  • He's descendants had the lordship in Novogrod (their power was narrow though, Novogrod was still a republic) and his men called Ros from his name started the history of Russi

  • Well, technically viking means an expedition for loot (which means trading, pillaging and settleing), not a culture. Most Scandinavian cultures had a viking custom, so that's why they were called vikings. One of the viking leaders, Rorik (it's not confirmed where he was from, prodably from Jutland) was invited to Novogrod (northwest of today's Russia) to calm the conflict between Slavs and Ugrofins.

  • Wow, are you ignorant.

Swedish and Norwegian traders explored the Volga and Dneipr rivers all the way to Constantinople. Along the way encountered Slavic tribes that begged them for leadership, which they did, and became the known as the "Rus", founding Keiv, Muscovy (later Moscow).

If you want to nitpick without sounding like a twat, you could point out that viking is a verb and not a noun. There were no "vikings", only Danes a Norsemen.

  • russians are not smart enough to be anything but vodka swillers and commies.die russkies!there were never any vikings who were russians.

  • yes...and ther is no such thing as a russian viking!!!!

  • That isnt Russian Vikings, It is "Ruserna" Wich were Swedish Vikings in Russia, It was them who gave name to Russia..
