THe most important thing the GOP can do at the state level is dis-infrancize the minority voters in my opinion, who wernt intended to be able to vote in the first place, since they are not land owners. We allow 3 million people a year to immigrate here, much from the 3rd world, which advantages the dems. That's not fair. Time to even things up by closing regestration on sundays, by not allowing early voting, by making sure they have I.D. - that should squeltch a bunch of the minority vote. GOOD!

It could, but I'm pretty sure you're mistaken. I'm sure you've seen conservatives constantly writing "We are a republic, not a democracy." They aren't saying that because they like democracy - they hate it. They want to return to a republic where only white, male, land owners can vote.

They didn't like the idea of a 'direct democracy' as they felt there were some issues that the common person wasn't qualified to decide upon. They just set it up in such a way so that there was a balance between Democratic style elections and the government of a Republic.
That's what I said - the republic we had allowed only white, male, land owners to vote.
Direct democracy is really another issue altogether. That just means you don't have representatives, you vote directly on legislation. We have a little of that in California.
I don't think the framers were against direct democracy because of the common man so much as they were against a majority taking all the power. Even in direct democracy you can limit voting to land owners.

THe most important thing the GOP can do at the state level is dis-infrancize the minority voters in my opinion, who wernt intended to be able to vote in the first place, since they are not land owners. We allow 3 million people a year to immigrate here, much from the 3rd world, which advantages the dems. That's not fair. Time to even things up by closing regestration on sundays, by not allowing early voting, by making sure they have I.D. - that should squeltch a bunch of the minority vote. GOOD!

It could, but I'm pretty sure you're mistaken. I'm sure you've seen conservatives constantly writing "We are a republic, not a democracy." They aren't saying that because they like democracy - they hate it. They want to return to a republic where only white, male, land owners can vote.

@TheGiantRobot Actually, the founding fathers intended on the US being a Republic, in the first place. It's even in writing. They didn't like the idea of a 'direct democracy' as they felt there were some issues that the common person wasn't qualified to decide upon. They just set it up in such a way so that there was a balance between Democratic style elections and the government of a Republic.

Direct democracy is really another issue altogether. That just means you don't have representatives, you vote directly on legislation. We have a little of that in California.
I don't think the framers were against direct democracy because of the common man so much as they were against a majority taking all the power. Even in direct democracy you can limit voting to land owners.

There was no voter fraud perpetrated by acorn and the attack on them was a politically motivated witch hunt. Individual canvassers who were part time contractors of acorn did commit criminal acts (to avoid doing their job) but it was acorn who reported them for it. You clearly watch way too much fox ..
