  • A SODOMITE!! What next, a martian?

  • this is so watered down, i dont even know who he is praying to. o god of our many understandings? if he was trying to pray to the Christian God, he truly did offend his own maker so that people would accept him. what kind of coward is he. does he serve God or man? for you can only have one master.

  • This video needs to be preserved in all of our computers to remind us of Obama's first half-kept promise to Gays and Lesbians.

We need to watch this man that we elected more closely than the Republicans he already might be cowering to.

  • Thank God for Gene Robinson

  • I didn't understand how/why they had 2 prayers at this today and yet we are not allowed to say "one nation under god" for the Pledge of Allegiance in schools and the 10 commandments were removed from court buildings. How is this separation of church and state? It was nice to see it , but i'm confused about that part.

  • blessed are we

  • What a lost man! One who sees no sin and one who will burn in hell.

  • There is only one name in which to pray is Jesus Christ. I am soooooo happy this prayer was not televised and Rick Warren's was.

Obama made the right decision to use Rick Warren's prayer to be broadcast all over the world and not this. This was no mishap even if they try to say it was. They are too sharp to have a mishap like that.

  • 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 - Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

  • THERE IS NO GOD, THE BIBLE, IT ARE LIES.

  • The presidential inauguration committee purposely excluded this prayer from the HBO telecast. Let this prayer be a curse onto you Barack Obama.

  • someday Gene will kneel before his "god of our many understandings" and see how misunderstood he was and how he misguided so many people.... way to go Gene!

  • ha glad HBO Blacked out Gene Robinson praise God!.. Ohh God of our understanding?? scared to invoke the name of Jesus sounds like rejection of Christ to me! I am glad that Rick Warren is the man that Obama chose to do his for real invocation in front of millions! it goes to show he made a good and wise choice! And I know Rick Warren is closer to Obama as a spirtual mentor as I prayed once he was elected for God to bring his children across Obamas path to keep him centered on God!

  • Faith is not something to argue about. It is the ability to be a believer or not that represents freedom. God has given us a free will. I love the Lord, but it is a personal choice. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. But, for those who are non-believers, that is your right. People of all faiths or lack of faith can live together in peace if we would understand this. It was a great day. Let's celebrate our common humanity and love for America instead of focuses on where we differ.

  • To MichaelMM-This was a prayer, not a speech. He was talking to God, not trying to entertain him. Also,if you do not feel that Obama stands to be the most LGBT inclusive President in history, then you haven't been paying attention. He is supportive of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act,the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act, & civil unions (granted as a gay person I prefer marriage). He plans to replace "Don't Ask,Don't Tell" with a gay-friendly policy, and ending DOMA(the Defense of Marriage Act).

  • Rick Warren did way better

  • All I have to say is,"KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN THE END IS NEAR."

  • The last thing this country needs is more Christianity in government.

  • Thank you for this speech

  • I know it seems heaven sent, but americas ready to have a black president.

  • Oh god who below, cause this is the only place it is going to go!! Too bad the USA started this administration in this way, with this attitude. May God Who is above forgive this oversight.

  • Prayer should begin with:

O God of our gaps of understanding

  • I think I adore this man now... what a powerful prayer. As a human rights activist, I am often surprised and angered by the way my fellow Christians can sometimes act without love in their hearts, destroying the lives and happiness of their fellow countrymen. This man has shown that he has God's love in him, and he has embraced all of us in his prayer for Obama's future term.

  • What a flake. He should have said God of the holy bible. Thats the only true God. The bible says that the cowardly wont inherent the kingdom of heaven. He was to scared to acknowledge the only true God. All others are false. Christ is the only way. Amen.

  • there is no god.

  • Bizarre...

  • I understand your frustration, but I do notice in most of his (Obama's) major speeches he mentions "gays" in those he includes. (Unlike any other past presidents, even Clinton).

Time will tell whether he indeed will turn around "Don't ask, Don't tell" and support other anti-discrimination efforts.

    I say let's give him a chance.

  • Lots of people have prayed for amputees for thousands of years....god never answered their prayers for new limbs. You think he'd at least help a few of them out, especially if they were kids. Wonder why that is? yeah yeah, I know...god works in mysterious ways.....sigh.

  • wow

  • I'm sad it wasn't broadcasted on tv but I'm glad i got to finally hear it.

  • Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

  • Im pretty sure there isnt a "Gay" gene. You are gay by choice, which is sad

  • This is a blasphemy and an abomination! Yahuwah did not put a homosexual in charge of his church no more than he puts a thief or liar in charge of his people. The scriptures clearly speak out against any lifestyle of sin and this is one of those abominations.

  • This was a very gracious speech to ALL PEOPLE.

This is a special and Beautiful New Beginning for not only The United States but The World as well. We should run with the clear message of President Obama and work Together for a better Country and World towards Peace and not war within ourselves.

I am glad that not making it into the original broadcast was just a mistake and it will now be included in future re-broadcasts by HBO.

  • I thought his prayer was pathetic was so sad that he prayed for anger. It sounded like he doesn't even know who his god is? Can't he see that he was only choosen to subdue the angry liberal groups because of Pastor Warren's selection?

  • This whole Obama thing is getting pretty creepy.

  • Our GOD is a great GOD, and his Son Jesus, is King of kings, and Lord of lords.

I don't agree with Robinson. I think he is a tare among the wheat. But, I can't see a man's heart like Jesus can. So I will only pray that GOD will lead this "antichrist spirit" filled man Gene Robinson, out of his pernicious life style, and lead him to a true repentance from the evil which corrupts him.

Hopefully he can be stopped before he leads any more people to walk on the wide path to destruction! Amen.

  • All this Obama propaganda is getting really creepy in an Orwellian " Dear Leader " kind of way.

  • What is this prayer nonsense?! I found this bit to be very embarrassing.

  • Comment removed

  • If it were a gene they should have died out a long time ago, don'tcha think?

  • thank you for this moving prayer. wish you had been able to give the invocation for the inauguration today instead of rick warren...

and right on to the closing prayer today! to a new era in America and the world, blessed be,

  • w00t Episcopalians!

  • Thank you for being there.

  • I'm also glad he said "O God of our many understandings", because as a pagan woman, I finally feel included. I am American and my gods are Norse. I resent people praying things about me that I don't want to gods I don't revere. I can respect a prayer that acknowledges that I am American and not a christian, one that includes me AND respects me.

  • Obama's first speech was boring and uninspiring - was not impressed

  • Because Obama has gotten over 95 % of the people fooled. He has lied on many occasions but you never heard of any of these lies. Because the cover it up.

  • You show reverence to a goddess of adultry and forbidden love and YOU are offended? You're an idiot.

  • honestly i don't know who he was praying to, it sounded more like a lecture to me. he wasn't praying to anyone. it was quite blasphomous.

if he was praying to God (which is assumed) he offended him greatly to serve man (you) rather then God.

  • Well I'm glad the Americans prayed for the world's problems to be resolved, seeing as that worked out so well for Bush and everything.

Thank you America, you've clearly done your part for humanity.

  • Its the american way. To make it look like you are doing something but really you're doing nothing at all.

  • Brainwashed americans... GOD DOSENT EXIST. You dont need a "god"..

  • hahahaha your a total idiot. i know GOD exists because I have talked with him before.

  • amen

  • Here Here!!!

  • if were right about god, then you go to hell and burn forever,

if your right, than we all just die and thats it,

I like my chances with god

  • How did males and females "evolve"?

    This ought to be good.

  • THE BIBLE IS WRONG

  • Have you ever read it? Most people judge without having read it.

  • Oh, if I was the devil I'd be smiling right now. Robinson has truly smeared the face of Christianity. Unitarianism is hersey, period. There is no way around this truth.Sin has blinded this nation. God is Holy and must judge all sin including mine. The only difference is Christs righteousness has been imputed to me n those who believe John 14:6 Repent for the kingdom of heaven is near.

  • PathofReason,

Your hearing prophets speak out the truth to warn of the wrath of God coming. Social Pschologists also give out Scriptures but it's those who are Spiritual judge all things. Jesus didn't want ~fallen man~ to judge according to their own ideas, but to deny themsevles and die with Christ so they can speak out God's Warnings so they might be converted and so that Jesus might heal them and so they might `go to heaven'.

    Please, remember that.

    In Love,

    One Lamb

  • That's right he's an unrepent sinner - he is flaunting his own lawlessness.

  • Lawlessness?

What laws my good sir? I sure don't recognize your personal arbitrary laws if you don't mind. You have no authority and neither does your book.

  • You seem to be saying that like its a bad thing???

  • I'm gay. I'm Christian. I do not think this man was a good choice to speak for me and my family. I am thankful they didn't broadcast this hurt soul utterances. I pray for his healing and I hope he learns that you can't approach a nation who is celebrating HOPE with a PRAYER that comes across bitter and hopeless. I thank GOD that this bitter man was edited out. There is a time to be born, a time to die, a time to speak out and a time to PRAY. Gene got it wrong and the FREE PRESS caught it.

  • allah says homosexulaity is wicked and not allowed in islam

  • No thanks. We certainly have a long hard road ahead of us with a president that appoints a person who has such a warped interpretation of morality and christianity to give the opening prayer. In God We the american people should Trust, as well as pray. Not in a figment of robinson's self righteous imagination "god of many understandings". This man is an abomination.

  • As a bisexual woman, my future husband and I are proud to be included on this historical day. I have heard Rick Warren's offensive comments comparing me to a child molester (being a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, you really have to understand me being offended) and I am glad that this man was included. It makes me feel like I am recognised as an American once again.

  • I am encouraged simply by christianity today posting this for me. Even if they are against those of us in the GLBT community, this was still a part of history, and I am ecstatic at the oppurtunity to witness it.

  • In every modern country it's very important to separate religion an politics...

Stop talking about god n every speech, it's ridiculous

  • I'm ashamed for those who judge this man's prayer. I'm ashamed for those who think they know better than our President Barack Obama. All he has ever done is get elected by the people of America- and yet people think it's going to be the end of a great age. The last eight years has not been perfect, stop thinking Barack will ruin his presidency. Stop thinking you know more than the country. Humble yourself first before you speak.

  • First of all, there is only one true God. I didn't appreciate the hecklers and in this guy's prayer, he didn't end it in Jesus' name. Jesus Christ came to earth to die for our sins. Don't believe me? Accept Jesus Christ as your personal saviour and see for yourself. Just try and see how He will change your life for the better. Don't deny, just try and please see for yourself. God Bless.

  • This was infinitely preferable to Rick Warren's drivel.

  • The Bishop prays like many of us would pray. I glad everyone had a chance to be heard at this public forum. God bless America.

  • I thought it was good. Let's not be nasty folks.

  • This isn't a prayer! What a joke! This is a speech. A prayer is a specific conversation to a specific God, not the generic political feel-good babble that's coming out of this guy's mouth.

The problem is...if you want to "pray" to just any ol' god- any ol' god will answer!

There's only ONE TRUE God- the God of the Bible- not islam, not mormon, not jehovah's witness, not buddha- just God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.

You don't have to agree with me NOW, but...you will.

  • This just makes me sick...

  • i would like to see MORE separation of church and state!

  • There is only one true God. I didn't care for the hecklers and the main point of my statement, the guy didn't end his prayer in Jesus' name. Jesus Christ came to this earth to die for our sins. Don't believe me? See for yourself and accept Jesus Christ. Just try and see for yourself how He will change your life for the better. God bless.

  • what if i choose to worship a different god or no god at all? or many gods? don't be so small minded. if you cannot prove your assumptions, you should not force them down the throats of others. btw, that is the same thing that islamic fundamentalists say. nobody has a monopoly on the truth or the human soul. grow your mind.

  • can you hear the hiss?

  • First, congrats to Obama! I could have done without hearing all the negativity this guy starts off with. But I agree, Obama needs a calm heart as Captain, in order to keep course during a trouble sea. He should have just said, O' Divine Source, instead of "God of many understandings". That was a very odd thing to say ... Amen!

  • uh huh... negativity. no wonder american's are so complacent...oh no, don't play the footage of starving people on the news! don't mention that there is oppression and disease! i don't want to know there is suffering in the world! just give me my mcdonalds and hbo and cheap beer.

oh and btw, there is no official state religion in the U.S., as protected by the 1st amendment, hence god of many understandings. you would have prefered a specific creed no doubt?

  • From richcook99:

Great lefty, liberal speech. It wasn't a prayer. It wasn't meant to be a prayer.

Psalm 66:18 says, "If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, my Lord would not have listened."

God isn't Santa. He doesn't take our list and obey. If we cling to sin, our prayers are useless. You can argue with me, but you can't argue with the Word.

  • you know the mind of god? what word? a text which was translated innumerable times from hebrew to aramaic to greek to latin and so on across thousands of years under varying political, social, and economic conditions? shall we cling to a creed which proscribes stoning to death for violating the sabbath? which deems the consumption of pork and shellfish as a sin? god is far to great and complex to hold in one simple, small minded creed.

  • AMEN! you also it was originally written long after most of them had died, so it was a group of legends passed down a few generations before even written down.

Then EDITED by the Roman church to suit its own agenda at the time. Many "gospels" didnt make it into the cannon due to not serving the agenda of the church in the 1300's. But some how its the"perfect word of God".

Why do the 2 versions of Jesus' heritage not match at all?

Both are contradictory but "true"? Yep true words to live by?!

  • great speaker and great person to represent the state of New Hampshire during the inauguration

  • god of our misunderstanding; Jesus, have mercy on America. Forgive us our sins for allowing such as these to stand and misrepresent those who are called by your holy name.

  • i really really don't like political prayers

i have a hard time praying for a man who is today as one of his priorities going to start sending taxpayer money overseas to pay for abortions

i don't see how that is more important than keeping american's in their homes and working

my prayer is that all americans will be safe the next four years, not just barack obama

  • cant being any worse than we have been the last 8

  • worse would be another attack on americans here in america

  • Who is the God of our many understandings? What is his name?

  • lol Now you know you shouldn't ask questions like that.

  • all christians know the answer to that question

just like the "all reglions gods judge us by how we" part of the prayer

a real christian prayer would have said what the bible says about that

  • YEAH! America! Looking for the easy way out! I had a dream that we would have a half black president whose black father left him (naturally). Voting for Obama because he's black is merely a continuation of racism, by putting on race over another. BTW there is no god except the Flying Spaghetti Monster so i don't know who that fool praying to. CHANGE!

  • Great lefty, liberabl speech.

  • How long will America have to humor these Atheists before we all grow up and admit there is a god?

I did it for the lulz.

  • Thank you Bishop Robinson, for a wonderful prayer, and thank you Christianity Today for posting this, since HBO didn't broadcast it, and we couldn't hear the majority of it in the crowd.

  • No thanks. Christianity Astray should be ashamed to post this without any indication whether they are for or against. This man is not a Christian, he is a heretic.

  • Well there is good news for you. This mans choices will not affect your afterlife. So you might want to relax yourself and enjoy the life you have.

  • What an aweful speech. This is coming from a Christian. There is no spirit of prayer here, just a preconcieved agenda.

  • By believing there is no God, you are subscribing to your own religious belief.

  • Thats like saying "not collecting stamps is a hobby"

  • I wish Bush could be president forever.I hate Obama.

  • bless us by erradicating the enslavement of the AMERiCAN PEOPLE from the international bankers that have hijacked our country and use their puppets (obama) BUSH or any pro war politician. Bless us my getting rid of these element that devalue our currency, outsource our jobs and send us to die for a greedy few who see US as Cattle to be fed upon.

  • Remember after the inaguration:

    1. Jesus is still King of Kings, and God is in control

    2. Rush is still right.

    3. Business (rich) do not pay taxes. They pass on any tax hikes to customers in the form of increased prices on goods/services.

    4. ANY politician, black or white, president, senator or house representative is out for self preservation, not for you.

    5. You are the only person who can improve your happiness. No official or stimulus check is going to change your well being.

  • If you truly believe #1, you shouldn't care about the rest. Also, #1 contradicts #5. You say God is on control, then you say only you can control your hapiness. That doesn't make sense.

  • Don't be silly, gods don't exist.

  • Who is this guy making his "speech" to? Say what? He's praying? Oh....OK. LOL.

  • What a disgrace this is!

  • the bush administration was all about enslaving the american people and meddling on other countries affairs under the name of ANTI-TERRORISM...

this administration will do the same under the flag of "HUMANITARIANISM"...

american's discarded their country in 1964... and must now suffer the consequences of their tragic folly ...

  • -- I'm not willing to like Obama until he legalize gay marriage...he's a phonie! nowadays there's no freedom!!!

  • I guess you're unaware that laws on gay marriage are created independently by each state. Obama has nothing to do with it.

  • lol these comments are priceless.

  • If you are a Christian, your Christ Jesus never talked bad about gays, why should you? Those who helped crucify him did (the defenders of the OLD LAW... aka "conservatives" of those times). Be a smart Christian. Study.

  • "Be a smart Christian: Study." Amen! I'm one of those Christians and I thought Bishop Robinson's prayer was beautiful. Christ's message was one of love and acceptance (for all, not some), not of bigotry and fear.

  • This prayer was beautiful... if someone thinks there's anything anyone cannot ask God for, then I don't know what God they believe in. God love people of all races and sexual orientations. And EVERYONE has the right to pray to God, and God will often place in each individual heart what is good and what is bad. If you are so full of hate that you cannot see that, you are way out of tune and confused of what God is really all about.

  • A lovely, and timely prayer. As a past middle aged, Catholic, mother of three great young adults, I embrace the sentiments of the Reverend and look forward to seeing a new country that lives up to the ideals of this great country. We must be the change.

  • I see a lot of comments, addressing the issue that the refusal to broadcast this is because of homophobia. IMO, this has absolutely nothing to do with that, but more about religion. Obama has said that America is a secular nation. As a secular nation, is it right to have a Christian prayer to the inaugeration of the man who will lead the country? No, as you would also have to allow prayers of all the other religions as well. Although the prayer was well intended,America is not a Christian Nation.

  • truth as you could fit into a thimble. Its comfortably vague and smacks of universalism, not surprising considering the source. I genuinely hope that this man can come to a point of repentance before its too late. Leaders of the Church are held to a high standard for a reason, because heresy can harm and lead many people astray.

  • His choices will not affect your entrance into heaven. Remember that.

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged.

For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Matthew 7:1-2

  • Robinson claims to be a minister of the Gospel and yet lives a life of blatant, habitual, and unrepented sin. He claims to love the church and all believers, yet he has caused a schism in the Episcopal church by refusing to step down as an openly gay minister. In short, he is a false teacher of the likes that Jesus warned his followers of when speaking of the last days. Anything he says must be taken with this in mind. His invocation sounds good, but contains about as much Biblical

  • Obama Nation= Obmination

  • it sounds like your boyfriend beats you, i urge you to seek help, you know Obama is the president now so you have rights again. as a woman i hope you will take it upon yourself to get it together and move on. change we can believe in.

  • This is a sweet and thoughtful prayer. It's fitting for the celebration because the singers didn't sing their top hits, they sang patriotic songs for the country. In the same vein, this prayer isn't about advocating an agenda, it's a prayer for the President Elect and our country.

  • Robinson is a blight on the face of the Christian church! I am extremely disappointed that he was allowed to spread his universalist ecumenical filth at such an important event. Those followers of Christ who stand for the truth and abhore falsehood will NEVER accept a minister who lives a life of blatant, habitual, and unrepentant sin. He is a false teacher and I hope for his sake that he repents before its too late.

  • Millions of mainstream Protestants side with Robinson over you, oregoncoastman. What made you come to this video? The desire to spew anti-gay, anti-Christian, anti-American hatred?

  • (to oregoncoastman) I am a Christian too and I thank God for Gene Robinson's caring and compassion (the hallmarks of the God I serve).

  • Oh great my Christianity bs! Man if only I had a life I wouldn't be complaining about something that doesn't really matter to my well being. Oh well I guess I'll have to complain since I don't agree with them making what they are doing automatically wrong and making me right.

  • The fear to change and the fear to evolve into a higher state of being. Among many other things, their small minds are unable to comprehend the complexly of self awareness. Lets start preaching quotes and see who has the biggest Johnson. If that dose not work, how about threatening each other. Wars dont start them selves

  • If I was a god-believing man, I'd say the same prayer. Instead I'll simply hope for the things mentioned. ;)

  • first amendment fail.

  • According to physics, opposite charges attract to one another, and without this attraction there could be no universe. So, based on this fact alone,

Homosexuality is either a choice, or is a result of brain deficiency, or a combination of the two.

Marriage: It is a Social Club that has existed for ages for wedded man and woman to join in.

It is violent for same sex partners trying to force themselves into. Go and create your own club! Simple!

  • That has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard..

  • How sad I was tonight to find that this stirring, faith-filled and heart-felt prayer was so vilified and attacked on the basis of a single phrase in it otherwise elegant presentation. What is it that you homophobes are so fearful of? I can only pray for your awakening to the truth that we are all created by God as we are and as God is.

  • Yes, we are all created by God and wonderfully made. Yet we all also have tendencies. Some good, many bad. Following those tendencies can indeed be a sinful act (i.e. the tendency to lie or steal). The "awakening of truth" you refer to can only be on your end as you read God's word and learn of the sinful acts this "minister" is committing and promoting.

  • It is reported on caucus blogs NY Times that HBO will now be broadcasting Bishop Robinson's prayer with any further showings of the event. This is the first time I have thought the old adage "better late then never" simply doesn't wash.

  • Sounds like that homophobe has some closeted issues that he needs to face. This is a great day that a gay minister was asked to pray! I applaud President Obama and I pray for the biggots that they will someday find the courage to love thy neighbor as thyself!

  • good

  • It is obvious some of you really need to listen to this prayer and use a bar of soap for your mouths, minds and thoughts.

  • How sad to see how far our country has fallen. This man obviously doesn't know the One, True God and is using his "prayer" to try to get his agenda across. May God have mercy on or souls.

  • Youtube, the pinnacle of intellectual discourse.

Have any of you listened to this invocation?

  • What the hell? A Christian YouTube channel that doesn't disable comments or ratings? I'm impressed! That being said, "every religion's god judges us by the way we care for the most vulnerable" sounds to me like an admittance of the existence of every god man has dreamt up! That, or this guy has just sold out his desert religion at the expense of being PC. Tisk tisk!

  • 170 million for an anguration is 170 million to much!

Not a good start- "for a change"

  • Apparently there was a communication error between the Obama Team and HBO.

Obama's Team thought they were going to show this prayer as a pre-show segment. HBO thought that meant to not put it on TV, which makes no sense. Obviously Obama's team needs this good PR to make it up a bit about Rick Warren.

So they are apparently REPLAYING this speech Tomorrow. Stay tuned!

  • Good job.

  • Sad day to see this man claim this is God's way. It's a sad sign of the times.

  • Moving speech.

Hopefully HBO does the right thing and adds the speech back on the Lincoln Inauguration Concert like they promised.

  • I'm not a christian, but I can embrace and agree with Rev Gene Robinson's Inaugural Prayer. I wish it had been televised. I think it was a wonderful prayer to start Obama's presidency.

  • That was an outstanding speech. It is incredibly sad that religious leaders like this are not heard in the mainstream and the public image of religion has been hijacked by followers of supply side jesus.

I really hope to see more people like him and Jim Wallis contributing to public dialogue.

  • this "prayer" is a fitting start for the Obamanation.

fitting also that he did not prayer in Jesus' name or even mention Him and this false shepherd's life is an abomination to God

  • GOD BLESS OBAMAA

  • god bless the lord and may the lord bless all of us. jk christians are old content.

  • Jesus. Why does AOL attract so many imbecilic bigots and homophobes?

  • I say to all gays and lesbians...if you are a doctor, nurse, engineer, scientist, teacher, police officer, firefighter, servicemember...etc. Canada would be more than glad to take you in. You would be allowed to marry and adopt.

Canada doesn't treat anyone like a second class citizen JUST BECAUSE you were born different.

    Go north...life is peaceful there!

  • Not broadcasting this invocation, I'm very suspicious...and disappointed in both HBO and PIC. The new administration is not off to a good start with the LGBT community.

  • I hope Barrack's address on Tuesday is not as long as this statement...

  • Thank you for posting video. Beautiful.

Most of the morons posting here...rather low life, single cell beasts. HBO will rebroadcast this Tuesday. The Obama people pulled it. YouTube really should keep most posters off the site. They seem to have been brought up in a barn. Yikes.

  • Well, well, well. Why am I NOT surprised that the hatemongers are out in force here?!? Might I suggest that you actually try LISTENING to what this amazing man of God is saying instead of just assuming he's evil!!!

  • This man is no man of God.

  • He is more of a man of God than is Warren, some might respond. Neither of us can speak for God, though, so neither of us should try.

  • Thats because "God" dosent exist

  • I support Obama as well, I just don't agree with all of his viewpoints. Remember that age doesn't mean you know what your talking about, I know many dumbass 40ish year olds.

No one can stop gays from being together, but they should not be allowed to marry or have civil unions. That is where I disagree with Obama. Marriage is a religious sacrement. The Bible speaks against homosexuality. While I don' hate gays, I don't support them in this way.

    I suggest a sexual therapist

  • just because you think that they should not be allowed to marry, does not mean that they wont or will do in the future. I disagree with abortion but I will fight for a woman's right to make that choice.

  • Unless you're Catholic, marriage is not a religious sacrement. When was the last time you were in church?

  • Gene Robinson gave us an elegant, eloquent, respectful kick-off to the next chapter in American history. I'd love to see more posts that honor the spirit of this invocation, because we need a lot more of it to help us put our heads together to solve this country's problems.

  • What a shame this wasn't seen on HBO. It was a wonderful prayer.

"Bless us with discomfort at the easy, simplistic answers weve preferred to hear from our politicians, instead of the truth, about ourselves and the world, which we need to face if we are going to rise to the challenges of the future."

How true. We must stop expecting simple answers to complex problems. There are no easy answers.

  • lol, being gay isn't genetic, it's how you grow up (early years). I love LGBT lol, don't get me wrong.

  • LOL? Are you gay. What's so funny? I was BORN gay. You aren't so open-minded to insult me like that.

  • there is no such thing as "born gay" you are scientifically born what nature intended humans to be which is straight. Your mind is just perverted into thinking you are gay.

  • Sorry opinion but the evidence doesn't support your claim. Noone knows for certain what determines sexual orientation but genetics definitely plays a role.

  • @opinion56

While there is certainly no concrete proof of a "Gay gene", it's a bit of a misconception to think that nature "intended" anything with regards to our sex life.

Moreover, I don't think enjoying an orgasm with another consenting adult can be considered perverted, unless you're a bigot.

  • Don't get you wrong? Just because you "love" LGBT makes you an expert on this matter. Millions of us who have actually known love only for the same sex our whole lives and our families who could tell and tried to fix us since and early age must have been wrong, you have declared this, it must be so.
