Sounds more like Crass than it does The Tubthumping Chumbawamba. thie version I have of this is great but this is WAAAY better, I can't believe I've never heard it
Fantastic track from years back. Remember this from fairmead social club in Whitby and always one of my fave bands. Highly original and still telling it like it is. If people say Crass Clone this isn't really a bad thing. If it makes people think and question life and themselves and look for a brighter future then this surely can't be bad. Whatever or whoever Chumbawamba sound like is pretty irrelevant but what they sing about is what counts. Also they are damn nice people
@arnoklephoque ...just another crass clone. yeah, they do sound similar to crass, i dont see that as bad, and i certainly cant think of another band that sounds like crass. ha.
@b0mbcityrocker Yeah, youve got a point, but what im meaning to say is that there isent many. makes it sound like there is a billion of people that sound like crass. ;]
The anti-state comp is where i found it. Apparently there's a better, more pissed off but abridged version of it at the end of another song. Which song, however, slips my mind.
If you listen to alot of chumbawamba music, they reuse the same lyrics, music, and replace things in various songs. The beginning of this song is the 2nd part of Dutial Servants and Political Masters.
The 4 minutes and 43 seconds that you hear here is one side of the first single Revolution. With alot indie singles especially around this time (1985) it was not lifted from an album although the first abum 'Pictures Of Starving Children', which followed later that year, sounds similar in many areas. So if you like this, you'll love that. For their 25th Birthday they started the show with this. Everyone was quite shocked as it had been a long time since they had played it. It was brilliant.

You punk posers says they're sold out because they decided to follow their own way.
Isn't it the way a punk band should always behave ?
I don't think their early stuff is "bad", but I really think their later stuff is largely better and more "personal".
Early Chumbawamba is just another CRASS clone...

DrDoog, this version was a 7" single, released in 1985. It got into Peel's Festive Fifty at number 6 no less.

First heard this live when they supported Poison girls in 1984 - as relevant today as it ever was.
But you can't beat those Leeds & Bratfud accents lol.

This music is so great. And these wise words - "always starting with revolution, always ending in capitulation".
That's why revolution should be begun again and again, in every little way possible.
