Music can be purchased from production houses. If the composer/artist of the song signs over the rights to the production house it means it can be used in any way the purchaser wants... could be used for porno even lol. So this might be one of those times. p.s. Im an audio engineer

You guys realize it's probably music by a company not at all related to 3d Realms? Much like the trailer for Thief Deadly Shadows - the music wasn't composed by Alex Brandon (Ion Storm's main composer for Thief 3/DX:IW), but by some other company selling usage fee's for it.

The theme for E3 2001 was written by Lee Jackson and played by a orchestra SPECIFICALLY for the trailer. It is afterall the Grabbag Duke Nukem Theme. So in this instance, no, thats totally wrong.

Technically, it was David Arkenstone who did that specific orchestral version, but it was of course Lee Jackson who made the original song for DN3D. IIRC, he'd left 3D Realms some time before that trailer was made.

Sounds like they edited all the good bits (ie. the music without FX's throught it) and put it together nicely as it's own theme.

thought listening to it, it's very hard hitting music and suits the news well.

About the rip-off - a crying shame all right. My guess it that the people who did the jingles probably pawned off the theme to the ignorant media bosses of the channel.
