@Armlight9 3 elite legions were tactically ambushed and ereased from the forest, that was decisive to free the Germania Magna province. You have read "lot" of history so you should know how many crushing victories did Romans agains Alamanis, Juts and many other tribes, right? you have said something REALLY WRONG, you said "Roman victories based on outnumbering the enemy"! Romans were in about 80% of the battles against Germanics outnumbered, and not in a 2/1 ratio, sometimes 10 germans 1 roman

crap i dident know varuse commited suicide but i but i guess if the germans captured him it would be alote wors the execution i mean but still i couldent give the troops very much morale
you are the one who seems not to know something about history, the romans asked the cheruskers for tributes. that was the reason for the battle in teutoburg forrest, or do you think, they made the battle just for fun?
Do not feel pity for the slaughtered legionaires thay are the equivilant to Hitler's Nazis!-Arrogant,etc. The Germans surely had every right to kick the invaders out! -And every means.
Go back to the drawing board! The legions would never have been defeated where you placed them! The three legions were strung out over several miles of ever diminishing trackway. Heavy rains soaked the area and the soldiers themselves.Morale sank rapidly after the attacks began. Augustus paid the price of keeping family members in vital posts.(Varus was married to his niece). Ironically Varus's father and grandfather both topped themselves-something Augustus should ,perhaps, have looked into!!
The battle shouldnt have been called a battle. The legions where stretched out over more than ten miles, although the romans had around 18,000 men they would have beeon only 2 to 3 wide. There was no path to follow instead they marched deep into the forests. With women and peasents intermingled with the soldiers and with no room to arrange formations the romans where butchered at will over the 3 days of fighting. although they created a temporary fort for defense they where evebtualy over run.
Romans need to be strung out more in a ten mile long column for starters with fqamilies intermixed. It's a dense FOREST, people. Also, the fight was in a swamp, uphill, against a barrier of fallen trees. Rome never developed a technique for forest warfare. Also, Varus married the emperor's niece and won his command as a political general. He was a Westmoreland when a Patton was needed.
If Varus wasn't defeated at Teutoburg Forest and if Emperor Augustus wouldnt've renounced at his plan to reach the river Elba, today's Germany would have been much smaller, the anglo-saxon's raids would not have existed and today's England wouldnt exist
This is a really hard battle to do. At first i just tried fighting my way through but that didn't work and then i decided to lead my weakest units as bait then finish them with the bulk of the infantry. I kept on doing that but it took to long and i ran out of time which is hard to do. The third time i did it i knew where the germans were so it went alot faster
the actual battle wasnt really a battle. It was drawn out over days and most of the fighting occured in pockets becuase the legions were in such a stretched marching column.

WMG is so greedy that they prevent what would otherwise be free advertisement for musical artists.
Due to the primitive savage greed of WMG, I am unable to buy a single one of their over priced products!
