shit out of them all. lmao..Those were the days man!

  • I used to work there the 2nd season it was open. they worked us from 10 in the morning, we had to get there 2 hours early for make up and you we not paid for those 2 hours. then 12 noon to 1 or 2 aM.

often you'd get attacked by some cretain. I was the Were Wolf and had a place to retreat into ( my graveyard). Dracula got kicked in the testicals bad.

  • Wish they would bring back a good haunted house.

  • Are you serious!!! You scared the shit out of me!!!!!

  • I lived in long branch before and I went to the real haunted house next to pier village with my friends and if you want to know what happened before send me a comment and i'll tell you.

  • I am a haunt owner in NJ. Let me know what happened! Always like a scary tale!

  • what happened

  • ...

not as scary as japan's haunted houses.

    believe me, I almost DIED!

  • I remember the Haunted Mansion music wafing into my open windows at night during the summer months on Ocean Ave in LBNJ. Wish I could go back and do it all over again!

  • Incredible to see this after so many years! Its simply amazing.

  • this was one of the first haunts where they could actually touch you, or brush up against you. many a dracula or ghoul reenactor got socked for that. we went often, but eventually things got really bad there. but it does bring back great summertime memories....

  • Great Adventure had the Haunted Castle which burned May 11, 1984. It was a one story attraction with trailers but quite large. That incident is what caused many dark rides to close including Brigantine Castle. However, the Haunted Mansion operated through 1986 and the Castle Dracula at Nickels Midway Pier, Wildwood through 2001. They both burned, in June 1987, and Jan 2002.

  • Hmmm...I wonder why these awesome attractions burned to the ground? Brigantine Castle was awesome. But today, all we have in our areas are Haunted castle attractions that are open during the Halloween season only such as Eastern State Penitentiary. They should bring Brigantine castle, The Haunted Mansion in Long Branch, and the rest that we loved years ago WITH FIRE EXITS AND EXTINGUISHERS...what a shame!

  • @mrmoore1970 i was on my way in to the great adventure house when we saw the flames if i was ten mins sooner i dont think id be here now

  • @mrmoore1970 most likely " Insurance Jobs" due to failing business..seems like there is always a FIRE that wrecks a number of boardwalk places in NJ every year..usually in September or October when business is off and nobody is around

  • @rwk360 I remember this attraction when I was a kid! I also remember Great Adventures' Haunted Castle burning in the 80s myself. Ironically I was there approximately two years before the incident.

  • Bring back these attractions.

  • Wow. I totally forgot about this. I always wanted to go, but if the family was going to take a trip to NJ from Long Island when I was a kid, it would be to Great Adventure instead (which was fine by me). My parents are not haunted mansion types. :-)

  • LOL! My cousins and younger sisters were wimps, so few of my family members who had some backbone went to the Haunted Mansion and Brigantine Castle (near Atlantic City, NJ). They should bring back tourists attraction like this, and not just for Halloween!

  • I agree. I'm in my early forties and I still love all of that stuff.
