Even better - why not removing the fingerprint scanners altogether? Then you won't have these risks at all and you'll save money not only on sterilizers, but on needless paperwork, electronic devices, bureaucracy etc.
@v01741r31 Make your case, let's hear your constructive criticism, I'm sure you have more than just ad homs. What is it about "Dr" Ron I-don't-know-what-a-theory-is-in-science Paul that makes more sense than what experts in the field have to say?
say waaaaaaat? everytime you enter the us your prints are put into a fingerprint database? did i understand that bit right? cause if i did then... damn lol
@Thunderf00t Here is a better solution to the problem: Abolish the Department of Homeland Security. This useless bureaucracy has done nothing to make this country safe, and besides being a waste of money, it is a colossal affront to human liberty.
People need to get sick more and build immunities to various illnesses rather than trying to run away from the inevitability of getting sick sooner or later, stronger immunities to diseases that are naturally fought off create a stronger breed of person instead of having weakened and relaxed helper T cells.
DHS and the CDC already have a working relationship, and logical (& legally), diseases and their spread are CDC business. I think the idea underlying RP's criticism is the power inflation that occurs in single agencies & the fed gov't as a whole, i.e., agencies arrogating to themselves new tasks & thus the power & authority to pursue those new tasks. I share your concern over swine flu, but DHS really does have NO business creating its own policies about it. It should be covered by the CDC.
It's quite amazing that some people that have responded to this video want to dismiss the desire to audit federal reserve as some sort of conspiracy sickness! American debt over $12 trillion, completely admitted. Obama already signed an agreement to raise the 'ceiling' to over $14 trillion. Conservative estimates already state debt will be $22 trillion by the end of Obama's first term. Seriously, good luck, you're going to need it.
I believe you have misunderstood or are in error as to Dr. Pauls reasons for objecting. In the US, the Centers For Disease Control would recommend steps or advice on communicable diseases not Homeland Security. You don't ask the police about this problem, you ask the doctor . His remarks are regards the proper agency to deal and advise , not what steps to prevent the spread.
@JonKevinCherry If the DOHS was taking the H1N1 outbreak into account of their daily operations, that certainly does not constitute them doing the job of the CDC.
@JonKevinCherry how stupid your comment is. This video is about Rons stupid objections to home land security, for fuck sake doctors does not take the business off border control, all what TF pointed out is to prevent the virus spreading via the border check. Be more objective!
Instead of alcohol wipes, why not retrofit the scanners with UV lights will kill anything on the plates? This should be cheaper overall and will not require any sort of action by the operator.
I believe that Ron Paul is usually correct when it comes to his criticism of big government. I'm not so sure that he was right this time, though. You point out the practical reasons that Homeland Security is in an ideal position to prevent the spread of swine flu. That being said, it's worth mentioning that the overreach of government in other areas is probably a big reason why he made this criticism, even if it is wrong.
im a fan of you thunderf00t, but i dont think ron paul is the person that should be taking flak. he's always seemed to be level headed in his words to me, and doesnt seem to base him actions on a textbook agenda
Ron Paul is also one of those guys who doesn't take potential things like swine flu seriously. People laugh now if it doesn't become a pandemic. They wait they laugh they wait they laugh, and then comes the pandemic and what then? Next alert, panic. Alert after that, some gumpiness. Alert after that one, amusement, next alert = laugh and so the circle continues...
LOL one: you are confused, look at the situation more closely. this isn't just any drug company or independent doctor warning about the potentials of swine flu. this is special interest pharma with connections with the government that received 2 billion dollars of special interest money. your basic assumption seems to be "if government warns us and we don't listen, there's nobody else". let's spend 2 billion dollar every time special interest tells us to, see how much we can laugh about it.
a loss in income is actually a greater loss in GDP due to the multiplier effect, so three days of work lost is more than $300. also, the average person does not work 365 days per year, but your calculation there still makes sense because it is the daily average.
It is the responsibility of the public areas to provide methods of sanitation, both for their own assets and those required by law. Ron is simply saying that an entire department (an inflation of the government which he actively speaks against, I'll add) should not be wasting as much time and money as Homeland Security undoubtedly is, for the work that a single drab piece of legislation could do just as easily. Good topic though.
I have been of the opinion for some time now that the H1N1 is (yet another) media scare/Pharma fleecing, and have not yet seen one indication contrariwise. I know of no one personally who has been infected with it, and have only hearsay evidence that it's "no big deal" from those who have personal contacts with the infected.
Looks like it was a scam, just like last years scam.
@bassbole Hmm, you have a point there. Perhaps I was a bit hasty in disregarding the potntial threat of frumious Bandersnatches, as well.
Really, what you show here is textbook cognitive dissonance. It's obvious you were wrong, the fraud was easy to detect, and your ego can't tolerate the possibility that you are a fool.
this is kind of stupid. why should ron paul be responsible for making sure your idea is put to use? It isnt a bad idea, but it isnt like ron paul has control over that. why not ask why Obama isn't getting this done? or WHOever is in charge?
I have the impression Ron Paul is against "socialist" things like uinversal healthcare and Center of Diseas Control? If I am wrong please do correct me...
I think your gripe should be with the emigration dept and there sanitation procedures you seem to be missing that Dr. Pauls point is more about growing government and overlaping DHS jurisdiction into other agencies. I am positive that if he were asked about the specific hygene issue you raise (Ron Paul was not talking about sanitation practices in his video you injected that in yours) he would agree with you but may say it is your responsibility to wash your own hands after touching dirty things
Because he knows that the Swine Flu is due to the poor gov, standers and contains ingredients witch as a DOCTOR he dose not like, also the IRS is Illegal and he know this. Thunderfoot is a good man and i support him, but apparently not On The flu or Ron Paul / so i just wont vote on this video at all because i know he has issues with bots so
I disagree with Thunderfoot. When you walk through an airport or travel on a plane there are many countless ways for a virus to spread apart from finger scanners. Sure, finger scanners are a surface that are touched by many people. But think about all the other countless things you touch - toilet doors - hand rails - money. etc.
well ur right about that, but by cleaning finger scanners you atleast reduce the amount by a large number, it's lot better than to just leave that subject and let people get infected by it
Well Naerughiazk, when your right, your right. ALL HAIL THUNDERFOOT, AND MAY HE BLESS ALL THE THUNDERFOOTINITES, AS WE NEEDLESSLY MAKE PEOPLE WASH THEIR HANDS, AND BATHE. LET US WASH THE FILTH FROM THE NON BELIEVERS, AND ENFORCE COMMON SENSE ON THEM. Wait a second...even if they were forcing me to do all that...how is that bad?
Swine Flu I thought that was all the cops Obama had hired from his stimulus package.
Almost all laws and regulations were passed with good intentions. f00t seems to think that what he believes are good intentions are superior to others intentions.
The world according to foot, is his world any better than all the other tyrants out there. Only to f00t and his followers
You miss the point. His position is that government shouldn't protect citizens from disease. That should be done by the private sector. Government should just protect liberty, not health. Never heard of libertarianism?
i am a strong supporter of ron paul and although i aggree with all of your videos i would not go insulting ron paul on his views on the swine influenza. i think DackBev is right and although your assesment of the swine flu's danger is correct i do not believe ron paul is talking about protecting citizens from the swine flu, he is mearly stating that the government should not have to protect its citizens, that should be done in the private sector.
Did you just say the government should not have to protect it's citizens?
Also, he gave a good reason (tax revenue) as to why the government would want to protect it's citizens, and why the citizen would want the government to protect them (potential lost wages).
You want the government to have more revenue? I want them to have less. I don't like big government.
You're also assuming government can protect health better than the private sector or that it's a more efficient protector of health than the private sector. I disagree with that.
My liberty is being infringed upon if the fat, disgusting libertarian next to me is too stupid and stubborn to wash his hands or take a pandemic seriously.
While I agree with T-foot, my own experiences with flu in general have left me sceptical. I stopped getting flu shots yearly as I had in the past, and subsequently stopped getting the flu... coincidence? probably, but it has made me more wary of vaccines.
I am not so sure I would call alcohol wipes and sterilization techniques "getting into the medical business." I think Ron Paul was talking more about the threat of home land security taking more of our freedoms away by blowing the threat of h1n1 out of proportion. Many people die of the regular flu every year. I can see both sides, but the standards of buying office supplies is certainly not medical.
On a personal note, every time I have taken a flu shot, I have contracted the flu anyway.
TF, I think you might have overdid it on this one. I've just watched the video that you are making an argument against and from what I can tell the congressman is not speaking out against hygiene standards but against a department overstepping their bounds and people trying to solve problems they know little or nothing about (politicians and medicine). He is merely advocating a level-headed estimation of a problem before we take drastic steps. Remember, panic kills as surely as any disease.
You guys talking conspiracy theories are such assholes. Thunderf00t is talking about simple hygeine practices, that would PREVENT the government from introducing vaccines or so that you have to worry about this spreading in the first place. Had we listened to Thunderf00t's advice, we wouldn't have any H1N1 pandemic to be concerned about or any vaccine to create stupid online conspiracy theories about.
The virus you are worried A/H1N1 has been incorperated into the Tami flu vaccine. BY ACCIDENT....Again, Look up the Jane Bergermeister Case. They just got caught out. They will try again
Look it up and check the facts one by one if you must. Don't just take it from me. You may only have a few months at most before the next False Flag opp. I'm in the UK and can see it. Wake up we are next. ***North American Alliance***Look that up too.
Ha ha ha. your killing me. Ron Paul is the smartest most honest man you have in America. Check the net for info or even a .pdf file for the case which Jane Burgermeister has introduced against your government and the shadow government. All the names, all the charges. Companies, shareholders ( Romsfeld) and what they have conspired to do to "YOU and your children".
yea it could be that way but there is no way of knowing. the offficial is waering the gloves so he gives you nothing and visa-versa, same with police when they search you. i think that the virus is probably sprayed in the air. why would you want to give the dept hls ur info anyway, refuse. Research New World Order.
Why do people prefer politicians who sugarcoat all the problems we face, and make hundreds of promises which they know they can not keep. I want someone who will tell me the truth even if it's hard. Ron Paul is one of the very few that is really for "WE THE PEOPLE." He is for individual freedom and liberty. That what this country was originally all about...FREEDOM. So everybody, please do your homework before the next election. Our time to save this nation is running out. Ron Paul 2012!
The comment below was directed at ANTICHRISTANTIFAIL, not thunderfoot. I love you thunderfoot you are one of favorites on youtube despite our opposing sentiment about Ron Paul. Keep up the good work TF.
Well Thunder, I'm afraid I have to inform you, the reason Ron Paul doesn't think of any of those things is common knowledge to all Americans except conspiracy theorists. It is the one thing christains and atheists can agree on.
You are the idiot dude. Ron Paul rules! I agreed with all of his policies. End the war on drugs. Stop policing the world. Get rid of the federal reserve. Get rid of income taxes... you must be stupid or something to disagree with the brilliance on Ron Paul. I would love to bitch slap stupid ass people like yourself... maybe I could knock some sense into you. Have fun being mentally impaired you stupid ass fucktard.
I offend you, so you retort with hostility and threats? You tell me you agreed with him and that's the limit of your argument? You think intense verbal insults will win your side?
My good sir, I think you have some neanderthal DNA.
No, you said he was an idiot, and that was the limit of your argument. I said "He rules", and I gave you 4 reasons why I think so... there are many more reasons...too many to fit in this post. Sorry for the insults, but thats the way I feel about ignorance in general. Ron Paul is the only politician I have ever supported with enthusiasm, because he the only one in my lifetime that I think the founders of this country would've approved. Put simply, Ron is founding father material. Wake up!
LOL, you are actually stupid enough to make an argument based on, 'you disagree with me so you must be retarded.'
I feel sorry for Ron Paul with people like you for supporters. I agree with about half of what he says and find him a somewhat innovative thinker. I also believe that he is sincere, but he is an ideologue.
He has a belief core that that is impenetrable to evidence, education or logic and that sometimes leads him to conclusions that are ridiculous and dangerous.
Well, when your choices are jesus christ or theories that the planet is hollow and aliens invented humans to mine for gold, what do you expect? (my alien reference is a zecheria sitchin thing, google him.)
To the author of this video: The use of sanitizer by the DHS in the airports is vastly different from what Ron Paul is addressing. You are talking internal safety precautions (good idea by the way, not bashing that) and Ron Paul is advising against massive government involvement in a virus that just needs to run its course.
Ron Paul is right, the government is too big, to powerful, and too arrogant, not to mention gov employees want gov to get bigger for job security. Big gov = small freedom.
Swine flu is a joke. Regular flu kills thousands every year. This have dangerous overtones or the gov would not be trying to scare everyone into taking the shot.
It's political. Ron Paul doesn't think the government should be involved in... anything, really. You're right of course, but you now you will really hear it from the Ron Paul nuts.
Thats complete fabrication z8it. There's no such things as FEMA camps (they've been debunked to hell and back) nor will Martial Law be inacted. Its funny people were literally saying the same exact thing 10+ years ago.
Classic unsubstantiated fear and paranoia mongering. Maybe things aren't quite as bad as you think OR want to be.
TF! I hope your trip is going well. But I can't say I totally agree with you on this one. Yes the alcohol wipes should be standard practice even without the N1H1 running about. But I haven't been able to see your point on why you seem to fear this virus so much. You've given it much more merit than I think it deserves.
whoever is narrating this video is a moron and he doesnt understand that ron paul is saying THE GOVERNMENT SHOULDNT BE INVOLVED! but judging by his accent hes from a place where he cant even conceive of this being an option.
Actually your point is even stronger than you realise King, According to the CDC (American and Japanese equivalent) the swine flu is mostly spread through touching things. I don't know where redhot got his idea about it being mostly airborne.
These are not powers of the government. That's it.
What is so hard to understand??
There is no kind of dishonesty into which otherwise good people more easily and more frequently fall than that of defrauding the government. - Benjamin Franklin
bwahahaha, how are "the people" going to distribute 50 million antivirals? you miserable pratt, you have no idea what you're talking about. A pandemic is suddenly just fear? are you retarded?
Ok ignore my argument completely, declare that im childish and then have the BALLS to declare you've won. Yeah right. Just try to silence me you MORON.
That's a very strange statement to be made by a physician. Was I in the Medical business because I've provided these materials to my employees? I could have sworn we were doing technical support. I'm curious as to how you arrived at the (approx) $300 hit to the GDP though. I can't say that I'm fond of the idea of DHS having another responsibility (which would entail another pay raise I'm sure) to carry out and / or royally screw up.
Ron Paul doesn't support the department of homeland security and would get rid of it if he could. There's a good chance that the sanitizers in this clip would cost the U.S. government $5000.00 a bottle, just like our $500.00 hammers & toilet seats.
Since when are sanitation wipes solely part of the medical business? I don't recall Ron Paul ever saying that the department of homeland security shouldn't sanitize it's own equipment.
I guess I just expected someone with as much following as Thunderf00t to be a intellectual of higher caliber.
It seems to me that most of his videos involves using others videos to critique and ridicule them. When he does originate thoughts and ideas they seem rather mediocre to me.
To be honest I agree with you wizkid2000. Sometimes the critiscism that comes from Mr. Thunderf00t tends to the needless ridiculization of those whom he tries to answer instead of letting the facts he shows make the point. That is a very common mistake many debaters and intellectuals (and some others like us someones) must learn to correct with time. It is not that he is not a "high caliber" intellectual. It is just that he, like many of us friend, is learning and growing.
I never much liked thunderf00t's videos because of there attack nature and yet his last video was very well done and inspirational based on ideas which I give him a lot of credit for.
The reason I didn't like this video is because he unfairly attacked a great man like Dr. Ron Paul for no good reason.
Tfoot. Now that the swine flu craze is dying down, I will wait for you to make an apology video to Dr. Paul. Maybe, depending on how sincere you are, I will re-subscribe. It's interesting that you made PCS publicly apologize. Why don't you humble yourself and show us your leadership skills.
really? Who would've thought that Swine Flu was one big hyped up piece of media crap? Who predicted that it would die down the way it did? That's right, your man Dr. Paul. Get Tfoot's cock out of your mouth.
what the? Like I said, it died down because of the tireless work of health professionals, not because Ron Paul said it would. Without the heightned awareness, all that work would not have been done.. how stupid are you?
no shit it died down. You lips must be tired because they are stil around Tfoot's cock. Tfoot went nuts with his videos scaring his subscribers. "Oh no theres gonna be an epidemic! RUN!!" Everyone who was smart enough knew it was just another flu and you are holding on to whatever pride you have left. Face it, Tfoot was wrong. It didn't turn into anything crazy. It was all media hype and you bought into it hook link and sinker. Wipe your dick sucking lips. You got a little cum on them.
So. where did I say Tfoot was right? Learn to read idiot. All I said was that it died down because of the health proffesionals working on it. I didn't say it was going to be a pandemic or that Tfoot was right or anything of the sort. It had nothing to do with Ron Paul or Tfoot, its dying down, because out of a fear of a pandemic the medical side got things going properly. You really are quite stupid aren't you?
you fool, do you even know how health "professionals" deal with flus every year? they pick a strain and make a vaccine and call it the flu vaccine every season. Out of thousands of possible mutations the flu can undertake, they take a gamble and idiots like you line up every year DYING(Literally) for your flu shots. You really are quite stupid aren't you? Sure say that the medics got their A game so you yuppies that bought into the hype can save face. A month ago you scared mice were cowering.
I think you've skipped the real issue here. That being the increased invasions of privacy of which the Department of Homeland Security in now infamous for. The H1N1/Swine Flu scare tactic may be just another means for invading the citizen's privacy. Those in power are using new fear driven ideas to again get the people to give up liberties. That is the issue, The fact that the DHS is using unsanitary techniques shows they do not care about the spreading virus. Paul is against losing liberties.
What about airplane seats? Luggage carousel? Door handles? Ticket kiosks? Luggage handles? Counters? Everything else visitors might touch at an airport?
I mean, you cant sterilize everything. It's not the governments responsibility to sterilize everything. Keep some hand sanitizer in your pocket dude.
Airplane sets are cleaned between flights, why are you touching other peoples luggage? How many door handles do you touch at an airport (last I went, none) - Why are you touching other peoples tickets?
What about: "....I mean, you cant sterilize everything. It's not the governments responsibility to sterilize everything. Keep some hand sanitizer in your pocket dude."
If the government is FORCING you to put ur hands on something other people have put their hands on, then they need to provide sanitation there... make sense?
The argument made in this video can also be made for the DepartmentofEducation telling all the schools to also use sanitizers.Your argument makes no sense, and your point is no better made. What about the DHHS?Apparently, you support the idea of Homeland Security, a department that is as good as, apparently in your video, scanning fingerprints and taking pictures, to make unqualified decisions on health related issues. I like your evolution videos, but this video is sheer emotional stupidity.
seriously though, this video does nothing to refute Dr. Paul. It's amazing how one advocates education, and yet the author of this video didn't educate himself of the views of Dr. Paul before judging him as a nominal physician. Did he even ask Dr. Paul if he's against using sanitizers on fingerprint scans?
I'm pretty sure you would not have been forced to give your fingerprints and your photo taken if the DHS never existed and Paul would scrap those useless thugs immediately. Pointless video.
What an absolutely pointless video. You criticize Ron Paul because he didn't mention in his video that the DHS could stop the spread of Swine Flu by investing $50 in sanitizing liquid?? Are you kidding me ? Do you have any idea how lame of a point that is ? I am actually amazed at how dumb you are while attempting to sound so smart...my points...1 Swine Flu is no more harmless than the normal flu...2 the more you talk the worse your argument gets
Well, the other video is a great video, but this video is still sheer stupidity. Education and preparation are always key and I don't see anything in Ron Paul that opposes this.
It seems to me that thunderf00t just looks for anything to insult Ron Paul with and not understand the underlying meaning behind his Libertarian views.
No that is not his point - he means any flu - you have a profound lack of understanding of epidemiology, or how viruses mutate. Watch the other video.
yeah.. i think you missed Ron Paul's point. The department of homeland security adding your preventative measures is not what we consider taking over the medical business. It would be called: having common sense--something that governments lack.
If you actually listen to what Ron Paul says then you would realize he is only encouraging us think logically rather than run around screaming every time the media tells us to.
I like alot of your videos, man. But I think you totally missed his point. He was simply reassuring Americans that this outbreak is nothing to panic over. The Department of Homeland Security taking control of the situation on a federal level is unprecedented. I'm sure he agrees with you in that people need to be sanitary at customs. I don't know where your rant came from.
Ron Paul even fails at libertarianism. What kind of "champion of the free market" or "enemy of obstruction of commerce" wants to build a fucking border fence?
The Department of Homeland Security is part big government. This outbreak was too late to contain before the first confirmed cases in the United States. We already have the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to take care of issues like this, not to mention the World Health Organization. The DHS has almost nothing to offer in the medical area. It's just another money pit.
He voted AGAINST the fence (the Hunter amendment to HR4437). He also voted AGAINST using the military to patrol the border MANY times. He was asked specifically about the border fence in debates, and he derided it as ineffective and a waste of money.
Wanting to restrict immigration is NOT the same thing as wanting a border fence. (That sort of thing indicates to me I'm dealing with a dogmatist here...)
Lets set aside the border fence for a second (even though he did vote for one).
While you are right that immigration restriction is not quite so asinine as a fence, its still a pointless, self-destructive form of government intervention in the market (not to mention far different from the libertarian party's position).
Also, just a QUICK TIP, capitalizing words for EMPHASIS makes you sound like a PATRONIZING DOUCHEBAG.
ALL HAIL DOCTOR RON PAUL! KING OF THE INTERNETS! (rolls dice)
You're right, it's stupid to make fun of his doctor title, even if it is annoying and unrelated. We should make fun of libertarians in general, though it isn't really that funny... just fucked up.
They're just the sons and daughters of Y2K freaks. Y2K12 anyone?
You do realize that medical knowledge in general has nothing to do with governing? It doesn't matter. It's stupid to use "Dr. Ron Paul", it's all political bullshit.
ron paul dosent think the department of homeland security should make anything to do with any sort of policy making, not that they should sanitize their equipment. Way to miss his intire point. your a really good scientist and debater, but you arent that good of an economist.
And if you had read any of the recommendations for what to do if you have a CONFIRMED case of swine flu (because you can get a swab at a drs office to find out if you actually have it) then your math would have been far more impressive because they tell you to stay home from work/school for 7 days AFTER you are feeling better. Youre such a dimwit.
Why don't you just go WASH YOUR HANDS after touching something that other people have been touching?! The airports already supply soap and water. And you are more likely to contract an AIRBORNE virus from a person coughing on the plane. Your stupidity is becoming very obnoxious and you should maybe read a CDC report or medical dictionary before you decide to act as some sort of commentator on the matter.
I watched the original video, and the point was that doctors and scientists, not congressmen and security officials, should decide how best to deal with a potential problem like swine flu.
This might include, as you reasonably suggest, more sanitary practices at airports.
Too much has been called a "homeland security problem" (or something Congress must deal with), and they're just not equipped to make policy decisions on how to deal with a disease outbreak. Leave that to the doctors.
What do you think ? Do you think currently the border guards and security officials at airports and land borders are taking advice on medical matters from farmers or real state brokers or carpenters or timber loggers or some who have absolutely no expertize on medical matters ?
Whoever they're taking it from, it's somebody who doesn't recommend washing things that hundreds of strangers are going to put their hands on, so probably not doctors.
Yes I totally agree with you, this video tends to miss Ron Paul's main message, what he had to say about sanitation was admirable, but if this gentleman wanted to go over departments that seek a great deal of human traffic he'd have his hands full with many many other organizations. Ron Paul was simply implying that this "outbreak" should not have been a "homeland security problem".
Politicians like evangelists are always playing to what they percieve to be their core audience, not matter how important or trivial the topic. That's what they do, for the most part it seems.
Even better - why not removing the fingerprint scanners altogether? Then you won't have these risks at all and you'll save money not only on sterilizers, but on needless paperwork, electronic devices, bureaucracy etc.

VigilanteNighthawk 1 year ago
I believe that Ron Paul is usually correct when it comes to his criticism of big government. I'm not so sure that he was right this time, though. You point out the practical reasons that Homeland Security is in an ideal position to prevent the spread of swine flu. That being said, it's worth mentioning that the overreach of government in other areas is probably a big reason why he made this criticism, even if it is wrong.

im a fan of you thunderf00t, but i dont think ron paul is the person that should be taking flak. he's always seemed to be level headed in his words to me, and doesnt seem to base him actions on a textbook agenda

The real doctor, Ron Paul, was right about this. It's not so surprising as Ron Paul is usually right about everything.
tharock220 2 years ago
Ron Paul is also one of those guys who doesn't take potential things like swine flu seriously. People laugh now if it doesn't become a pandemic. They wait they laugh they wait they laugh, and then comes the pandemic and what then? Next alert, panic. Alert after that, some gumpiness. Alert after that one, amusement, next alert = laugh and so the circle continues...
TurboDally 2 years ago
LOL one: you are confused, look at the situation more closely. this isn't just any drug company or independent doctor warning about the potentials of swine flu. this is special interest pharma with connections with the government that received 2 billion dollars of special interest money. your basic assumption seems to be "if government warns us and we don't listen, there's nobody else". let's spend 2 billion dollar every time special interest tells us to, see how much we can laugh about it.
spyletu 2 years ago
I still don't see this as a reason to ignore what could potentially be much worse, as if the history of flu was non-existant.
TurboDally 2 years ago
a loss in income is actually a greater loss in GDP due to the multiplier effect, so three days of work lost is more than $300. also, the average person does not work 365 days per year, but your calculation there still makes sense because it is the daily average.
Adonay96 2 years ago
It is the responsibility of the public areas to provide methods of sanitation, both for their own assets and those required by law. Ron is simply saying that an entire department (an inflation of the government which he actively speaks against, I'll add) should not be wasting as much time and money as Homeland Security undoubtedly is, for the work that a single drab piece of legislation could do just as easily. Good topic though.
geodethos 2 years ago
I have been of the opinion for some time now that the H1N1 is (yet another) media scare/Pharma fleecing, and have not yet seen one indication contrariwise. I know of no one personally who has been infected with it, and have only hearsay evidence that it's "no big deal" from those who have personal contacts with the infected.
Looks like it was a scam, just like last years scam.

I think your gripe should be with the emigration dept and there sanitation procedures you seem to be missing that Dr. Pauls point is more about growing government and overlaping DHS jurisdiction into other agencies. I am positive that if he were asked about the specific hygene issue you raise (Ron Paul was not talking about sanitation practices in his video you injected that in yours) he would agree with you but may say it is your responsibility to wash your own hands after touching dirty things
wanabyastick 2 years ago
You are not infected through your hand - just wash your own hands after the scanner stupid.
You were much more likely to catch the flu from the guy 16 people back in line who coughed. NOT from the scanner.

NinjadoForce 2 years ago
I disagree with Thunderfoot. When you walk through an airport or travel on a plane there are many countless ways for a virus to spread apart from finger scanners. Sure, finger scanners are a surface that are touched by many people. But think about all the other countless things you touch - toilet doors - hand rails - money. etc.
newfagscanttrif0rce 2 years ago
well ur right about that, but by cleaning finger scanners you atleast reduce the amount by a large number, it's lot better than to just leave that subject and let people get infected by it

i am a strong supporter of ron paul and although i aggree with all of your videos i would not go insulting ron paul on his views on the swine influenza. i think DackBev is right and although your assesment of the swine flu's danger is correct i do not believe ron paul is talking about protecting citizens from the swine flu, he is mearly stating that the government should not have to protect its citizens, that should be done in the private sector.
daa774 2 years ago
@daa774

Ron Paul is right, the government is too big, to powerful, and too arrogant, not to mention gov employees want gov to get bigger for job security. Big gov = small freedom.

wizkid2000 2 years ago
To be honest I agree with you wizkid2000. Sometimes the critiscism that comes from Mr. Thunderf00t tends to the needless ridiculization of those whom he tries to answer instead of letting the facts he shows make the point. That is a very common mistake many debaters and intellectuals (and some others like us someones) must learn to correct with time. It is not that he is not a "high caliber" intellectual. It is just that he, like many of us friend, is learning and growing.

TariqAlSuave 2 years ago
How would a border fence obstruct commerce?
exomniac 2 years ago
@exomniac
So you think big government should control who can work where? How is that any better than protectionism?
TariqAlSuave 2 years ago
The Department of Homeland Security is part big government. This outbreak was too late to contain before the first confirmed cases in the United States. We already have the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to take care of issues like this, not to mention the World Health Organization. The DHS has almost nothing to offer in the medical area. It's just another money pit.

Ron Paul is AGAINST the border fence and has said so on numerous occasions. Learn what you're talking about before you go spouting off your mouth.

# Voted YES on building a fence along the Mexican border. (Sep 2006)
# Rated 100% by FAIR, indicating a voting record restricting immigration. (Dec 2003)
# Rated 83% by USBC, indicating a sealed-border stance. (Dec 2006)

Oh, great, a website written by OTHER PEOPLE.
(That sort of thing indicates to me I'm dealing with a dogmatist here...)
shanedk 2 years ago
Lets set aside the border fence for a second (even though he did vote for one).
While you are right that immigration restriction is not quite so asinine as a fence, its still a pointless, self-destructive form of government intervention in the market (not to mention far different from the libertarian party's position).
Also, just a QUICK TIP, capitalizing words for EMPHASIS makes you sound like a PATRONIZING DOUCHEBAG.
TariqAlSuave 2 years ago
Well, then I guess both Thomas Jefferson and Richard Dawkins are "patronizing douchebags."
Douchebag.

Because of the welfare state. Ron Paul has mentioned multiple times that he wouldn't be so harsh on this issue if there was no welfare state.

Ron Paul", it's all political bullshit.
orajeladdict 2 years ago
ron paul dosent think the department of homeland security should make anything to do with any sort of policy making, not that they should sanitize their equipment. Way to miss his intire point. your a really good scientist and debater, but you arent that good of an economist.

appearantly you have to have a british accent to have an opinion on the swine flu! check out my video "swine flu office outbreak"
zayaplaya1 2 years ago
And if you had read any of the recommendations for what to do if you have a CONFIRMED case of swine flu (because you can get a swab at a drs office to find out if you actually have it) then your math would have been far more impressive because they tell you to stay home from work/school for 7 days AFTER you are feeling better. Youre such a dimwit.
redhotrebel26 2 years ago
Why don't you just go WASH YOUR HANDS after touching something that other people have been touching?! The airports already supply soap and water. And you are more likely to contract an AIRBORNE virus from a person coughing on the plane. Your stupidity is becoming very obnoxious and you should maybe read a CDC report or medical dictionary before you decide to act as some sort of commentator on the matter.
redhotrebel26 2 years ago
Im a bit confused. TF what are you on about with Ron Paul?
Vernhicular 2 years ago
Wow, vernhicular, watch the video and you will find out..
thekevstah 2 years ago
I watched the original video, and the point was that doctors and scientists, not congressmen and security officials, should decide how best to deal with a potential problem like swine flu.
This might include, as you reasonably suggest, more sanitary practices at airports.
Too much has been called a "homeland security problem" (or something Congress must deal with), and they're just not equipped to make policy decisions on how to deal with a disease outbreak. Leave that to the doctors.

Doctors should become border guards or immigration officers at borders and airports ?
Is that what you mean
UnsavoryMen 2 years ago
UnsavoryMen,
No, I mean that doctors should determine how border guards and immigration officers deal with infectious diseases.
Asking such an inane question, I can't help but wonder if you are incapacitated in some way... had a stroke recently, have you?
ghuegel 2 years ago
What do you think ? Do you think currently the border guards and security officials at airports and land borders are taking advice on medical matters from farmers or real state brokers or carpenters or timber loggers or some who have absolutely no expertize on medical matters ?
UnsavoryMen 2 years ago
Whoever they're taking it from, it's somebody who doesn't recommend washing things that hundreds of strangers are going to put their hands on, so probably not doctors.
uberjim83 2 years ago
Yes I totally agree with you, this video tends to miss Ron Paul's main message, what he had to say about sanitation was admirable, but if this gentleman wanted to go over departments that seek a great deal of human traffic he'd have his hands full with many many other organizations. Ron Paul was simply implying that this "outbreak" should not have been a "homeland security problem".

Politicians like evangelists are always playing to what they percieve to be their core audience, not matter how important or trivial the topic. That's what they do, for the most part it seems.

I'm an atheist. Ron Paul was right however. Thunderfoot was WRONG. Oh my gosh! Guess what it happens.
