I think it's awesome that there are people that care so much about tiny islands in the middle of the ocean that very little of the world has even heard of. It's great to see that a small group of people made a big difference in helping and even saving the lives of these islanders.
Thanks for the kind words. Ironically Joe's plane got trashed due to a landing gear malfunction in Banda Aceh where he was doing relief flights after the big tsunami. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but his plane was toast.
The shot in the hanger was another fun skatecam shoot. I had to duck under the tail of the plane at the last possible minute. When we were dropping bottles I would shoot in the cockpit on one pass, then from the passenger compartment on the next...while tearing up cardboard boxes and tossing them in the back of the plane. Wild, sweaty ride, barefooted and barechested. Big Fun!
This adventure was the most fun I ever had on an airplane. I went along as the vidographer and cargomaster on several typhoon relief flights in the outer islands of Yap State in Micronesia. In this clip, we were dropping bottles of water and Gator Ade in the lagoon at Satawal. Satawal is one of the homes of the pacific navigators that ply the vast Pacific Ocean in sailing canoes.
