  • Outstanding!

  • It so wonderful singing! This music make me feel almost physical pleasure!

  • MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM POLAND! <3 ;)

  • Talented! Brian McKnights brother is a member of this group...I love them!

  • i don't really like them. but i haven't heard anything they have preveriosly done. but they are ok. i dont dispise them. but still a good song sung by a talented group :)

  • @nightlifegirl13 "You haven't heard anything they have previously done?!?!?!?!"

    TAKE 6 ?! Really?

  • @xodus1914 yep. first time hearing them. are they good?

  • @nightlifegirl13 Try a youtube/google/wikipedia search on "Take 6" and have fun!

  • Um, this is many years after the Christmas album... Their voices obviously aren't the same, and I have a hunch that most of you guys aren't a capella experts. Take 6 is amazing!!! :)

  • Take 6 is just incredible! Love them!

  • The most wonderful vocal group!

  • Really great performance. I want to oin this group, do you need a bass??

  • Beautiful ;D

  • i love this group they r really good!

  • It started out a little shaky, but it came through. Their harmonies were good.

  • If you want something more conventional, look at their rendition of 7 Steps to Heaven. Should please those who praise more conventional arrangements.

  • also suggest the critics listen to some of their more conventional arrangements and/or covers. They kill those groups like the Blenders and Naturally 7.

  • Take 6..... more singing lessons. My god!

  • ❤ :)

  • estupendo!...me conmueven hasta las lagrimas!

  • wonderful, amazing!

love it! both the song AND your interpretation of it!

  • Take 6 are so hard. Incredible voices. What a harmony?

  • 9 people are deaf.... >.<

  • i really do love their harmony.. i neva felt this way inside before.. i love it

  • perfect harmony i love it

  • fantástico....

  • One of my all times Christmas favorites from Take 6! They have such incredible voices...

  • black men had always been great in singing, specially Take 6! wow this is really heartwarming......

  • I've been looking for this particular version for ages.. This is usually played in the malls by this time and I've always been curious who sang this beautiful rendition.

  • They are not one of the greatest groups but ' the greatest accapella group in the world' because their harmonies are so advanced !@

  • awesome ;)

  • WOW!!! I've only heard this song sang right once and it was Amy Grants version. But this really awesome too. This is my absolute favorite Christmas song. I've always loved this song.

  • EXCELLENT. I saw them live at the Regal theater twice in Chicago.

  • sounds like a breath of fresh air... take 6 you're still doing your thing! amazing!

  • Black Men. =)

  • Wonderful gift to a girl home w/the flu on Christmas 2010! Thanks, Brothas!

  • maligayang pasko!

  • WoW!! Oh WoW!!! Fantastic Harmonies, really something special.

  • The harmonies they're doing are very difficult and not the normal 3 part harmony chords we are used to hearing (more like jazz).

  • I'm 18 and its so sad that more kids my age can't listen to CDs to like theirs.

I've grown up with this CD and I absolutely love it.

  • I agree. It is only about which environment u grow up. I am 24 and I am from a musicians' family. Since I have always been surrounded by this kind of music - let's say more difficult or demanding - I take it as normal and enjoy every bit of this song. If I played it to some of my friends who actually do not (or even can't) share my feelings, they'd find it really boring and would not understand it at all... :-(

  • I see so many negative comments. But for me, not being a 'music' expert or anything - I just know that listening to them makes me feel good. Listening to the chords are just awe inspiring. So I commend them and I could just listen to them everyday. I don't want to get into the 'over analyzing' phase like some did. I just know that I loved it.

  • @6411Sandra Like!!!

  • @248ERICK The really scary thing is that they may not be deaf......

  • @k6musicteacher well i'm sure about this..... they dont have ears.... xD

  • 2:42 to the end

  • These guys are SOOOOOO talented!

  • it sounded like out of tune, but when you replay it, the tunes were fine! haha. so great!!! i like the solo of the bass, haha. very funny! To God be the glory!

P.S. the tones they did are not the usual choir tones for the song that is why i thought they were out of tune, but they were really not haha.

  • Amazing harmony!

  • my choir is doing this! :D its absolutely gorgeous

  • Great job.

  • I remember having the Take 6 Christmas cd when I was younger. We used to just let it play through while opening our Christmas presents. Back then, I was a child, and this song didn't mean much more than any other. Now that I am grown and I have a true relationship with Jesus Christ, I can't help but tear up when I hear this song (even now as I type these words). God bless you all and Merry Christmas.

  • Nobody has better harmony then them.....Not even Naturally 7.

  • I'm in a chamber choir doing this song. Kinda tough but it sounds great when its right. This is a fantastic arrangement.

  • They make an excellent baber shop courtec

  • This group is phenomenal. It boggles the mind how any respondent could disparage this performance. The only other group that is better, and who paved the path for this quality of timbre and harmony, are the "Hi Los". I was born in the 1940s...most of you don't even know who they are. They set the standard. However, ultimately these cyber altercations are senseless. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and the ears of the behearer (if there is such a word!) Just agree to disagree, agreeably.

  • @MALP1231 I agree, this is brilliant. Take 6 know who the Hi-Los are....I have the HE IS CHRISTMAS CD and among the names of those they 'collectively would like to thank' is Gene Puerling (for those who don't know, he was the founder of the Hi-Los).

  • @PerisphereRec He later wrote the arrangements for the singers unlimited records. Check out- singers unlimited w/ oscar peterson, and the album with the boss brass. Killer writing!

  • @brennennase Indeed. One of the greats. I have a few Singers Unlimited albums, including the one with Rob McConnell and the Boss Brass. Gene Puerling died in 2008 and McConnell on 1st May this year. (And there's also the album ROB McCONNELL AND THE HI-LO'S [also with the Boss Brass] to check out....)

  • These guys are all over the place.. :/

Flat in spots, and there seems to be a couple of "solo stars" amongst them.

This really sits on poorly with me. It's just... Not that good. :/

  • @Mangasama u dont know music.. those are very complexed jazz chords they are hitting with their voices......no one else in the world like them

  • @Mangasama ive been playing the piano for 25 years......never have i seen and heard music chords so cleverly arranged ... shame on u ... take up music appreciation.. its painfully abvious u know squat about jazz

  • @oriaston67 Incorrect on all counts. I know music, and the notes they're TRYING to reach would be poetic on scale, however it doesn't reach the potential it's trying to reach. I've heard college choirs reach better scales and mesh better.

Naturally 7 do an amazing work that this group can only dream of reaching. These guys miss on so many fronts, that's not say they can't sing.. They can, but not in result of this video.

Please, don't attack me when it comes to music. Makes you look the fool.

  • @Mangasama i know music. i sing it for a living. My dear friend you have no idea what you are talking about. Their harmonies are amazing. Sure if there were 7 in the group it would be even more amazing but you know what for 6 people its absolutely stunning! I may be a stage crew techie BUT i am also in one of THE BEST High School Choir in my State! We have NEVER failed to bring home an exellent or BETTER. you know NOTHING about music! I saw them Live not even my CHOIR can bet them!!

  • @happygirl4527

    Hah.. Again, an attacker. Seriously?

Am I saying these guys can't sing? Not at all. I've watched their videos and downloaded some tracks, they can sing when given the chance, however, their voices don't blend all too well in this clip. They just seem remarkably average.

Groups that impress are Naturally 7- as said before, The Blenders, Mosaic, and Brown Derbies.. Yep.

  • @Mangasama do have any idea what blending even means!? I have listened to The Blenders of the same song and my opinon is although good it just does not have the middle harmonies as Take 6's does. Take 6 has a GREAT blend. I have seen these guys live and i have heard them on recording they sound the same either way. I also listend to Naturally 7 they are ok. Nothing compared to Take 6. They are JUST like Take 6 only there are 7 of them. They are also really pitchy in some areas.

  • @happygirl4527

    -=sighs=- I'm done with you.

  • @Mangasama oh.. ur a young musician? lol..... well that explains it all to me live a little longer... take is the best ask anyone else who is older than u and been in music a little longer student at ur school cud not achieve what these guys have if so ... post their video... oh thats right their not famous or making money yet lol

  • @oriaston67

I appreciate your use of the word "yet". =P

And now I wash my hands of you, too.

  • @Mangasama LOL, These guys run circles around those groups. Those groups musically never get ambitious like Take 6 does. They aren't doing the Jazz type seperations either.

  • @Mangasama You are entitled to you opinion of course, but you do realize that Take 6 has several Grammy's, and are considered one of the greatest acapella groups of all time? True, they are 15-20 years past their prime, but even this clip is better than most of the groups you included. This goes for the Blenders, who requires "help" on a lot of their songs.

  • @Mangasama Le respond to old comment...I know. If you are that "self-proclaimed" master of music why don't you do it better then...

  • I love Take 6's version of this song. It just makes me want to hug strangers and buy Christmas gifts for everyone! LOL

  • my jazz choir is trying to sing this for our Christmas concert....

    key word: TRYING -___-

  • OndraZostrova, take a listen to The Blenders Christmas music.

  • @aquila5659 I heard the Blenders' version. I like it, I like it a lot. Take 6 put a little bit of soul in their version. I'm a 27 year old "soul man".

  • Fair play, black singers are so good.

  • I'm singing this in chamber choir! Amazing harmony!

  • Simplesmente Divino!!! Deus abençoe a todos!!!

  • Grosso loco, es perfecto suena como un CD. Son lo más grande que hay...los bajos de Alvin afinadísimos y bien empastados...El equilibrio de todas las partes es insuperable. Gracias Take 6 GRACIASSSSS

  • This is very nice.....listen to the Blenders version....they are much better with better arrangements.

  • @aquila5659 No one´s better than Take 6 dude...

  • Absolutely gorgeous rendition...beautiful, impeccable harmony. They remind me very much of the Hi Lo's, who had such beautiful voices and harmonies. I'm 61 and remember them very well. My mom bought their albums, and I listened to them, often. This is, beyond a doubt, the most talented group to come along since the Hi Lo's....although there are certainly other wonderful groups...Manhattan Transfer, Fifth Dimension, etc. The first time I heard this song ...on the radio....I was blown away!

  • @MALP1231 Manhattan Transfer! I'm 40 and you are taking me back, old-timer! ;-)

  • as with any live recording, the possibility of not being perfectly in tune is always there and even the great take 6 can run into some pitch issues. but the song is very difficult and they are amazing. a vocal jazz group i was in tried to do this arrangement and could not come close to the way take 6 performs it. this performance is a little on the slow side though. but i love it! :D

  • @sergkoch1

Wow your comment luckely prooves that they still are humans, and not gods, making mistakes proofs that they are absolutely brilliant in anyway, and that they do push their work to the limits

  • @sergkoch1 Tempo is good enough. And change of keys is well done. What are you talking about??

  • i think its a little out of tune

  • I agree. When they change keys at 1:54, some of the group stays in the original key which makes it sound like dog ****. Eventually the group shifts back to the original key to resolve the dissonance. Not to mention the song is sung well under tempo.

  • hahaha, you might have dog **** in your head, my friend. this is the most unqualified comment i've ever read on youtube! go back and play tekken or whatever....

    merry christmas though

  • @PfunkyPfirsich, right back at you, minus the merry christmas part.

  • hahaahha, you're funny!

  • I bet you cant sing a lick! Hater

  • @mosaic05, I'm no choir boy, but I know every scale, backwards and forwards. I'm a brass player and can back up what I say, believe me. What are your qualifications, exactly?

  • Being a musician myself, I think in the middle of all your musical snobbishness and theory dissection, you fail at understanding the purpose of music. FUCKING APPRECIATE IT, BITCH!

  • Being a trumpet player for the past 23 years I think I may be qualified enough to say DCIGUY you sound crazy. What you refer to as dog**** is actually intentional, and if you were any type of musician you would know that. Go get some practice in kiddo.

  • good singing all i got to day like them

  • i have never heard such amazing harmony from any group

  • @junior3605 i love it too

  • mind blowing. if anyone doesn't know these guys have a whole album of Christmas songs and you should buy it!

  • Comment removed

  • I think the are sounding extremelly clean, no effects of any nature... no compression, no reverb... nothing. But its their performance still really impressive for "pure" voice with no sound processing...

  • i play this often every christmas. here in the philippines, we kinda start christmas unofficically on September. so i started listening to some christmas songs.

  • Let's do this again...(smile)

If anyone out there have the rest of the songs from this performance, please post them.

  • The CD version is better, but this is still very good

  • which cd? i would like to purchase it!! merry christmas to you all!

  • CD called "He Is Christmas".

  • thank you so much!

  • the best vocal group in the world. By far

  • I l00v33 Take 6

    that sounds so angelic

  • Perfect

  • They aren't blending as much as they normally do in this one, but it is still wonderfully amazing!!

  • they did sound not as Take 6 as usual but still a good one

  • I agree that they aren't blending as much as they normally do and they sounded a bit sluggish especially the higher tenors(Claude and Mark). Maybe they were tired from traveling and singing alot). Overall they did well and I love them.:)

  • Does anyone have the other 5 songs they performed at this program? If so, please post them!! :-)

  • awesome.

  • Thank you for adding this!

  • A bit of a shaky start there!!....You know I have to point that out cause I think they can do no wrong

  • Theri amazing they sing Great =]
