As another poster said, this is a Sherrill Milnes FEAST! Thanks for including the LUISA MILLER excerpt -- it's one of my absolute favorites in Milnes' repertory.
Fabulous compilation - even had a few excerpts I'd not seen before. Thanks so much for bringing back these priceless moments. I've always felt lucky to have been turned on to opera by Sherrill (and PD) as a kid when I wandered unsuspectingly into a performance of Otello ( Met on tour ). Felt like I had been struck by lightning. It was the start of a long and happy 'relationship'--on stage, tv, film, records,he always gave 100%. Wish there were some way to thank him for all the wonderful years.
Best baritone ever on this Planet .Good stage presence, excellent voice control, legato, piano, forte, top notes like super-baritone, just a perfect singing machine. I wish to be like him.
A truly affectionate and quite moving tribute to an operatic great. I was a little disappointed at the lack of any Tosca, his role of Scarpia in the 1976 film production is for me one of his finest hours, but it was a wonderful watch and thank you for sharing.
@ leonardo...Milnes didn't have a paralyzed vocal fold...he had a capillary that burst. Still a terrible thing, though. Sherrill is a good friend of mine and we work together quite often when he works with singers (I'm the accompanist). It's SOMETHING to hear him demonstrate vocally right next to me...still the same sound! And he's just the nicest guy...
Excelente tributo a éste muy buen barítono especialista en roles verdianos que cantó muchísimas veces en el Met. con Domingo y Pavarotti, poseedor de una hermosa voz.
What a great collection of higlights from a fabulous baritone.. a major major voice. it was such a shame he ended up with a paralyzed vocal cord.( not that uncommon of a disease... as i have heard of several with it, and normally it ends their careers.).
Saw him in Don Carlo when the Met used to tour to Cleveland. Unforgettable performance...

His Rigoletto-Final is simply amazing! Not the best Rigoletto in total, but that ending! Geez...
