@dani47410 no that's not true so please don 't worry. Wild cockatiels sit out in the rain. afterall and every book i've read says a light misting with a spray bottle is a treat as cockatiels love it to clean and too cool off. Some even enjoy the shower. Mine goes happily bananas when spritzed (of course not dirrectly in the face) and like the cockatiel in this video hde enjoys a nice splash about in a very shallow dish of water.

i saw a different video of someone putting some type of shampoo on their cockatiel is that needed or more like this just letting them cool down? both video showed the same thing for amount of water no more then 2 inchs do cockatiel feathers get heavy from water?

I have a tiel named Bijou as well (see my vid "Meet Bijou" if you want!) but she's a female. Your tiels are so cute! It's adorable when they bathe that way. Did Bijou say "Bijou, Bijou!" at 0:16? So cute!

Ahhhh. I hope some day I may get a pet Cockatiel. My moms problem is there loudness/messyness. She said she would think about, but until I get some anwsers. she will probly say no. So if you know how messy and loud they are please tell me.

@Syphon559 Female cockatiels can scream sometimes (it's usually the males who sing), but no cockatiel should scream all day. If they do, it means they're encouraged to do so (by accident). They can be quite messy, because they shed A LOT of "dandruff", just like their cousins, the cockatoos.

Perhaps you could get a budgie or an Indian Ringneck. Whatever you do, research everything online! It's a big commitment!

I had a male cockatiel and he sang a lot too. In fact, we had canaries too, and one day, I noticed my cockatiel singing this very ODD song...and realized that he was trying to imitate the trill of a canary...very cute.

We adopted Bijou (the gray one), and he knew some things already, but we just worked with him and he seems to just like to whistle whatever he can. When we're with him, he can do the Andy Griffith song quite well... at least the first notes of the song.

We also taught him to do the whistle the Bender from Futurama does, for some reason he really likes that one.

@m4tt1600 Hello...very interesting because when I watch your video (which by the way is just great) our cockatiel which we have had it for 12 years also whisthle to the tune Andy Williams Mayberry RFD and, when our little guy hers yours chirping he started a long "sing-a-long as well. We love ours just like you love yours and lots of times I'm tempted to get ours a companion as well.

@jasmine0813 I can't remember, it started by spritzing them with a spray bottle, and one day we had a bowl out that had some water and the Sunny (the yellow one) decided to hop in it and started bathing, it was really funny the first time. She also tried hopping in water glasses as well.

It was less funny once she tried to get in our cereal bowls. :)
